In dota using the chat wheel triggers it which is kinda annoying, presumably because it's moving the mouse programmatically

Actually, he's wrong. It still gets bigger, but the size difference is less noticeable.

Also, still no setting to disable it in DP3. For me so far it's the Yosemite green button all over again. Expecting a setting to appear in each new beta, but it's absent from every one.

And it's going to remain absend because Apple thinks it's a good idea. That's how they work, putting the option to disable it would mean they didn't think it through in the first place. Maybe they add this in 10.12 if enough people hates it.

I really hope someone figures out a way to disable the shake-to-find-cursor, because right now it's the worst feature ever in El Capitan, quite simply because there's no option to turn it off! Personally, I REALLY, REALLY don't like it.

before jumping to conclusions lets wait for them to finish it, it's not even general beta yet, it's for devs right now.
Actually, I agree with @aevan. I refused to except that Yosemite would be released without a feature to change back the default behavior of the green button from what Apple thinks is a good idea, but of course it never happened. I won't be fooled twice.

Since your post it has entered Public Beta, and the setting is still absent.

It's disabled while Screen Sharing, if that solution works for you.

How is that a solution? :D

You could leave the Screen Sharing window open in the background on another Mac which will result in it being disabled ;)

At least it's better than suggesting you turn your cursor size up to the max so the magnification is less noticeable :D

I'm screen sharing to my Mac mini right now from my iMac, and the cursor is still big on wiggle.

Really? I tested both my late 2013 rMBP and late 2008 MBA and just having the Screen Sharing window open to each display disables it on both.

Yep, really. I'm sitting in front of my 5K iMac remote desktop-ed into my Mac mini, and the wiggle still makes the cursor big.

Either way, not a solution. :D

Wait, are you saying the cursor still becomes big on the Mac mini or the iMac? It only affects the Mac who's screen is being shared, not the one where the Screen Sharing window is open.

Ahh. I follow you. Well, I don't share that way around. :D

And if you can't find it in the accessibility settings, another way to get rid of the problem is to run over your Mac with a truck. Preferably a Mack Truck.

100% success rate, guaranteed!

Report, report, report. Complaining here doesn't help. If you're in the beta, you might want to make use of the Feedback Utility.

I've found that enabling this option in Team Fortress 2 helps alleviate the problem significantly. You can still activate it and get the gigantic mouse in the middle of your game, but you really have to wiggle it quite determinedly. The main thing is that it doesn't activate during normal gameplay with this option turned ON (most of the time anyway). If other games you're playing have a similar option, try it there too.

using this option in TF2 helps but doesn't alleviate the problem entirely. For me (PB1) it just makes the cursor enlarge in the corner near the ammo display.

This. Plus: gaming. There are plenty of times while gaming that this could be annoying.

Most games use a custom cursor anyway, so the feature will probably not be available in games anyway.

I must say that some times I would love to have this feature in a game like Heroes of the Storm. Sometimes I lose the cursor when there's lots of stuff happening on screen.
