Here's the pictures you requested.

Thank you. Those pictures confirmed what I'd suspected, that it was just the angle. I currently run dual 19" WS monitors at work, but there's no MBP for me to compare them to (yet. :) ) I think the 20" ACD will work nicely for me.

The mouse in macbook just isnt as responsive as the mouse in normal pc..

That's because your mouse acceleration settings are different. You can change these though, to make the Mac as "responsive" as you are used to. People can also make a pc as "unresponsive" as the macs they use.

I thought this before too. But once I went to the mouse properties, I made the adjustments to the sensitivity to the Wireless Mighty Mouse and I have no regrets and am extremely pleased with my WMM.

The iMac G5 doesn't support external monitors as well as the newer intel models without some soft modification.

I had this problem with my iBook as well and the first thing i did was google it.

G5 screen spanning.

Amazingly this simple search turned up what i needed.

Screen Spanning Doctor

As for the MacBook Pro. It will work fine as all Pro models have.

G5's do to i had one for 2 years with a 20" dell hooked next to my 2.0 g5 iMac 20"

You can stretch your desktop over both screens. However you couldn't use screens with different resolutions, both screens would be set to the highest supported resolution on the small screen.

This is a different setup and only works because both screens you had were the same resolution. For your setup the dock and menu bar would have been stretched across both screens.

here's my setup taken 5 min ago... (damn crappy phone cam). i use a 23" cinema. i love this monitor.

Nice set up. Love the apple 23, but couldn't justify it to my needs (casual gamer). Also like the S50, couldnt live without sirius (and stern).

If people in the states are looking for a good monitor for cheap, try here. Frys has a 22' viewsonic for 199. yeah its refurbished, but people have had great luck with them. Thinking about pulling the trigger on one myself.

Do you mean the tracking?
I already set it to max..

thanks, i was wondering if anyone would notice the s50. it's on H100 :).

yeah, if i wasn't a designer i would have gotten something cheaper. compared to my 20" dell, the color and gradients are noticeably nicer, so i felt it was worth it. i think you should go for that viewsonic, looks like a good deal.

Does anyone have a mbp hooked up to a Sony XBR2 40 inch or something comparable? I plan on purchasing a mbp after the refresh and was going to hook it up to that display. Wondering how it looks. Thanks for your input.

Does anyone know if there is a way to run DUAL monitors? Like for example from the output of the Macbook Pro, Run 2 20inch cinema displays or something. I know you can use the MBPs screen and the external, but can you like have just 2 x 20 Cinema display?

i use a 17inch monitor, but when i set it to mirror, it goes all widescreen on me and doesnt use the full screen space, what do i do?

Same thing happens to me, which is why I want a widescreen monitor bad. I can't stand running in the extended mode. Apple needs to figure out a way how to mirror the menu bar and dock onto the extended screen as well. Anyone know how to do that?

Another annoying thing is the wallpaper management and icon positions. Give me a central place to manage all wallpaper for all previous configurations. Also stop moving icons on me. I found a script that will reposition icons, but give me a break, why should I have to run that everytime crap moves around.

No heat issues... the macbook vents from the back. Clamshell mode is supported by Apple.

Yup, clamshell mode is supported by Apple. I used my Macbook this way for a few months, and it ended up ruining the screen on lower left-hand side - the side where it gets really hot.

The casing around the screen started to bend a little, and it separated from the screen. The screen also looks a little dimmer around that area. I'm almost 100% sure this happened because I was using it with the lid closed. I definitely don't recommend it.

i must be missing something here. it sounds like you're saying you can't use a dual-display setup with different resolutions. but that's what i've been doing for years on my powerbook (pbook 1024x768, external 1280x1024, simultaneously). and i love it. could never go back. i seriously don't get why people would ever use clamshell mode and just throw away that extra screen real estate--it's so useful! perfect for parking some page or other document off to one side for quick reference while working on two others, or something big. or just having the smaller display dedicated to email, or itunes, or whatever. i'm always surprised by how often people think the dual-display setup is strange. the only bad part is how much dimmer my powerbook display is than my samsung, but that will all change in a few weeks when i get my new LED-backlit MBP! :)

question..

hey, im interested in gettin a macbook to hook up to my Cinema display.. my question is, for those of you using an external display-especially the 20"ACD, does the macbook fan come on alot? and is it loud? also, what is the graphics performance like when using both displays together?
Ideally i'd just buy the macbook pro instead but funds arent amazing and i cant push myself to pay that much just to have the built in graphics..

PS. for anyone ever expecting apple to put a 'real' graphics card in a consumer laptop ever again, your sadly and foolishly mistaken.. they are turning evil! (i hope i eat my own words)
