The WindowServer issue appears to be related to mouse movement- you can check this yourself and report to apple. In my case it spikes to as much as 130% CPU while moving the cursor with 1000Hz gaming mouse, on a buit-in trackpad or a normal 125Hz mouse it's about 40-50% and if you dont move the cursor it drops to as low as 1-2%. Someone on reddit reported it's somehow fixed in 11.1 so we'll have to wait i guess.

nope thats why im asking if anyone has

I think thats dev only? and I had the public beta profile and no longer.
It was released to public as well, im pretty sure we will see tons of little fixes in 11.1 this coming Monday when the update gets released, its the first major .1 release after the initial release of Big Sur and almost a month that apple had to fix and optimize the OS

It's somewhat better in 11.1 but still some choppiness here and there as well as other UI issues pertaining to the menu bar and Notification Center mainly. On that note, I just have to say the new Notification Center UI is just terrible. no idea what they were thinking with that one.

11.1 is not out to public. This is reference general operating system choppiness, which appears to surround windowserver

Well if it isn't fixed in 11.1 then its a serious bug. if it doesn't Clear with reinstallment and includes AS and intel then its not a good sign!

What is it you’re experiencing exactly? I don’t notice any choppy animations in window closing to dock etc

Does this seem normal? Just casual browsing in Finder through some document folders (<100 files in folders), mixed pdfs, photos, etc. Column view with preview, starts lagging after a few seconds and this is Activity monitor screenshot.

Big Sur fresh install. Macbook Pro 13 2020 i5 16GB touchbar, extended desktop to 5k Ultrafine.
This, basically.

Same happens at 4k but notably you'll find its whatever you do on the laptop screen, clamshell or on the external monitor.

I see nothing was addressed with 11.1. Integrated graphics is still a stuttering mess and discrete still has the very odd stutter.
It might be a bit better, WindowServer is now gone from the Activity Monitor. But yeah, it still stutters a lot more than Catalina.

I really hope Catalina is not the "last" usable macOS for Intel laptops.

Are you sure? I've noticed a vast improvement and I've noticed memory consumption reduce significantly.

Ive detected some stuttering here and there but nothing as drastic before the update. perhaps a full system restore?
