The command just needs to be run in Windows or Mac OSX, not on the phone.

ok thanks....One more thing so i should only have one file which is the ipcc file for my carrier? when the instructions says to pick out your comcenter hack patch is that referring to the ipcc file or there will be a list to chose from

Has anyone tried this for Vodafone UK or in fact any carrier in the UK?

BTW at the moment the links on the web site don't work...

I've tried for O2 Uk but it didn't upgrade my carrier despite following all the instructions

Just install CommCenter and do the Windows/Mac command to allow patching through iTunes. Once that's done apply the ipcc and reboot and done.

Commcenter is in cydia. Just follow the tutorial in the link.

I tried this for Vofafone UK, and got no signal. Tried resetting network settings but to no avail. Had to revert and got my 2 bars back...

Using it on 8.1.1 but I noticed in Settings>Cellular that Voice & Data is set to LTE only. Prior it was 4G and LTE. Is there a way to set it to both or does it matter?

I just noticed that not getting voice over lte. I'm using the $60 a month prepaid plan from att. It switches to 4g on calls still.

both the caller and receiver need to have phones that is capable of voice over lte, as well as a location that has this service, for your calls to be made over lte

Did you notice any benefit to this hack on Three UK?

I get good signal strength inside my flat which is pretty noticeable. If you are already happy with your signal strength then there's really no need for doing it. You get the 4G, 3G and 2G menu back but that really doesn't help me at all. Other than that you can configure your APNs manually now.

I am on 3 and updated my network profile and I see no speed or signal increase at all.

Nice to have the 2g, 4g toggles and apn settings available though.

After 2 weeks of use with this hack I noticed 2 things. Speeds in some areas were insane, typically where I would get 15-20 down I was getting 45+. The problem I had, and I'm not sure if more of you had this issue- My imessage would often fail and send as regular text message. I ended up reverting back to the old carrier version and it seems to have fixed the problem. Other then that I had no issue with signal and phone calls.

I keep hearing a lot about the keyboard improvement too. That's why I want to try 8.1.1, but I may just wait until 8.2.

No guarantee there will be a JB for 8.2, and if there is, no telling how long you'll have to wait to get it.

This is an utter farce. Before and after tests using a dock so the phone didn't move even a cm. Same test server. You all can believe what you want, but there's no logic to the carrier file giving you bars where bars don't exist, not "boosting" the amount of signal received. I laugh at the comments "it increased the signal" ... apparently the hack has a way to tap into ATT's transmission tower and crank up the power. LOL

I guess it's like arguing with someone who says the bible is real and god exists. There's no amount of logic you can throw that'll disprove them if they believe.

Maybe in some markets the carrier file is limiting speeds, but certainly not here in the SF Bay area. This carrier hack does absolutely NOTHING here except modify the ability to change the voice\data to 2G 4G LTE, etc.
