My daughter got ahold of my 10.5 and even though it had a tempered glass screen protector the screen still broke and it costed me $650 to replace my 10.5 through Apple. I learned my lesson and got it on my new 11" and 12.9". It literally costs $5.99 a month or $129 up front (11.99 a month for both of mine) to give yourself peace of mind. They are updating the pros around every 18 months, so it lasts through almost the entire time you have your iPad if you decide to sell when the newer ones come out. You still come out way ahead if you get the Apple Care + and have to replace it for $49. It feels good to know that if something happens this time around it will be a cheap fix.

I grumbled about buying it, but did anyway. I'd hate to pay the repair cost for a cracked screen on my 12.9.

My first iPad Pro did not have AppleCare and it malfunctioned outside the warranty period.

I bought AppleCare for the 2nd generation iPP and nothing happened.

With the iPad 2018, I did not buy and I accidentally crushed it and the repair cost the same as a new iPad.

With the third generation iPP, I bought AppleCare.

Really depends on whether you feel lucky or not.

The times when I did not buy, I needed AppleCare. But for the times I did buy, I did not use AppleCare. - _-

i have had apple care on everything but my current and previous phone (iphone 7 and iphone X).

i currently have it on my computer, watch, and ipad. when i get my next phone i plan on getting it because i plan on buying the phone outright.

I have always bought it for the iPad and it has saved me twice. Probably a wash in the long run but I like the piece of mind.

The aluminium case of this iPad Pro is as soft as tofu so I bought AppleCare+ for it. I usually don't recommend buying it.

I’m on the fence. Bought the pencil at the same time so it would be covered. The AppleCare price for the iPad Pro is pretty ok compared to new iPhones, especially considering the repair price of the 12.9. This is my third iPad and I haven’t had any issues that either wouldn’t be covered by normal warranty (9.7” Pro home button stopped working properly within a year, got a new iPad) or happened outside of the AppleCare window (screen on my old air that my MIL was using cracked for no apparent reason either this or late last year, purchased December 2013, so at least 4 years old)

I did get a nice reminder this morning when unloading the dishwasher in our 1 year old house with ceramic tile flooring throughout - everything that falls here breaks. Was it a sign?

I bought it for my 9.7 iPP and never used it. I’m still on the fence about getting it for my new 11 iPP. Fortunately, we have 60 days to decide and I really appreciate the new option of being able to pay for it monthly, so I probably will get it.

I had the same delema with my series 4 Watch. I had gotten AppleCare for my series 3 and never used it, but I still purchased it again. For my iPhones, I just rely on my carrier’s insurance, which with AT&T, has a declining deductible, so if you never use it in over a year, the deductible amount is only half when you do.

For Apple Watch there isn't really much point to buy it, it's almost always strapped to your wrist and the chance of dropping it is really low.

For the iPhone, the AppleCare+ price is just too insane and I can save the money for a new iPhone.

The iPad is the only thing I really dropped on the floor.... since I bring it with me everywhere at home to watch video and play music.

So the iPad is the only thing I bought AppleCare+...

Everyone’s perspective is definitely different and equally valid. I actually think AppleCare for the Watch was most important since I can easily imagine banging my wrist against something, and cracking or scratching the face of it. After which, it’s only $69 to get a replacement. The foremost fear for my iPhone is loosing it or having it stolen, which until this year, AppleCare didn’t cover, so the carrier insurance was the only option (although theft would be covered by my renters insurance). My iPad is actually the device I feel is the safest, since it’s used mostly at home and when I do go out with it, I have it in my backpack the majority of the time. As I began though, everyone’s perspective and uses will be different, as well as level of acceptable risk, so it’s very much a personal call.

If you would get a new device I would consider getting Apple Care for the 12.9”. I don’t like the thought of getting a refurbished one.

Get it on just about everything, not because I'm personally worried about damaging my device but as I'm the prolific upgrader in my family, and most of my devices are handed down to my wife or kids, it gets used quite often. :p

I get it for everything. I like the piece of mind. I don’t even know if I’ve used it, because when I have an issue, I just go into Apple and they take care of it, I don’t check to see if it’s AC or warranty. I’ve never used it for accidental damage, but I expect the first time I don’t get it, I’ll wind up dropping/breaking/damaging the device.

Ironically, my husband drops his devices all the time and usually doesn’t get AC, he just lives with the damage. After several aftermarket screen replacements, his 6s became almost unusable. I made him get AC on his Xs because it’s so darn expensive, it would suck to have to put an aftermarket crap screen on it.

I dropped my iPad 3rd generation so I now buy apple care for all my devices. $49 for a replacement is far better than paying for almost half the cost of the full retail price.

This is the first iPad in a long time that I bought AC+ for. Did so because of the bend videos.

I’ve never claimed Apple care despite having it for years , like most insurance it seems a bit pointless if not a rip off

Then again I may very well take it out in my new iPad as it looks like it could have issues in the future due to its extreme thinness

I put my 10.5 iPad Pro in my back pack yesterday in its usual pristine condition. Got to work, took it out to find what you can see in the photo - one corner smashed to bits with 3 massive cracks end to end screen wide. Gutted. My iPad is my daily driver so it’s an important device to me.

Thankfully I had AppleCare+. Jumped on the Apple Support app and kicked off a live chat within seconds. Within 5 mins a case was raised and new iPad ordered. No fuss. £39 charge. It would have been £369.

Less than 19hrs later, UPS just dropped off my “new” iPad.

This is why I buy Apple. Yes, it’s more expensive but the products are premium and the service is second to none.
