Reinstalled sierra, and used latest CAT beta version since in the FAQ page it said that you need to use beta for Sierra. Macbook hangging again at the startup. The installation of CAT itself went just fine. What am I doing wrong here?

Did I have to disable SIP for this to work? Ok, just checked this, my SIP was disabled all the time.

Tried again, this time on El Capitan, same result. Cant boot.

I've checked the first post again. And I see that there is @sysfloat version attached. Should I have been using that? Because previously, I was trying stable version and beta version from the github links on the first post.

Sorry, I am no longer part of the CAT family. But to give you a pointer in the right direction, you should take a look for a new wifi/bluetooth card.
According to de diagnostics the wificard is not supported. ( new wireless card BCM94360CD + adapter) Buy here
And you are on 10.11.6, this is the 10.12.x section.

Best of luck with all!

CAT freezes my mbp 5,1 during boot on patched Sierra, is this project abandoned?

it does not appear so. It is working fine for me on the newest 10.12.14 beta. Make sure you are running the latest Beta version. I am using " OS X Continuity Activation Tool 2.4b5" ( I am using
MacBookPro8,2)

Thank You for your reply.
Yes, I got CAT is 2.4b5 the issue (boot hang) is probably caused because my mbp 5,1 (late '08) isn't supported officially by Sierra in fact I used macOS Sierra patched by dosdude1's script.

@kdc1 - there's 8 pages of information here. You've posted zero info about what troubleshooting you've done thus far to fix your issues. (btw - if SIP isn't disabled that's the first thing you should fix).

I'd start by reading what's already been posted.

If your system isn't supported by Sierra, that could add complications. You might be able to use Xpostfacto to help with that...I think there are other ways, but as my machine is not old "enough" yet to have to deal with that, I am not in need of that yet. I have an eMBP 2011, so I am sure that day will be soon.

I have already read the previous pages, SIP is obviously disabled because macOS Sierra is not natively supported on my computer (MBP 5,1).

this is a similar issue on GitHub project page: h**ps://github.com/dokterdok/Continuity-Activation-Tool/issues/351

I can install CAT beta but after reboot Mac freezes at apple boot logo, I can fix the boot freeze resetting pram and I have to reapply dosdue1's postpatch installation to fix grey (no hardware installed) wifi and bluetooth.

I have attached the logs file, if I restart, my mac will hang.

Actually, SIP can get re-enabled in various ways and your system could still boot. Typically it's the next change or update that breaks things.

You also didn't actually post your log file. You posted a screen capture from CAT.

Why exactly are you playing around with CAT anyways? Have you swapped out the Broadcom 4322 adapter in your MBP?
Pretty sure you only have BT 2.1, so I don't see the continuity / handoff features working for you.

Edit: Ok, so I went to Github - presumably you also have one of the USB adapters giving you BT 4.0.
I thought that CAT had issues with USB BT adapters though....

Did you disable the existing bluetooth adapter before you setup the USB adapter? (that could be part of the problem).

If you can find which modules are supporting the USB adapter, you could try grabbing the ones from an El Capitan installation and try patching them to your Sierra install.

But, seeing as how the problem was opened on Github back in October and remains unresolved, I'm guessing that was likely already tried....

1. My MacBook Pro 15" Late '08 (aka mbp 5,1) doesn't support natively macOS Sierra (10.12.x), it only support 10.11.x.
2. I got a usb 4.0 dongle compatible with CAT i.e. Asus BT400.
3. SIP MUST always be disabled to run correctly macos Sierra on this old machine and it always will be deactivated due to dosdude1's patch and it will never reactivate itself during a system update.
4. During CAT beta installation I have a lot of R-O file system errors and CAT is not able to backup IO80211Family.kext

Thank You for your efford, probably I have to give up the idea to have continuity features. :(

You're funny. I have the 17" MBP that came before that one. I can re-enable SIP and my system will boot up fine.
Now, do anything that causes the system to refresh the kernel cache (such as a system update) and boom, I'm cooked (as a number of the kexts aren't signed). I'd have to re-disable SIP and re-patch my system to restore the state of the kernel cache.

If you were getting errors with CAT being able to do its thing, then SIP may have been enabled. You can easily check that in terminal. csrutil status

But, I do think there are issues with CAT and those USB adapters....especially as that issue remains open on GitHub.

After not having it work even once in 10.12.x on my late 2011 MBPro with a replacement BT LE internal card (the aforementioned BCM94331PCIEBT4CAX card), I finally have it working today with 10.12.4 beta 3 (16E163f). Here are the steps I took. Maybe not all of them are necessary:

1. Turned off bluetooth
2. Uninstalled CAT (rebooted as required)
3. Deleted all preferences at /Library and ~/Library with the words bluetooth, ids, continuity, and cloudpaird in them
4. Logged out of iCloud
5. Rebooted. Reinstalled CAT (rebooted as required)
6. Turned on Bluetooth. Turned on Bluetooth sharing (I had never had this on before)
7. Logged back into iCloud
8. After testing that all worked, re-enabled csrutil using "csrutil enable --without kext"

I now have handoff working (before all I'd get was a blank Safari screen, no user switching in messages, etc.). Before I had other features working (Airdrop, well, airdrop only) and now full functionality has returned. Finally. I missed this.

P.S. What I wished would happen with the tool is that the attempt to back up the kexts would be removed (since it no longer works with 10.12.x) and the default option should be the restore with recovery option. Alternatively, something to that affect should be mentioned in the documentation/tool.

where did you get that kext from? I'm having the same trouble when rebooting after installing CAT. I'm running macOS Sierra on a MBP 15 mid 2009, pretty much same as yours. After not rebooting, I have reseted PRAM, and now I'm able to boot it, but my wifi isn't working, and the system has enabled SIP itself, and everytime I try to uninstall CAT it says I need to disable it first. When I try to boot holding COMMAND + R keys, it gives me the prohibition sign. Any suggestion to fix all this? Thanks.

Hello I successfully make Continuity work on macOS Sierra on a MBP 15" mid 2009 with GMYLE BT dongle.
I used the kext from Yosemite. I decided to remove continuity due to instability of the system.
