Sorry guys, I looked but I can't find which of my magazines has a pic of J Allard working on his Mac.

It's somewhere on my shelf, if I find it I'll remember to post it here.

Jack Black in School of Rock uses a whole truckload of iMac g4's and PowerBook G4's as well

As does the keyboard player for the Newsboys (a CCM band)

How much money do you think apple pays to have their computers put into tv shows and movies? I just saw National Treasure: Book of secrets ( which was really good) and their was a blackbook in almost every seen.
I think the majority of the time, nothing at all. Most of the people making Movies and TV shows use them anyway.

If you look closely, you will see MacBook Pros or PowerBooks in many many shows, and they put an aluminium coloured sticker over the top of the logo, because it *isn't* product placement. It's just what they want to use.

On "Veronica Mars" they used to show the logo on the first couple of episodes, but then they started putting post-its on it.

I am working with a couple product placement companies right now, and according to those sources everyone pays. Unless its a very low budget production or a pilot, even the largest brands pay to have get their product on a show. Now, sometimes that payment can be something as simple as a free product but those cost money too, and if its any major show its going to cost actual money beyond that.

this doesn't necessarily apply to apple products. if you are making a film or tv show and you are dressing a set in a certain way to place people or places in a context, there is often no alternative to apple products if the context is well designed etc.
