I just left android, and tmobile, for the iPhone 4s. I'm already missing the large screen I had on my Htc sensation. I am now on sprint, but am within my 14 days. I am seriously considering the GS3. Has anyone here been able to see a GS3 work and compare with their iPhone 4s?

Here's your chance to speak your mind. Let's forget whether iOS is better than android, let's focus on how well each phone works. How many others are feeling the same way? I've got the new iPad, so I'm leaning toward the gs3 since its android and I've got a taste of ios with my iPad.

So far, missing the widgets, live wallpaper, and size!

I guess the only thing that could make you stay with the 4S is the app store, which at this point in time is much superior to Google Play. Other than that, the OSes are pretty much a wash.

High quality apps, consistent software updates, devices are supported for several major updates, great customer support, consistent performance and fluidity.

Why should we (or anyone) try to convince you?

You said yourself what you like and what you miss. You can make up your own mind.

Even if anyone "convinces" you otherwise, you'll still end up missing the big screen and other perks and always wonder if it would have been better if you went with the S3.

I know the feeling you have when going from a large display to a small one. You can only tolerate it for a while. If you want to stick with Apple I suggest you wait it out for the next iPhone. But I have 2 problems with the next iPhone if the rumors are true. Only increasing it to 4 inches would have been nice last year. The S3 has 4.8 inches, the galaxy Nexus has 4.65 and the HTC one has 4.7 inch and all three has the typical 1280x720 resolution. Theses sizes are considered the norm. My gut tells me that Apple is going to stay with this new screen size and resolution for at least 3 to 5 years. Second issue is iOS. Apple is just not aggressive with the OS. I understand it's silky smooth, easy to use and reliable but it's time for a major overhaul. I pick up my wife's iPhone and I'm already bored in less than 5 minutes.
Apple is going to have to kill it during the iPhone announcement or I will get HTC's new monster with a 1080p display.

This is exactly how I feel about the iPhone and iOS at the moment. I am waiting for Apple to unveil the new iPhone and see what they bring to the table before deciding to go with the Galaxy SIII. But going by the rumors and what we know about iOS 6, more and more I think I am just setting myself up for disappointment, as it doesn't seems like Apple will introduce a bigger (as opposed to just slightly taller) screen and the iOS is very much the same with a few long overdue features included.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 has much better screen real estate and it's also a much faster phone. I would go for the Samsung Galaxy S3.

If you use the Samsung Galaxy S3 for 5 minutes and then go back to your iPhone, you'll first reaction will be how crowded everything is on the iPhone.

indeed. iOS 6 is basically iOS 5 with some cydia tweaks baked into it and the new iPhone is basically an elongated 4S (if the leaks are true).

Why do you want to be convinced to stay with the 4S? Everything you noted here is reason to stay with Android. Seriously. If you had Android, came to iOS, and need convincing to stay, obviously switching OS's wasn't the right move. Go back to what you are happy with.

While I (think) I understand what you are getting at, can't the same be said about every iOS improvement? I can't think of a major feature that came to iOS that wasn't first implemented, in some way, by a third party dev and installed via Installer (RIP) or Cydia.

I think you should have waited another month to compare the new iPhone to the S3 instead of the 4S

Exactly what this guy said!

FWIW, I am enjoying my GS3, but ALSO my friend whom I just took to get the 4S is loving hers as well!

I think you have to decide what the priorities in a smart phone are for you, and if screen real estate is near the top, the logical decision would to be to go for a phone with a larger screen, and lets face it, 4" tall phone ain't gonna cut it.

but if you can live with the screen and the great apps and customer service that apple has and thats a priority, stick with the 4S, worst case scenario, you can sell it and get what you want when the newer fall models are released, you might even luck into a lowered price S3 if that is how you decide to go.

IOS will never get a major overhaul b.c many businesses are using iphones and that is really important to Apple. They will improve and tweak things, but the core of IOS will stay the same as long as businesses proceed to use them....they have taken over blackberry's role.

Live wallpaper is a joke. It's a waste of time actually in my opinion. I personally never understood why people have to ask strangers to convince them to stick with something or give up something. The bigger screen was nice on my Droid but the screen on the iPhone 4s is so much better. I also prefer to pocket my phone and I don't want it popping out of my pocket so I like the smaller form factor.

If you are unhappy with the phone then get rid of it. I find that while there is a walled garden with Apple that you do get a device that seems to work rather well. Jailbreak it if you want more.

Apple is no longer innovating and is just going "me-too!"

Siri? Copied off Android 2.0's voice actions.
Notification center? Another balant ripoff.
Apple Maps? "Google Maps? Me-too!".
Passbook? Android has NFC now, what are they going to do? Proprietary format!
iMessage? Copied off tons of the apps.
Volume button for shutter? Again, copied off Android and an App apple even banned.
Larger screen? Copy copy copy.

You can see how Android is leading the way in innovation while Apple is just ripping them off, pretty-ifying it, and then suing Android manufacturers. Apple used to have a significant edge when Android was copying iOS. Now, the roles are reversed.

This is the beginning of Apple's second PC era. Closed platforms only work until open platforms pops up. The more devices and openness of android means more innovation and a better experience, while locked down, integrated platforms are doomed. With no Steve Jobs to save Apple, they're heading on a bad track.

People have a weird misconception about steve jobs and apple.....they still have 99% of their team =/

srsly?
(android, )google, samsung, motorola, apple, sony - those companies copy from each other since the beginning of time... pushing just apple in this situation is just not right or true.

I switched to the GS3 a month ago and really like the phone, no regrets switching from the 4s. After using a phone with a larger screen I would have a hard time going back to the iphone. Only thing that was tricky was getting the S3 to sync with all my Apple products but there are apps for that.

I will tell you something I encountered that really annoyed me. I brought my appletv to my GF's house and forgot the remote and could not find an app for that on the s3 =/

It's never going to get better with the iPhone unless Apple makes their OS grow up.

Just go back to Android already. You know you want it. Just wait for the next Nexus phone.

I owned the 1st gen iPhone all the way to iPhone 4. Then I switched to an Android phone (LG G2x) since I'm with Tmobile. At first, I was very happy with my Android phone and after owning it for more than 8 months, I got tired of it and always been wanting to go back to an iPhone but I know I was bored with the IOS as well.

So I went to the Tmobile store a few times testing out the GS3 and HTC one. In my honest opinion, GS3 is way better than HTC one....

Samsung did a great job with the GS3. Is it enough to convince me to buy it for more than $500 dollars? No....

Even though the GS3 has all the features, IMO there's just something with the iPhone that makes me wanting to go back. The simpleness, the retina display, the looks and the way it feels is what convinced me to go back so I ended up buying a used 4S.

I was very satisfied that I went back to the 4S and with my 4S being Jailbroken and added some nice tweaks, it's definitely in competition with the GS3. My sister in law owns a GS3 and comparing side by side, I'm more convince with the retina display of my 4S. So happy with my decision...

As for switching back, id rather not since it would cost me over $100 in fees to do so with sprint. $36 activation fee (non refundable) each time a new phone is activated, plus $35.00 restocking fee. That and I bought a $40.00 Seidio surface case+clip.

How about listing strengths that the Iphone 4s has over the GS3? Most here have had their Iphone for a year almost, and few here may have switched to the GS3. If the GS3 is that much better, I could take the $100 hit and switch to it.

I dont care for specs. I care for real world use and experience. Id like to hear from people WITH the Iphone 4s and ESPECIALLY those that also have had experience with the GS3 (played with it, know someone with it, ect).

This isnt a "I switched to the GS3 and it is better than your Iphone 4s so na na na" thread. Its a "I gave the GS3 a spin and here is why I am sticking with the Iphone 4s".
