Choppy animations with Mission Control and some other UI elements persist even with 11.1. Using an 4K iMac from 2019 with Radeon Pro 560X (4 GB), so my hardware shouldn't be the problem. In Catalina everything was perfectly smooth.

it certainly less noticeable, but the fact that its on M1 Macs and intel Macs points to software optimisations issues potentially over graphics cards ...

Bothers a lot. But nothing we can do. Going back to Catalina is not an option as future hardware won't be supported (like Airpods).

Kinda getting "used to it", but it's really stupid to think I would rather just disconnect my 5k monitor and work on a small 13'' laptop all the time.

Just got a base M1 Air , hasn't done it so far on 11.0.1

odd...

it definitely would've shown up on my i5 2020 Air by now, an hour or two into use

I'm using a MacBook Pro M1 and I'm literally tired of a using a machine this powerful and the basic UI running at 30-40 FPS. I think its a basic software-problem or even intended. If nothing big is happening the FPS is ideling at 30-40 FPS and as soon as there is an animation it goes up to 60 FPS but the switching between the 30 <-> 60 FPS is what causing this unpleasant feeling for my perception.

Are you sure too it isn't the slow-ness of the panel? I don't have an M1 MBP, but I hear its slower than the MBA due to being higher quality. and 16" I think is way slower than both of those (ghosting, etc.). display wise.

I don’t think the MacBookPro 13 inch is slower then the MacBookAir 13 inch with one GPU less. Even if so, there should be no reason for the whole UI to feel laggy and weird for a machine this powerful

I don’t think it’s the panel.

Discrete vs integrated makes a difference on how bad it is. Others have mentioned it gets worst over time and a reboot can temporarily solve it or reduces it.

is it possible to go back to Catalina? I liked Catalina. Big Sur has really crapped up my MBP 16. Clicking on messenger takes up to 5 seconds to open app. out of nowhere there will be a delay in typing a message. I dont remember any of this with Catalina. Big Sur sucks.

Hello guys!

Just updated my MBP 16 2019 base model to BigSur 11.1 from 10.15.7, does anyone experience some issues while connected to an external display?

If i want to swipe between full screen apps, animations look laggy or like working with 30 fps...

I have an external LG ERGO 4K 32, which worked beautifully with Mac Os Catalina...

Thanks!

Okay, thanks for your answer.

I'm sorry for being so blunt, but it's really annoying. I have 2020 Intel 13'' top tier model and LG 5k Ultrafine. It was a stellar combination on Catalina. Portable, but with very decent screen when stationary. Quiet and smooth.
After BigSur, it's like night and day. Fans come blasting after some browsing through files with QuickView, everything stutters, etc.

Did a full reinstall, SMC and whatnot.

Frustrating.

This is vastly improved in .1 and potentially .2 , however I noticed after about a week of leaving the machine on that window server starts consuming too much CPU time and memory again and the system getting laggy.

It's obviously something the are working on as its improving on.
