I’m considering taking mine off as well. I’ve always put them on all my devices but I am very careful and have an Apple Folio case on it.
Yep—same. I feel iPads are the devices that least need one, and I always use a cover (currently the keyboard folio) so I don’t mind ditching it. I’ve used them here and there on all my iPads and they provide peace of mind, but they also create screen glare and take away some of the feel when using the Pencil. I don’t take my iPad anywhere dirty or sandy and clean the screen off every day. I’m not sweating it.

I have to have a protector. I’m going
To try the Sparin one first since that arrives today but I also did order the iCarez matte film as well now that they’ve updated it. If I don’t like the glass, I’ll use the film, especially after someone here pointed out the film gives a paper-like quality when used with the Apple Pencil

I am using an iCarez matte (non-glass) screen protector and am having no issues with touch. There’s a notch in it where the front camera is but Face ID is not working. Doesn’t bother me not to have it working.

Matte screen protectors do make the display less crisp, but I have fuzzy eyesight so it doesn’t bother me like it does some people.

That is a huge huge blow Mate ! How is it ok with you ?? Are you seriously ok ??

I’m screen typing on mine right now while it sits on a couch cushion in my lap and it’s catching every character no problem. So far the only solution I’ve come up with to stop the touch sensitivity issues is take the protector off.

Mine is fine with typing whatever way I hold it. I only notice the touch sensitivity issues when scrolling or zooming when the iPad is resting on a cushion or a table.

I found that also with this duff screen protector, when the iPad is horizontal it works 50/50, stick on a pillow when it’s vertical and it just doesn’t want to work

How strange is that

I also had this issue on my 11” iPad. I bought it from amazon and now it says unavailable and it has a one star review complaining about the same thing. I noticed it really bad on the right hand side and it would bug me so much. Had to double and triple tap the screen sometimes.

I have a spare plastic film screen protector for the 10.5" pro (that I had to cut down slightly,) so have put that on again after the disaster with the glass one and it works perfectly covering the camera. Looks terrible but at least it protects the screen from scratches. Hopefully the glass ones will start coming out with a cut out for the camera.

The Sparin I am using has the cut out for the camera so the Face ID works fine. However, I am not sure about the responsiveness yet of the screen. Need a bit more time to play with it but it is possible my thumb is not registering all of the time when scrolling. Will update as I know more.

Give it another week or so and the proper ‘tested’ films will be out

As mentioned earlier in this thread, I purchased this pack of 2 screen protectors

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07H5832WT/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I used one on the 11” 256GB and it was useless, I’ve now since upgraded the iPad, at Apple, for the 1tb 11” and used the second screen protector from the pack...and it’s working around 95% of the time....this is very strange!

Just a word of caution. Do NOT try and use any of the glass screen protectors currently available for the new iPad Pros. The touch response becomes SERIOUSLY wonky. It is so bad I thought I had a hardware issue with my brand new 11" iPad Pro.
If you check all the screen protectors at Amazon, their reviews are very bad, complaining about non responsive touch and Face ID not working, I think at saw at least 15 or 20 different models/brands, all of them the same, clearly the new iPad Pros are not screen protector friendly.

Just an update. The Orzero screen protector continues to work perfectly on my 11. Not a single Face ID/touch screen/pencil issue. Although there is no cutout, the sound/recording quality of the microphone is excellent.
5 review in Amazon for Orzero and many of them says Face ID doesn't work and some are having pour touch response.

Yes, I was about to take my iPP 11 to the apple store tomorrow, and I said can it be the glass protector.? And it was. As I was carefully removing it, you can see the impressions on the screen as it released itself from the actual screen. Like it was pressing down hard on the display and you get distortion..never had this with ANY of my iPads. 1st one w/o a screen protector

I wonder if Zagg is holding theirs back. And if so what’s different with this screen compared to previous models.

I was excited to get this iPad since I own a launch day Air 2 from four years ago. Still waiting since you can’t buy glass or a decent case yet, and to me $180 is just asinine for the keyboard folio.

Is this screen protector responsive issue (solved only if you make contact with the black bezel or the matelic body) only occurs on the 11 inch model or also on the 12.9 inch model?

Can the iPad pro screen (without a protector) prevents scratches from the Apple Pencil?

Can’t speak on the pencil leaving marks, but as far as responsiveness goes, its day and night w/o a glass protector. The display definitely has issues with one on. So much so, that I thought I had a bad display and was going to go to Apple today for service. I have the 11 inch model, and it didn’t matter what you did, the glass would leave dead zones in certain spots...frustrating since when I unboxed it this was my experience because I always install a glass protector before using any Apple device.

The device is designed to be used without a protector. If it were meant to be used with a protector, Apple would absolutely sell one - they wouldn’t pass up those profits. Several artists have mentioned in this forum that they’ve used the pencil for years without a protector and without issues, you just have to keep your screen and pencil tip clean. I wanted a screen protector because I plan to use the pencil a lot, but it just seems this device doesn’t work well with them, so I’m going without and just carefully cleaning my screen before using the pencil.

My Face ID works great wth my AMFilm cover but sometimes a few keys on the onscreen keyboard require a re-tap.
I hope zagg’s is better, I always go with them, but they missed the window this year round.

K.
I've become a recent fan of Zagg products. They make good stuff. I think they're even making better keyboard cases than Logitech is at this point.
