That's a good question.
Thanks for the detailed breakdown!

I did use to jailbreak up until the iPhone 5 and miss the ability to customise more. One reason I want to switch is having unique notification sounds for apps, rather than the generic tri-tone.

I will have to weigh up the areas I value most with the iPhone. I do appreciate the video, Face ID and the extra little refinement.

Swipe on the right side of screen swiping left to go back is soooooo nice to have again.
On iOS you can swipe from the left edge to right to navigate back, only the odd app here and there doesn't stick to this design. I always missed this when using older versions of Android.

I mean the right side of the screen. Tap the right edge of the screen and swipe leftwards to go back. I use that gesture all the time on Android, but it's not an option on iPhone.

Yes you can do the opposite on the iPhone, tap left edge of screen and swipe right. With Android you can do both.

Waiting for the 6 to drop to get the white 4 XL at an even bigger discount. It’s my favorite Pixel to date and I can’t wait to own it. ?

Am I wasting money? Probably. But to this day, I still think about that Pixel.

So the more I use my Pixel 5a, I am reminded how much easier and just better it is to operate the UI and gesture navigation on stock Android compared to iOS and the iPhone. Just moving around the UI and operating the phone, I just find way easier and more fluid to get around on Android compared to iOS.

Yes the hardware and build quality of the iPhone 12 Pro Max, is top notch, just the best. But man iOS feels so outdated and a strange phone to navigate and frustrating to use. I can now say, this Fall I will permanently get rid of the iPhone, and not regret it.

Now this Pixel 5a is fine and all, this phone hardware is ok, but I can only imagine what a higher end Pixel 6 Pro would be like :)

What's your experience with under display fingerprint readers? Would a bad reader ruin the experience for you? I breifly had a S21 but the ultrasonic reader on it drove me nuts, maybe the optical one (I think?) on the Pixel 6 will work better for me. This and video performance will be what decides if I get the phone or not. Probably will wait a few months to see if any major issues surface.

I have a S21+ and think the fingerprint reading is fantastic.

Now I wish the iPhone was customizable like this guys sweet iPad setup, this looks AMAZING, but wish it wasn't so gosh darned difficult to do on stock iOS, or can it? What are those 5 or 6 widgets on his left side? They're all the same shade of matte black, and add to to cool look.

yeah I would never do that too much hassle. not convinced apple will ever let people theme their phones as it’s not really their style. But hey if they allow widgets who knows maybe they will at some point

Thing is, Apple could make a killing allowing paid themes on iOS. Yes Apple could keep a close eye on it, and be strict with it, and maybe not be as open as Android is with customization. But imagine Apple allowed some of that, and obviously get a % of the sales off the App Store, they'd easily make a **** ton extra money.

At the end of the day I just prefer the UI and layout and how Android OS works over iOS.

But I will admit the hardware is built so well on this 12 Pro Max, and seeing what some of these talented people do with Jailbreak iPhone's is AMAZING cool stuff, a well thought customized JB iPhone is way cooler than a tweaked Android IMO, but to get that iPhone or iPad so customized it's a frigging boat load of work, and trial and error, and not easy, and just so many steps and steps to get it done.F that, I'll go Android.

But one thing did come to me is that the iPhone is about the apps, once you click app and are in it, they are just designed better with more options and polished look over Android apps, fact. So the iPhone isn't about customizing the home screen to look uber bad ass cool, that's not the point, it's to click your app, then the phone shines. If that makes any sense?

While I disagree on the assessment that iOS is harder to use than Google's OS, I 110% agree with this! I was actually surprised that they didn't jump on the opportunity to make a theme store considering how many people have been using shortcuts to create custom icons. Would have been a cash cow for Apple and approved developers.

Who knows maybe we see something in iOS 16. I think given how much they love services it makes sense. I just think apple love to have their model as known everywhere but if they go punch hole the iconic look becomes like every new android device anyway

I agree with @mjschabow — can’t believe Apple hasn’t added theming to the App Store. Same goes for Apple Watch faces. Apple is all about boosting their ‘services’ income and both of these feel like easy money.

I am loving my Pixel phones again. Goodbye iPhone.

So now that I have Android 12 beta 5 on both my Pixel 4 XL and 5a, I have to say I'm really digging this funky cool new design. It's kinda wacky weird, but fun and very fresh.

The Material You think in all the Google System apps is just hip, and cool. The calculator app or clock app is fun to look at.

And the performance is super smooth and very fluid on both phones. And the gesture navigation is just so well thought out and easy and feels great to use.

So sorry, iPhone, but I'm done, iOS feels like it's from the stone age now, and just operates worse IN MY OPINION. I'll wait till some future iOS version down the road to try it out again.

The only thing I will miss when I go back to Android is getting PayPal from Google Rewards instead of store credit like on Android

1. How did you like Siri? I tried to use it Saturday and it was terrible, might google's version.
2. glad you decided to ditch the iPhone, android v12 is much better and much better organized.

I'll do the same one day when I can find out the best way and cheapest way to deal with all my Apple stuff.

I disabled Siri the day I setup the phone, never once used it. I refuse to say the words "Hey Siri" not a chance I'm saying that to my phone LOL
