I have 6s+ and 8+ and they are great phones. No regret buying them at all. The Iphone 8+ in particular has a special place in my heart, and in my opinion the most refined iphone Apple ever released.

The last and only "max" iPhone I've ever had was the 6 Plus. I ended up moving back to a regular sized 7 when that came out. Sucks that the 12 Pro Max is getting some extra camera features but I doubt it's anything I'd really notice anyway besides the larger sensor for low light.

Take one for an up to a two week test drive if in the proximity of an Apple store?

I bought the 6 plus when it came out. Really liked the large screen and long battery life, but found it uncomfortable to carry in my pocket.

Switched to an 8 a couple of years ago. It took a little while to get used to the smaller screen, but I like it better overall.

This has happened to me as well, although I did keep the Xx Max for the entire year but boy am I glad to have switched back to the smaller 11 Pro.

This time thing and getting used to it just never worked for me. I had the 8 plus and the Xs Max back to back so 2 years of plus size devices and still they were as unwieldy and they were the first day.

One handed usage is just not an option with these devices and if you’re in Europe where public transportation is still the main method of commuting during rush hour, the pain of that huge size is felt every day.

I’ve been really happy with the smaller 11 Pro since last year. But I’m also a huge iPhone photography enthusiast. So I’m eyeing the 12 Pro Max this year but not sure at all if I’m going to regret it.

Size vs camera. It’s a tough decision for me. I have a sneaky suspicion that camera will win in the end. Let’s see....

This is the decision I'm struggling with right now: Do I go for the Pro Max because of the photo/video advantages, or do I go with the smaller form factor of the Pro? No doubt, the Pro Max has lots more going for it. Problem is we don't actually know how much better the Pro Max is than the Pro since we're still in pre-release. Tough decision.

I don't get this.

The iPhone 12 mini has nearly the same screen size as the old 6s/7/8 Plus models

That's crazy to think. I almost want to get my hands on a Mini in person before deciding. I've had the larger versions since the 6S and I remember thinking that 6S Plus screen was massive when I unboxed it.

Having said that, I am going from a XS Max to a 12 Pro. I definitely don't regret having larger phones in the past but I do think I want something a bit more nimble in the future. I think I've reached my size limit with the XS Max.

I’ve had the larger sized iPhones since the 6. I regretted the smaller sized iPhone X coming from an 8 Plus for two weeks and then switched right back. Going for pro Max again this year for
  1. Larger screen size
  2. Better Battery Life
  3. Better camera
Yeah, you get all that for $100 more. That’s a hell of a deal. I can wait a few weeks to preorder it, but I will be upgrading my wife from an XR to 12.

I’m 5’8 and can use this one handed if I needed to but of course this is meant to be a two handed phone. When my wife hands me her XR, I end up using two hands anyway so that part really doesn’t matter. Also feels no difference in my pocket than with the 6.1 inch phone.

My first iPhone was the 6s plus and at the time I only went plus because there used to be an advantage going with the bigger phones. And I kept going with the max phones for a while until the X. & that felt great in the hand and in the pocket. Then they made the max and I felt like it would be too huge now that we have to use the top of the screen as part of the ui. So last year I went with the 11 pro and this is where my regret comes in. The 11 pro is a good size but it started to feel small and I wanted to return it but I decided to just go bigger my next upgrade.

so I said all that to let you know I will be getting a 12 pro max this year and I’m pretty excited.

I will say, I think the 6.1 iPhone is the perfect size, but I have my eyes on the biggest screen possible

I've owned an 8 Plus and a XS Max and I can concur with everyone else:
  • The screen size is great if you consume a lot of media
  • The longer battery life is a plus
But, my hands aren't big, so from a comfort perspective it's harder to use these big phones.

I'm going smaller this upgrade cycle and pre-ordering the 12 Pro.

Although the mini is 5.4", the aspect ratio is quite different to the traditional Plus phones so it's still a substantially smaller screen in practice.

I’ve had the large phones since the 6 Plus and I’m finally tired of the size and going down to the 12 pro this year. I wouldn’t say I regret it I would just say that my usage and priorities changed. Honestly if there were a 12 pro mini I would snag it up in a heartbeat.

No regrets! I admit when my 6 Plus arrived on launch day replacing my 5..I opened that box and thought "whoa, this is huge!!" few thoughts of "cr-p is this too big???" - but quickly got used it. Some pairs of jeans pockets, not a great fit in the front pocket. I managed. For jackets, the phone would usually go in the inside jacket pocket..just because it felt more secure in there.

Had the 8+, but then got the X a month later. I simply could not get used to the smaller size of the X...that was returned in early Jan. XS Max now, still love it. Planning on 12 Pro Max. And yes, it's a tad larger, I know I'll be fine. I just can't go back to a smaller screen/phone.

I've been using Plus/Max since the 6 Plus, and I'm going down to the 6.1 Pro model this year. I'm ready for a smaller phone. The only concern for me is that it's slightly larger than the X, which I thought was too small. I'll try it and if it's not working, I'll just pass it along to someone else on my plan and get the Pro Max.

Max seems too big but the camera improvements have caught my eye. Bigger sensor and better images stabilization? That’s gotta translate to insane low light pics even better than what the 12 Pro can achieve. Also a price drop of $50 to get 256gb? Very tempted.

No not at all. Well maybe my regret would be not waiting. But my phone is still fine for my uses. No complaints.

i will never go back to the smaller iphone. i went from 6 plus to X 3 years ago and my eye sight took a hit that year i was using X. i know the actual screen size between the 6+ and X are similar, but at least that was my experience. i then went on to XS Max and 11 pro Max since then.

Many times and could maybe do the same mistake again. I regreted my first 6 Plus, went back to 6 and later the 6s. When the 7 came I went with the regular but after 6 months I tried the 7 Plus. Went much better than going from 5s to to 6 Plus. When XS Max came I went with that after my year with iPhone X. Big and heavy as hell but that phone I had the longest, 7 months before going to the regular XS. Now rocking the iPhone 11 Pro and until the keynote I was sure to go with 12 Pro but those cameras...

So stupid like I am, the chances for me to make "a dumb mistake" again with 12 Pro Max feels like really big.

I wanted a large iphone ever since I saw a Galaxy Note. I was going to switch to Android if Apple had not introduced the 6 Plus. I’ve had the largest iphone since then (except for the X: I wanted the new tech in that device), and I’ve never regretted it. The XS Max was what I’d been hoping for after the X. The big phones fit fine in my pocket, I love the feel in hand, and I love the extra screen real estate for reading, viewing photos and videos, etc. I’ve picked up my old 5s and my wife’s old 7, and I never want to go back to a smaller phone. YMMV 😃

I loved the Plus phones. The bigger screen size was a delight for content consumption and gaming. I skipped the X and got an 8 Plus instead because I was worried about going down to a smaller screen size. When the Xs Max came out, I eagerly switched...and wished I had stayed with the 8 Plus. The bezels on the plus phones made them very easy to handle, like you had a buffer around the screen. That disappeared on the Max and the screen itself got bigger, to what I realized was an unmanageable size for me. Throw in the added weight and it was just such an unwieldy phone. Putting it in my front pocket made sitting down an arduous process, and again the general ergonomics were just worse than the old plus phones.

I cannot imagine how difficult it will be to use a 6.7” edge to edge phone. Who the hell is clamoring for that?? Certainly not me. I switched from a Xs Max to an 11 Pro and didn’t regret it. I love the Pro screen size and am a little miffed they bumped it to 6.1”. So yes, I regret getting the Max and I won’t make that mistake again.

I bought an iPhone 7 Plus and am still using it today. I don't regret it. I wanted the larger screen size and love that. That said, it is difficult for me to hold in one hand, so I'm opting for an iPhone 12 (or 12 Pro, haven't decided yet) because the physical size is smaller, and the bonus is the screen is actually larger than my 7 Plus. I know the 12 Pro Max is roughly the same physical size as my 7 Plus, but I've decided that a slightly smaller phone would be better.

I'm very happy with the screen size on the 7 Plus, and even if the 12/12 Pro had the same screen size as the 7 Plus, I'd go with it.

I'm into photography, so I would love some of the camera enhancements on the 12 Pro Max, but I have decided to sacrifice them for a more pocketable and holdable phone (for me).

I tend to go back and forth, but lean toward the larger displays. Currently have the 11 pro and had the XS Max prior and the X before that and so on. But this last year has been a struggle, I will be 48 soon and my eye sight ain’t what it used to be! 12 Pro Max for me this time, the extra weight will take getting used too!

I have owned every Plus and Max phone that Apple has ever released. I will be going down to the smaller 12 Pro this time around, for fear that I would regret my decision if I went for this year's Max. I had to choose bigger or smaller and my 11 Pro Max was already sort of over the edge for one-handed comfort and wield-ability. 6.1" seems to be a sweet spot to me after having fiddled around with my mother's XR. If I miss the larger screen size and battery life I will return it and order the 12 Pro Max, but I hope I'm happy with the Pro.
