This is an old discussion ... I think we all want native games, but a well done Cider port is better than a crappy native version! Of course, Cider doesn't need Windows, so it is only the Bootcamp option that is meaningful. The PC gaming market has always dominated the Mac market, and I feel glad that we have seen an improvement recently in available games. Would like more, but ...

Gears 3? You mean the sequel to the mediocre port (I said 'someone must have left those gears in the rain, since they got mighty rusty before landing on Windows!' in my review) and the game that never came to Windows? The one that also isn't coming to Windows? Why are we worried about the Mac on this?

Spoken like someone who either has already plunked down their hard-earned money for Windows to install and take up space and resources on their Mac.

In what bizarro-world is this solution "good enough"?

I am pretty sure that any models (MBA, or macbook pro 13inch) can't handle Deux Ex HR due to they don't have dedicated graphic card. Intel HD 3000 is piece of **** honestly. again, people still don't get it when it comes to gaming. don't buy mac. this is right answer. if you want to do anything excepting gaming, it will be fine enough for MBA, MBP 13inch.

Deus Ex HR is hardly representative of how well Macs perform hardware-wise. Like Crysis 2, it's a game that demands more. To lump all Macs and all games together as though they were all high-end, high-performance, is short-sighted, and might lead one to conclude that your purpose on the boards was somewhat trollish.

So, don't say "when it comes to gaming, don't buy mac", because it's demonstrably wrong on so many fronts.

To be correct, you should have said "When it comes to playing Deus Ex: Human Revolution smoothly, don't buy anything less than a Macbook Pro with Radeon HD 6750 1GB, or the iMac with the Radeon HD 6970 1GB".

well, I just said that usually mac doesn't show the performance for gaming according to price point. with that price, you suppose to get high end spec including GPU. actually, imac you mentioned doesn't even use desktop version (it is desktop but why does it use only mobile version of GPU?). you can't explain it. so performance of gaming is not really improve unless you choose mac pro. mac pro is only one which equip with pure desktop version of GPU. now, many people still try to play some new games in their macbook pro 13inch or MBA. just stop. it doesn't work at all. Deus Ex HR is optimized very well for PC since I have played it 3 hours. everything is max out excepting vsync, tripple buffer off. it still runs 55-65 fps on my gaming laptop. but it is still not working for your macbook pro 13 inch(2011) or MBA (2011).

i'm playing it on my late 2010 27" imac i7 (via Steam on Windows 7). unfortunately, it only runs smoothly at 1280x768. it still looks great to me, though.

I hate staggered regional releases. Still waiting for the EU launch date.

That said, I did upgrade my PC graphics card to a GTX 580 :)

Uhjee, Monday is a bank holiday too. Sweet.

So the minimum requirements say an ATI 2000 series card.

The Intel HD 3000 outperforms the ATI 2400...does that mean it can run Human Revolution? Any testers?

you just don't understand how graphic card works. the most demanding games (including new games) requires 'dedicated graphic card' which runs interdependently. Intel HD 3000 is share graphic and doesn't have enough horse power to pull entire gaming graphic performance. when it says 'it can't', it can't. why do you still try to argue with it? just get gaming PC, man.

Hello guys! I just installed Deus Ex: Human Revolution on my Mac Mini 2011 and I'm having trouble getting the dolby digital sound to work. I have my mini connected to my home theater amplifier via an optical cable and the mini is running the latest Win 7.

When I launch the game I only get stereo sound. But in Windows I've tried the dolby digital test and windows plays the sound fine from every single channel so it's not a question of drivers(?). Any idea if this is a mac related issue (implying there's something about the hardware) or is this a universal problem with PC gamers alike?

Would appreciate any help, even an url to a helpful site would be much appreciated.

I run Deus Ex Human Revolution at my this config :

2011 Macbook Pro
core i7
8 gig ram
Radeon HD 6490M 1Gig

I turn off everything, I even setup resolution 1024*768, but game still look like slide show - 10 or 15 frames per second. Please, tell me how to fix this ?

Well I'm really liking it so far. Overall the graphics aren't that great, but the faces are brilliant. Loading is super fast (what's with all the complaints?), I barely have time to read the quick story text on the left.

But it's just great gameplay. Once I finish this I'll probably give it another play through, then try out the older games.

in windows_os_world driver update is very difficult operation !

I visit amd site few times. I try different drivers. Now I have version Catalyst™ 11.6b ( from here http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst116bHotfix.aspx ) Game do not start: pop up box tell me that my video system do not support DirectX9.

PS. Boot Camp Software Update 3.3 for Windows - do not help ! :(

Running it on my 2008 2.8 ghz Mac Pro with a 5870. Full settings at 1920x1200, and it's running absolutely smoothly.

Did you turn Dolby on inside the game?

Actually, you can update your graphics drivers right within steam now. Very easy and convenient. Just go to the Steam menu, or you can also go here.
