How do you know that it’s the latest version?

Has a longer cutout on the top that looks like the “iphone X/XS notch” instead of the smaller circular cutout that seems to only fit the mic

How do you know that it’s the latest version?

The main reason I’m using a screen protector on mine is that those keys on the keyboard come in direct contact with the screen. I’m worried they’ll create scratches and scuffs. At the same time, the touch screen just doesn’t work right with this protector on it. I really want to take it off. How likely is it that those keys create scratches?
I was curious about exactly the same thing. It’s probably the only thing stopping me from opening and starting to use my iPad.

Otherwise I still have another full week to wait to receive a protector that only partially works based on feedback from others on this forum.

To me the Face ID not working with glass is a non issue since I don’t use it nor Touch ID. I am really curious though about comments saying touching the screen isn’t as responsive.

I’ve never used any glass except Zagg on my devices, I’m wondering if it’s because the only glass available today is from knockoff manufacturers.

I have the 11”. Have you tried using your iPad with it sitting flat or slightly angled like on an uneven couch? Try scrolling in like Safari and see if you don’t notice some issues.

No idea, but whatever it is it sucks. I have noticed that it only behaves weird when sitting almost flat too. As soon as you pick the iPad up and use is vertically it seems to respond fine.

I haven't noticed any issues with it flat personally. Hope everyone gets their issue resolved!

No issues here with 2018 IPP 12.9 and screen protector. Installed immediately while it was restoring last night and FID and responsiveness is just fine. Pencil works fine too. IVSO protector:

Ah--you had me all hopeful for a second, but it looks like the 11" version of these is not getting good reviews--all the same bad comments as everything else.

We need to keep this thread alive--I want to keep watching it to see if anyone finds anything better.

What would be the difference between the 12..9 and 11 that’s causing this?

Yes, there are no cutouts. I've only tried to use Siri so far and no problems. Scrolling works perfectly regardless of the screen angle. Just opened and used the pencil and no issues either. It's the same Chinese manufacturer/screen protector that Stooie3000 bought from Amazon UK. I feel badly for everyone who's having issues. It looks like the single screen protectors for the 11 are still available from Amazon USA for anyone who wants to give it shot: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H2XGK19/ref=s9_dcacsd_dcoop_bw_c_x_1_w
You are covering up one of the microphones then if it is solid glass with no holes or cutouts. It would seem to me that these glass manufacturers seriously jumped the gun and had no idea what these new iPPs were going to be like. Covering up sensors, cameras and mics is pretty pathetic. They should all be pulled from Amazon right now.

I almost feel like running over to Target or Best Buy today to see if either of them has anything that might be better. This screen sensitivity issue is driving me crazy.

That’s what was a dealbreaker for me. Had to take mine off. I’m assuming you have the 11”? Please keep me informed with what you come up with.

Why do people use screen protectors on a tablet? It's not been carried in your pocket with keys or coins.

There is also the issue of dropping an iPad. If you’ve watched any durability tests for this new one you will see that it’s very fragile. Having a scree protector on can help absorb some of the force when or if an iPad is dropped.

Or dropping something on the screen itself. Which I have done by accident. Lots of reasons for a screen protector.

I don't believe ANY store has glass. No major brand makes them yet.

The keyboard is a fabric. It won't scratch your display. If you are super worried about this, just use a sheet of paper or microfiber between the keyboard and the screen.

When I was in the Apple Store yesterday and the rep was offering me accessories, I asked about the screen protectors. To that point, I didn't know that Apple didn't offer them for iPads. I got one from Apple on my XR on Launch Day, and they used their handy little machine to install it. It's been great.

The Apple rep theorized that it's because that's how Apple gets a lot of its revenue from Apple Care--broken or cracked screens. Perhaps there's some validity to this.

At the moment, my new 11" is naked, but I have a protector ordered.

Zagg announced their InvisibleShield glass protector yesterday but if they listed them on their site, it’s already sold out. Normally, I only use Zagg as it has yet to let me down and lifetime replacement. But if the glass covering the mic and cameras is an issue, then I won’t bother buying theirs either as their protector is a full sheet with no cutout last I saw (or at least only a mic cutout)

I don't believe it's sold out, it was never available yet. They also might be holding back due to the issues that are coming out now too.

I have the iCarez one. I just cut it for now. I contacted them via Amazon and they're sending replacements with proper cutouts for FaceID. I also like the feel of Matte when drawing on the screen, so my ugly hack works for now.

Yeah I think these glass manufacturers are scrambling right now after finding out there are issues. I’ve said it before, I think this is going to spread like wildfire as more and more people try using glass on their 11” iPPs.

I couldn't take it anymore--I took the glass protector off. I was taking notes on my iPad for a meeting and needed to flip over to Twitter to answer someone on something so I was trying to screen-type my reply to them and it was missing every other letter I was typing. I can't use the iPad like this. I'm going to just trust that this keyboard isn't going to scratch my screen up.

Incidentally--that was my first screen-typing on this iPad because I didn't have much time to play around with it last night. It's GREAT! I thought the new bigger keyboard on the 10.5" model was a big improvement--this is even better!

I was just spending some time on Amazon reading lots of reviews on these glass screen protectors. Really really bad reviews. Lots of people reporting the same issues on mostly all of the current offerings.
