My daughter got ahold of my 10.5 and even though it had a tempered glass screen protector the screen still broke and it costed me $650 to replace my 10.5 through Apple. I learned my lesson and got it on my new 11" and 12.9". It literally costs $5.99 a month or $129 up front (11.99 a month for both of mine) to give yourself peace of mind. They are updating the pros around every 18 months, so it lasts through almost the entire time you have your iPad if you decide to sell when the newer ones come out. You still come out way ahead if you get the Apple Care + and have to replace it for $49. It feels good to know that if something happens this time around it will be a cheap fix.
