iPad Pro Do you guys feel we will also see the iPad Pro's on Sept-12 ?

What does everyone one feel here ? now that it is almost unofficially sure that Apple is holding the key event for the iPhone announcement on Sept-12 do you guys think Apple would also announce the iPad Pro 2018 along side it ? or does it looks still far off to be scheduled in October or September ?
 
Most rumors say fall of this year so either Sept or Oct, but no one knows which. On one hand they could do it in Sept with a big iOS themed event, and the macs all get silent refreshes later as the MBP did.

Or they could announce it in October with the macs as they have done in the past.

2 weeks until we find out :)

It is but October is also in the fall, so basically the rumors just say it will launch sometime between September and the end of the year, and Apple has launched many ipads in October/November before (iPad Air, Air 2, first iPad Pro)
 
I guess the new iPad release depends on how Apple looks at the iPad. If it’s an iOS device like iPhones and watches, I’d think it would be introduced with the other iOS devices.

If Apple believes that whole “what is a computer” spiel, then maybe the iPads will be introduced with the new Macs later this year.

I think they’ll get introduced with the other iOS devices myself. I hope so, because I want a new 10.5 model to replace my original 12.9. :)

I think that we will not see a new iPad in September. (don't get me wrong I want to see one).
When we look at the new registration of iPhone models for EEC (via Consomac.fr), they were registered as 'works in iOS 11' in April but they recently (July 13) updated that registration with the exact same model numbers with 'works in iOS 12'. Additionally recent registrations for Apple Watch show that it works in WatchOS 5. So when it comes to the iPads, yes we have seen 7 different model registrations but they were all registered under 'works in iOS 11'.
So my guesses are :
1. we will soon see a new update to that registration with the same model numbers but for 'iOS 12' and see them come out in Sept.
2. They will keep the iPads for a later date.
3. Consomac or other websites couldn't get their hands on a EEC registration leak (highly unlikely)
4. They will release the iPads with iOS 11 (highly unlikely as well)
 
My gut feeling is that we will get iPhone and Apple watch in September. Then another event in October for iPads. Really that's based off nothing but a feeling though.
 
I am leaning no at this point. I think we'll see iOS 12, iPhone's, and Apple Watches on Sept. 12th and then they will have another event in October for Mojave, Mac's, and iPad's. It makes sense to start grouping iPad's with Macs as they are both aimed at productivity. Apple already started this by making iOS for iPad a big talking point at WWDC the last couple years. In my opinion, iOS for iPad will see a ton of development over the next 3-5 years.

The iPad Pro hardware might be ready, but the iOS team is clearly overworked. Launching 3 phones and 2 watches means a lot of work for the software team. Deferring the launch to Oct/Nov won't be a big deal but it will give them a break to catch any show stopping bugs.

Out of all of Apple’s products, new iPhone releases continue to get the most attention, so it might be smart to showcase next gen iPads at the same event. Who knows. The rumored design overhaul, if true, will be an attention grabber regardless of when they’re unveiled.
 
My hope is September. Half hour on new iPhones, half hour on new Apple Watch, half hour, maybe less, on new accessories like AirPower Mat and new AirPods (I'm guessing less since they've already been announced). That even leaves time for the new lower cost Mac if they want to squeeze it in. I don't think this fall really requires two events, and I get the feeling Apple prefers it that way.

Agreed, I think Apple would prefer to just do one event assuming everything is ready to launch. Fingers crossed I can get a new iphone, ipad, and watch all at once

Those are the three things I'm ordering this year as well. I figure if they do wait on iPads, I'll have a new watch and iPhone to mess with while I wait.

Yeah I’ve really been itching to upgrade my hardware as everything I own is 3-4 years old, but the new Xs plus will keep my mind off the ipads for a bit if they are delayed.

If I were forced to pick one thing to upgrade this year, it would have to be my Series 0 Apple Watch. This thing has served me well for 3 1/2 years and I've worn it every day that I've owned it, but I'm at the point now where I don't know how long the battery is going to last on any given day. It's very sporadic and finnicky and getting very slow in day to day use.

Last year, Apple spent 20 minutes on iPhone 8 alone.

Look at who iPhone 6.1" targets. Apple will spend a lot of time talking to the 1.4B consumers across the Pacific Ocean about dual-SIM, Apple Pay (vs. Alipay), and their ride hailing investment (Didi).

You can bet Apple will spend at least 15 minutes on self-congratulatory slides outlining the success of iPhone X, iOS adoption, Apple retail, etc.

This doesn't even include time for the $1B Apple is spending on original TV programming.

I don’t think they’re going to be spending a lot of time talking about video programming at a hardware event. They’ll do that when either some shows are ready to go or their new video service is ready. There are no rumors I’ve seen that indicate those are on the roster.

Also for the last several hardware events, they’ve skipped the self congratulatory slides and videos and replaced them with “everything is going great”. They usually save the iOS stats and app revenue bragging for WWDC these days.

The September Keynote is not about hardware only.

  • 2017: 20 minutes - Jobs tribute, Apple Park, retail; 15 minutes - Apple TV 4K and content
  • 2016: 20 minutes - Music, App Store, Mario, Education, iWork

MacRumors has 3 pages of articles about Apple's Hollywood ambitions. Apple is expected to spend $4B by 2022. When else would they talk about this?

I’m just saying there are no rumors to indicate they’re ready with any of this content yet. I don’t really feel like beating this dead horse though—you seem to have an ax to grind for some reason.

yeah I hope they do but I have doubts. between iOS12 and the budget bezeless iPhone I feel like Apple has a lot to get through already. And then there's the series 4 Apple Watch which will probably be the first major form factor revision so that will get some time as well. Not to mention when are we seeing the 20th anniversary update to the iMac? I'm betting MacBook and MacBook Air updates are later in the fall (based on today's intel chipset announcements). I hope they squeeze the iPad in as I'll be getting one as soon as its available.
