So sad. :( just saw the video on the new S4. It's BEAUTIFUL!!!

So thin. Screen from end to end like those infinity pools.

I hope Apple makes the iPhone 5 S amazing. Can't wait to upgrade if it is :( :( :(

well, i have the same feeling as you, but who knows, maybe we will get more surprise from the new iPhone 5S.:p

The iPhone 5 looks a bit disharmonious to me. I still think my old iPhone 4S looks better.

I felt like the iPhone 5 was outdated when it was announced, by the 4s. The iPhone 5 just looks and feels... wrong somehow. It's too long, and too light maybe? It just doesn't feel Apple-y.

Except the galaxy is made out of plastic and my phone is glass and metal.

Oh I don't know does galaxy run iCloud yet?

It does. Only it's Google's version, because it runs Android and not iOS.

Nope. Looks like a Galaxy SIIIs to me. A spec bump and a few new software options. Funny how Samsung is following Apples lead here. I honestly don't know what else could be revolutionary on a smartphone whether it is iPhone or Samsung etc. They have all pretty much caught up to each other and I really don't expect much anymore except spec bumps.

How can Samsung be following Apple's lead if there isn't anything else revolutionary left for smartphones? Its not like Samsung just said, "well we could release some groundbreaking feature but won't because Apple has incremental upgrades".

Samsung isn't trying to copy Apple with the incremental upgrade and honestly they haven't. Samsung has released a ton of features, some more useful than others. Apple has made minor changes to iOS since 2007. The next revolution in smartphones won't be until flexible displays (and possibly components). This is something Samsung is already trying to do, but you know it won't ever come to market unless Apple does it first...

Just like Apple Samsung release a new phone with no huge updates because they did not need to. The only reason companies make huge changes if what they did before did not work. They now have a phone that will fight head to head with the next iPhone, and in my mind if Apple does not change much then the S4 already won.

Correct.

The iPhone 5S, will look even more outdated for 2013 flagship smartphone.

I COULDN'T agree with more than this. If the 5 S comes with a faster processor, better camera, and fingerprint sensor,

IT'S A WRAP!! AAPL at $350 a share.

I would SERIOUSLY consider switching to the S4.

I like how you android haters are saying the gs4 is lacking in innovation and is like apple that it has not brought anything new.

This phone going from the gs3 to gs4 added more features alone then all of the features apple has added in the last 5 years.

The phone will even take your blood glucose reading if you are a diabetic.

Sour grapes from the haters lol

Good night!

So glad Samsung didn't focus on retarded social media integration, like Facebook and Twitter.

Good night!

Let me start by saying, I could care less for the features the S4 has. To me, they are completely useless. I mean, if i'm gonna be distracted enough to need the smart pause, then i probably need to put my phone up. I've never found myself wanting a feature like those described, on my iPhone. Never once crossed my mind.

Since you bring up diabetic, I happen to be one. I have a glucose reader so that eliminates the need for me to "check" it on a phone. It's not exactly a medical breakthrough if you ask me. When it finds a cure for Diabetes I'll get back to you on that.

We aren't haters. We simply do not care. I'm glad Samsung has released a phone that pleases all of you android lovers out there. For the rest of us, we will stick with what works for us. Threads like this truly are pointless. There are already a few new topics about the s4. This topic could have been started in one of them.

Not at all.

iOS works just like it did yesterday and it's still my favourite OS (at the moment).

Like this?

There are a lot of new features, but saying they've added more than Apple has in the last five years is insane.

Very outdated indeed. Especially iOS. It is so static and so old. I see all the flexibility with Android and I have second thoughts. They took a gorgeous no-bezel display, a better camera and a larger battery and stuffed into a smaller, thinner package.

When the iPhone 5 was released, IMHO it didn't overtake the SGS3, the two main stream tech magazines in the UK (T3 and Stuff) both agreed, in those two mags, even before they have tested the new HTC and SGS4 the iPhone is in about 4th place. All other iPhones on release, have gone straight to the top spot in both those mags and more interestingly have stopped there until the next iPhone was released. I fear that the iPhone will not be dominant again until mid 2014 at least, IMHO the iPhone 5S won't have enough to worry the SGS4.

what a stupid question. of course it wont use apples own cloud system but it can use plenty of other cross platform cloud systems just fine.

Every phone (tablet, laptop) was outdated the day it came out

Fixed that for you. Seriously, every time something new comes out it's "more advanced" than older products. That's just the way tech works.

My 2 cents:
gestures -> cool

eye control -> lol

The overall design of the iPhone does seem outdated, however; I had the Samsung Galaxy S3 and it was only nice for two things - larger display and less OS restrictions. Aside from that, it was crap. I've had my iPhone 5 for weeks and it's working great. The Samsung was laggy and didn't always work as advertised. A major downfall on the SIII was the default keyboard. It was useless and you had to install a third party app (Swiftkey) which took about 30 MBs of RAM to run, in turn leaving the user with a lag issue.

Other features, such as driving mode that spoke texts was great but only worked about 50% of the time. S-Voice was worthless although Google Now took care of that. The gesture features never worked right, the browser crashed or locked up after maybe an hour of browsing, and the screen cracked so easily. I've been browsing the net on this phone for nearly 3 hours at work and things are smooth.

Do I miss the larger screen? Yes but it was also inconvenient at times. Was it nice having more control over setting and shortcuts to WiFi on the notification bar? Sure. Apple can put those in iOS anytime, they're just lazy. Widgets? I noticed most android widgets eat battery like no other so I never used them.

I suspect the S4 will be the same as the S3. Full of great looking features you'll never use. All this crap really is gimmicky. The focus should be on features people want with motivation to make them work. I'm new to iOS and Apple. I'm a long time Windows and android user (and Linux). The issue I have with android and their associated manufacturers (Samsung, Motorola) is that they introduce stuff that doesn't work or hardly works then abandon it or leave it broken. Fix things and support your devices! It just seems like bugs are left to hang out while new junk is introduced. The SIII had a garbage keyboard and Samsung knew it but left people to swim with third party apps. Stupid.

I expect more of the same from Samsung, so long story short, yes the iPhone does seem dated but it works fine for email, texting, and browsing. Like the temp sensors in the S4. Temp sensors on those handheld weather devices are inaccurate so I'm sure the S4 will be too, but users won't care because it's a "feature".

Boy do I wish Apple produces 5S with a bigger screen (5"+), 1080p, new iOS with quick access to settings, real multi-tasking and a better screen to phone size ratio (make the bottom part/home button smaller, or make it a virtual button)

I'd go back to Apple to at least try it if they do the above. I'll just have to manage my space (lack of micro sd) and get a mophie battery case (lack of removable battery).

I have faith Apple will still do something mind blowing then everyone will catch up.

Like I said the infinity screen just blows me away though and the thinness.

I would love to see the iPhone 5 S or 6 be ultra thin with a screen edge to edge.

Orlaam,

I suppose you and I use phones differently. For me, I primarily use 2 widgets: world time clock and traffic. I have business contacts spread over a few continents so in one of my screens I have time for about 7 or 8 different cities so I can tell what time is it and when I can make calls/join conf calls. For traffic it's a single button click that tells me how much traffic I will have to a certain office/home and approximately how much time I need to spend going there. I use these 2 things every day, they are simply indispensable.

I use swiftkey on Note 2 (it's built-in to Note 2 and will be built-in to S4) and it doesn't lag at all. Quite a few of my friends have S3 and I have never heard of them complained about lag with swiftkey. We all migrated from Apple to Android in the last year and half or so. So I don't know why yours would lag.

Not only have I not had browsers crash, I would have multiple browsers open in multi-screen so I can check on 2 things at once if needed. Sometimes during conf calls I would be browsing the net for hours.. Never a problem.

To be honest, I actually hope Samsung really beat Apple to the ground with this round of cell phones so Apple can wake up and really innovate/evolve again, both software and hardware.

The overall design of the iPhone does seem outdated, however; I had the Samsung Galaxy S3 and it was only nice for two things - larger display and less OS restrictions. Aside from that, it was crap.
