Yes, I was about to take my iPP 11 to the apple store tomorrow, and I said can it be the glass protector.? And it was. As I was carefully removing it, you can see the impressions on the screen as it released itself from the actual screen. Like it was pressing down hard on the display and you get distortion..never had this with ANY of my iPads. 1st one w/o a screen protector
what brand did you have, and it was pushing down on the glass or was hard getting off? I hope my iPad is undamaged after I replace the screen protector.
I guess my only worry is if I leave the current AMFilm screen protector on until I can replace with a Zagg... will it damage or cause any issues? :O

I took mine back to Apple as it makes no sense that only 5 keys had the issue, plus I didn't notice until today while looking at the box... they gave me a space-gray 256GB not silver... I feel dumb.
I have to wait 2 weeks, the only thing I care about is that the new one i ordered will have the same uniform screen and good speakers, just not the weird touch issues with a few keys.

I have to have a protector. I’m going
To try the Sparin one first since that arrives today but I also did order the iCarez matte film as well now that they’ve updated it. If I don’t like the glass, I’ll use the film, especially after someone here pointed out the film gives a paper-like quality when used with the Apple Pencil
You want paperlike.com’s screen protector for the paper like feel. They’re taking preorders now for the new iPads. The generic “paper like” screen protectors are just cheap trash. They don’t last, constantly peel up, have touch problems, so on an so forth. Just wait for paperlike to release theirs, it’s worth the wait and money.

How do these impact screen viewing? Do they reduce sharpness? Reviews on Amazon seemed mixed.

The screen is slightly dimmer. But the effect with writing, drawing, and no finger prints make up for it. I went from wiping the screen off constantly to just not at all. The new iPads are even worse with fingerprints. They’re so bad looking at it probably puts a print on the screen. I guess that’s the “Liquid” Apple is referring too in their marketing.

Just came to report that JETech and ESR both do not work on the iPad Pro 11”. I am extremely anal about keeping my devices absolutely perfect (especially a $1200 iPad) and this is very concerning to me. Amazon reviews are starting to reflect this as well, but unfortunately not before I purchased. Both are being returned.

Both ESR and JETech completely remove touch functionality despite flawless installs with no dust or bubbles. I did get FaceID to work with the ESR but that doesn’t matter when touches don’t even register. They occasionally register with firm presses with the fingernail rather than the pad of the finger, but obviously that is still useless. Hopefully someone will figure this out soon - whoever does first is going to sell a boatload of screen protectors!

Also note that every smart case I have seen in Amazon does NOT allow for the pencil to charge. Some of them are now putting this on their ads (despite product photos still clearly showing the pencil Which is highly misleading, especially since it’s the gen 1 pencil). This has not been a good release for accessories!

My Sparin came in (due to some craziness with the delivery, it was delayed from Sunday) and I installed it pretty flawlessly. The new cutout works great, there’s no interference with FaceID at all. And the responsiveness of the screen is flawless so far. Overall, I’m happy for now but will still consider a screen film later for use with the pencil when I do art. Just finally happy that I was able to take the tablet out of the box and set it up. Now I’m all set for my upcoming anime convention trip later this week and will have ample entertainment at hand on a nice large screen during the ride to the event

I had a Sparin on my iPad 10.5 and it is perfect. Good to hear it’s working for you on the new pro. Anyone else have the sparin? Doesn’t look like they aren’t available in Canada yet though.

Interestingly enough, JETech just sent an email to all its customers saying they are releasing a new version with a cutout for the entire sensor array, which is silly. The only cutout necessary is for the Face ID. The problem is that it removes all touch functionality, which oddly they did not even address, so their revised version will also likely be useless. If anyone has one, id suggest returning it to Amazon and not hanging onto it like they are asking you to.

I got the sprain. Works great

Thank you - I’ll send them a note and inquire about Canadian availability. I just return them if they don’t work. Looking at reviews on Amazon.com though they’re 82% negative, including some that mention compromised touch sensitivity which concerns me.

I think a lot of those reviews now are based on the original version before they expanded the cutout to be more precise

The JETech one I have works fine as long as I don’t have the iPad resting on some kind of inert surface. Not ideal but it’s rare that I’m not holding the iPad anyway so for me, it does work.

Just hoping the next batch resolves this.

I have a Maxboost on mine. Touchscreen is sporadic when the IPad is lying on a surface and not connected to power. When its not touching another surface it works fine. When it's connected to power works perfectly regardless if it is touching another surface or being held in the hand. Why would connecting it to power change whether or not it works with the glass screen protector on it?

I ordered a MediaDevil clear film. They say they test everything in-house on an actual device, so... we’ll see. It releases Friday and then I’ll have to wait for shipping from the UK. They say this film resolves the debate between glass and film protectors, so fingers are crossed that it works as well as they claim.

I bought a glass screen protector for my new 12.9 from Amazon. It arrived Nov 6. My iPad arrived Nov 7. I got it from a brand named Sparin, which i’ve never heard of. Fit is fine. Face ID works. Touchscreen works fine. It works perfect for me.

My ESR works perfectly (shrug).

Has this made noise anywhere else? I'm surprised we haven't seen a "hashtag tempered glass screen protector gate." I made sure to buy my screen protector without any cutouts because I hate when it has them and FaceID worked flawlessly but the touch responsiveness was very sporadic.

I already used my iPad 10.5" without a screen protector and that oleophobic kinda wore out. Even with AppleCare+ I got this time, I'm very reluctant not using a screen protector.

I agree. The Sparin seems to be the best for the 12.9”. Is this problem more pronounced in the 11”?

I have a JeTech for my 12.9 and it works perfectly too...FaceID and all. The glass fits the screen just right, leaving just a tiny, tiny gap between it and the edge, needed so it doesn’t peel off by accident. This is probably my best install of a glass screen protector.

That’s exactly the way mine fit. I’m extremely pleased. Pencil works fine also.

Sorry but how would the cutout solve the lack of touch performance? Seems like that would only help with Face ID which is the lesser of the two issues.

I tried two - both completely removed touch functionality. Other reviews say the same. Maybe there are significant manufacturing variances? Not sure.

Maybe so. This is the one I bought: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G44NH3H/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The one I bought looked the same, but I guess that doesn't prove much from my end. That one has 100% 1-star reviews so far too. I am buying from Amazon Canada but I assume the products are the same. Often cases and screen protectors get released again later with an *UPDATED* in the title on Amazon as it's common for them to mess up the sensor cutouts, but not destroy the touch functionality.

Normally the screen protector is the least of my issues - I am good at installing them and I have never had them interfere with touch functionality, ever. This is a very weird issue and I hope the manufacturers figure it out soon, or improve their consistency as some people do not seem to have any issues.
