There is a book prequel too: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Deus-Ex-Icarus-James-Swallow/dp/0857681605/

IMO the book has a much better story than the comics but they are still good. Can't wait for August.

Thanks! I see its on the Kindle store so i might pick it up

Getting a new 27 inch iMac just for this game. :D

I can't get the high end iMac though, too pricey. :(

Looking at some of the great games coming out over the next few months im seriously considering just getting an Air/13" Pro and getting a gaming pc or a 360. I wish Apple would do a consumer tower. If i could put a better graphics card in my iMac then i would get so much more life out of it. Grumble Grumble  :)

I am pretty sure that any models (MBA, or macbook pro 13inch) can't handle Deux Ex HR due to they don't have dedicated graphic card. Intel HD 3000 is piece of **** honestly. again, people still don't get it when it comes to gaming. don't buy mac. this is right answer. if you want to do anything excepting gaming, it will be fine enough for MBA, MBP 13inch.

I have a MacBook Pro with the specs in the sig...

I am also bringing my XBOX to college.

What should I buy it for? I am leaning towards XBOX just because otherwise I only have one other game for it and my roommate and I could play it together easily, but do you guys think the gameplay might be different or is it just the graphics?

Gameplay is always the same and yet always different ... simply because of controller requires optimization of pacing and play that is different than the more responsive mouse & keyboard.

We really have no clue about optimization for PC, simply because what PC gamer called a 'review' is NOT.

I have given up trusting reviews that actually come out in PRINT magazines before the release date. Why? Do the math - you have type-setting, proofing, and so on required, not to mention the actual printing, and the writing of the review. This means that they were playing the game in ~June. That would mean doing it under supervision on developer hardware.

Not only that, it is well established that the only thing keeping mags and many websites alive is publisher-support through ads ... money which comes with strings - early access = >85% review. This sort of exclusive must definitely have come with even MORE strings.

I already have the game pre-ordered and am hopeful it will be very good ... but not basing anything on THAT review.

Yeah. Thats why i said i might just get an Air but also a gaming pc or a 360. The top end MBP is too much money for me to justify spending that much on just for the graphics card. I was thinking just get a cheap mac and maybe a dell tower or something :)

Id wait till more reviews come out to see what the differences are between the versions, and also how well it runs on your MBP. I personally would always tend to favour the PC version, especially given the fact that they are usually cheaper than the console ones, and you can have more eye candy.

IMO we need the successor to the 360 and PS3 out before too long. These consoles have reached their ceiling and we need the next wave to come through.

i have played the first part many times trying different strategies and the more i played it the more liked it....it is simply an awesome game. Second part was somewhat average as compared to first...but keeping my hopes up for the third.

At last its out! To great reviews too! Only wish i had a computer powerful enough to turn the graphics up to 10! I will wait until i get a better computer before i buy it.

I am having mixed feelings about this game.

Although it's awesome that we as Mac gamers are having as many gaming options as our Windows counterparts IF YOU USE Bootcamp or Cider, my concern is that it's making us dependent on them for AA titles.

Is a Mac version planned?

Doesn't anyone else think we deserve a native version that doesn't require us to buy Windows?

I feel the same about Gears 3. Tons of us will buy it, but will developers look at the ubiquity of Bootcamp on OSX and see that as an excuse not to make native games?

I preordered this on Steam last night, was gonna wait for a sale (never really played a Deus Ex game before) but figured I'd jump in now for the TF2 weapons.

Can't wait :) It's out in Europe in a couple of days so I've got till then to finish up on my projects! Hopefully it should work great on my 27" 6970 iMac under Bootcamp. I bet this is the first game that I have to lower the resolution on - it looks visually stunning.

This is an old discussion ... I think we all want native games, but a well done Cider port is better than a crappy native version! Of course, Cider doesn't need Windows, so it is only the Bootcamp option that is meaningful. The PC gaming market has always dominated the Mac market, and I feel glad that we have seen an improvement recently in available games. Would like more, but ...

Gears 3? You mean the sequel to the mediocre port (I said 'someone must have left those gears in the rain, since they got mighty rusty before landing on Windows!' in my review) and the game that never came to Windows? The one that also isn't coming to Windows? Why are we worried about the Mac on this?

Well Gears 3 is published by Microsoft so I wouldn't hold your breath, but with Mac sales getting better and better each quarter, more developers will be supporting OS X.

Maybe Windows will make a birthday video for OSX and release it alongside of Games for Mac Live.

Original Deus Ex was great. When I played it there were some scares about bio stuff in the news so it was extra good for me.

There is also a bit of a RPG element in it where you upgrade your player ability (you start off a weapons noob). You can also choose your route in good portion of the map, depending on character speciality.

You can get the original on steam.

I've got both of them! But like 99% of my library I bought them as they were on sale and still haven't got round to playing them. But Human Revolution I'm fully expecting to finish.

Going to buy this game, but I haven't even finished the Witcher 2, as I've been busy busy busy.

And because I like to share, I still have two physical copies of the original game, one from an OEM GPU bundle and the other a full retail box.

Anyways, looking forward to this one.

Anyone played this on a 2011 MBP yet? Curious how it runs :)

Without testing it, since it's not out till Friday in the UK and well there isn't a need really, it's the latest model of the MBP anyway:
2.0 - fine on medium
2.2 - amazing

I'm a bit concerned - I have a mid-2008 iMac with the GeForce 8800. I'm not getting my hopes up for how it's going to play, although I don't mind backing the settings and resolution down a bit.
