Hi all, just bought U2723QE display for my MacBook Air M1.
I've noticed that the display integrated hub is detected only as USB 2.0 by my OS (Monterey), with consequent very low speed in case you have an hdd connected to the display.

Already tried to change the port, same issue.

Any idea on how to fix it? Thanks a lot!

Already did, it did not solve the issue.
Are you using the USB-C cable that came in the box?
Are you connecting via a dock or hub, or directly to the computer?
After setting "Display > USB-C Prioritization > High Data Speed", restart your computer.

If A) the display is not faulty, B) you are using the supplied cable connected directly to your Mac's thunderbolt port and C) the display is set for High Data Speed, the monitors integrated Hub will give you USB 3.2 speeds. Sometimes this is at the expense of resolution, refresh rate, or display colors.

I have the 32 inch version got it when released, it is a fine monitor but I was surprised that there was no internal speaker at all. There are tons of ports and 96w laptop charging.

Hi, if I may ask, have you found a solution to the integrated hub only being detected as USB 2.0? Thank you

Hi, sure, I've verified further, the DELL Hub is detected as USB 3.1 but speed are really slow (118MB/s vs 800MB/s with an ssd), can't understand why, I'm using the cable provided with the display, maybe it's something related to M1 architecture...

Hi, I understand, 118MB/s vs 800MB/s is definitely a difference. I'm asking because I'm trying to decide between the U2723EQ and the LG 32UN880-B. I know I'm not comparing apples to apples, but that's where I'm at. Other than the USB Hub, how do you like the U2723QE?

Great display honestly. It’s the fourth 4K monitor I buy (the others were sent back). Excellent white uniformity (best display I’ve tried, for that), very good results after calibration, good black and realistic colors (no oversaturation at all). Strongly suggest!

Glad you like it because I just pulled the trigger and ordered it. According to Dell it should arrive by about April 7. Was calibration necessary and if so, what did you use to calibrate it? Thanks ?

Honestly, to my eyes the calibration changed significantly the white temperature (cooler than uncalibrated) and improved a bit the - already very good- uniformity of the panel (maybe because with a cooler white the differences are less evident). Colors fidelity improved a bit too (delta <2 for each color).

The display maybe is a bit expensive but if you look for a good compromise between the professional and the home usage results, this is a good choice.

Let me know if you have other questions!

You did answer most of my questions, thanks. The only other question I have is: what program/device did you use to calibrate your monitor? I know there are a few different ones available. Thank you for you patience.

What you guys are thinking about The display? I’m considering it over The studio display.
Here in Brasil the price diference is insane.
1050 USD for the ultra 3223QE vs 2150 USD in a studio display imported of USA.

I'm using Spyder 5 Pro with Datacolor software. Tried DisplayCal too, but the integrated .icc loader does not work properly on my M1 Monterey.

I'm looking to comparisons between the U2723QE vs the lg 27up850, I will need a monitor for the mac studio, I pass for now on the studio display.

I prefer the design of the Dell but... design is not everything.

Have you calibrated it at all? Im curious what Adobe 98 color it can achieve...

I considered 27UP850 as well but went with U2723QE. My thought process:

Why U2723QE is better?
- IPS Black panel with doubled contrast ratio.
- More and superior ports as USB hub. (I think 27UP850 only supports 4K60Hz with USB 2.0 speed?)
- Built-in power supply.
- Slightly more DCI-P3 coverage (98% vs 95% of LG)
- Better design (to my eyes - not a fan of LG's curved base).
- Displayport chaining and KVM (in case I need to use it with PC)

Why 27UP850 is better? (and why they don't matter as much to me)
- 96w power delivery over USB C (compared to 90w of Dell) - the difference is really small.
- AMD Free Sync - I don't game.
- Built in speaker - I heard quality is mediocre.
- Lower listed price ($550 vs $780) - U2723QE is now on sale for $625, and Amex is offering $120 credit (valid before Apr 2), I actually got U2723QE at around $500.

thank you!

I don't care about gaming.

The Dell don't have speakers? the true I don't care about speakers, I have high end sound, speakers on displays helps sometimes for basic calls, sometimes I don't have the headphones ready but... no problem with no speakers.

90w vs 90w, silly question: that affect the bright of the display or something? due the less power. ?

Dell is looking better, no logo on front and yes the base.

I don't need a PC.

Let me know if you have the Studio how works with your Dell ;)

96w vs 90w has nothing to do with display brightness. This is how much power the USB-C monitors can deliver to a laptop to charge the laptop. So with 90w+ power delivery, for most laptops, one USB C cable can deliver video, data and fully charge laptops without the need of laptops' own power supply. If you use it with Mac Studio, this is irrelevant to you. The brightness of both monitors is rated as 400nit. So there shouldn't be any difference in brightness.

I don't have Mac Studio. I have a 2019 MacBook Pro 15 and a desktop Mac Pro. Both work very well with U2723QE.

good, so for now that Dell is my first choice, I possibly pass on the mac studio (for now, I hope they release a 32 in june that cost less than the actual XDR, we'll see)
