Update on my JeTech screen protector as I finally got my iPad Pro 11” from UPS lol. So one of the most common issues I’ve heard is with FaceID however it has worked perfectly fine with me even though the screen protector is covering it. Touch sensitivity isn’t affected nor is the pen input which is weird because I assume the majority of tempered glass screen protectors are similarity made.

Edit: So after a few minutes I tried to unlock my iPad again and it seems like the FaceID cover issue came up, really weird as it worked completely fine before.

I also noticed the issues seemed sporadic and progressive. It like it got worse the longer the glass was on. Especially when trying to use the iPad with it sitting flat.

Thanks for the update mate. Let us know if it continues to play up.

The JETech screen protector description said there was a hole cutout for the sensor. Is that not the case?

No that's bull, it's only a cutout for the microphone. I assume FaceID has issues reading a face as the index of refraction from tempered glass to air could cause issues.

The ones I tried also had the hole/cutout and yet they still screwed things up.

You’re right. It’s only for the mic. I wonder why I have zero issues with the glass on my Xr? Something is different about these new iPPs.

Yeah seems to be software related, I'm really hoping Apple addresses this fairly soon as it's the only way to unlock the iPad other than a passcode. JeTech did say they are planning to release a iPhone X style screen protector soon though.

I just got the following message from Sparin about their glass:

This is Betty from Customer Service Team, it is my honor to write to you.

I am really sorry to hear about your iPad Pro 11 screen protector has sensitivity issue. It is a design issue for this screen protector. We are sincerely apologize for inconvenience caused to you.

Dear, we have a newest screen protector with cutout all front holes, which has tested on iPad Pro 11-inch without influence of FACE ID function and sensitivity of screen. We sicnerely invite you to try it as free replacement(also 2 pack). You have no cost for this and needn't to return original protectors. Is it okay for you?

Looking forward to your reply.

Sincerely,

Betty

JeTech said there is a 2 week wait for their other screen protector which is ridiculous, on the bright side at least it looks like you're getting a 2 pack hah.

Looked into the new version you mentioned and ordered via Amazon. With luck, I’ll get it closer to the earlier delivery estimate than the later one. I’m not touching my iPad until it has a protector on the screen

So weird. I bought this same screen protector for my new 11 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H2XP19N/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Installed it a couple of hours ago and Face ID/touch response have been virtually flawless (1 failure in maybe 30 attempts). I won't have an opportunity to try the new pencil until later tonight or tomorrow, and hope it works properly as well. I don't know if folks are trying to set up Face ID before or after installing the screen protector. I set Face ID up first, if that might make any difference.

I've always used Smart Cover style cases (except the cheap third party ones off Amazon) and haven't had any issues with them. I think if the screen is designed for a Pencil scraping across the surface, it could handle a crumb in the cover.

I'm very careful with my devices too. Especially Apple since they're so expensive. I always get a little extra paranoid when I have something new. But I've also learned from six years of owning iPads and two of drawing on one that these devices really are designed to be used and can handle what you throw at them. I treat my iPad well but I also carry it everywhere since it's my sketchbook. It's certainly more rugged than it looks. So is the Pencil for that matter. I tossed mine in my bag every morning without a single thought. Tip remained pristine.

I think there's a happy medium between being careful to the point of being afraid to use a device under normal circumstances and tossing it around like it's confetti.

I don't know about recommending the Pencil. Its main uses are by artists, photographers, and people who do a lot of longhand writing/note taking. It's one of those things where the need should lead to a purchase rather than a purchase trying to find a need. If that makes sense.

It totally makes sense. I am a professional photographer, having used Windows and Photoshop/Lightroom for many years. Last year I bought my first Mac, an iMac 27 inch. Currently use an iPad Air 2 and iPhone 8 plus for mobile.

I do have Affinity Photo and Pixelmator Pro on my iPad, though do all editing on desktop. Would you think the pencil and new iPad Pro 11 would benefit for then for photography/editing? I'm definitely not averse to learning new ways.

Is it just the face detect that is playing up with the JETech protector?? How does it go with finger tap responsiveness, gestures and using the Apple Pencil?

Have you tried to scroll a webpage in Safari with the iPad laying flat or just a slight angle? See how responsive the touch is like that.

Also, I just looked. That looks like a solid rectangular piece of glass. Are you covering the microphone on the front of the iPad?

I have the iCarez one (non-glass) and have the Face ID issue as well. I shined a flashlight on my iPad and could see that cut out only accounts for like 3 out of the 5/6 sensors/cameras. Half are still covered which is why Face ID isn’t working. I enlarged the cut out myself with a pair of scissors to allow for all parts of the camera/sensors to be free and clear and now Face ID works perfect.

I bet it’s the same cause for these other ones too it’s just that you can’t grab scissors and fix it yourself since it’s glass. My fix is ugly as heck tho so this current one is only temporary until I find one that has the proper sized cut out.

Edit: Btw this is the one I have on pre order. They seem to be great so I’m assuming this new one will fit good too:

Yes, there are no cutouts. I've only tried to use Siri so far and no problems. Scrolling works perfectly regardless of the screen angle. Just opened and used the pencil and no issues either. It's the same Chinese manufacturer/screen protector that Stooie3000 bought from Amazon UK. I feel badly for everyone who's having issues. It looks like the single screen protectors for the 11 are still available from Amazon USA for anyone who wants to give it shot: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H2XGK19/ref=s9_dcacsd_dcoop_bw_c_x_1_w

Face ID aside, it’s odd that glass screen protectors that worked fine on old gen iPads are affecting touch senstivity.

Unless they’ve changed the screen composition it shouldn’t be affected by a thin film of glass?

I never used any screen protector on my iPhones and iPads. I have each and every iPhone except the 5C, SE and smaller 6,7 and the 8. And each and every iPad except the iPad mini. I only broke one iPhone screen when I was drunk and it fell to the ground face down. All of them survived dropping on other angles. The back casing is essential though.

The main reason I’m using a screen protector on mine is that those keys on the keyboard come in direct contact with the screen. I’m worried they’ll create scratches and scuffs. At the same time, the touch screen just doesn’t work right with this protector on it. I really want to take it off. How likely is it that those keys create scratches?
