Does anyone have a mbp hooked up to a Sony XBR2 40 inch or something comparable? I plan on purchasing a mbp after the refresh and was going to hook it up to that display. Wondering how it looks. Thanks for your input.

Done it with my Samsung 40" 1080p LCD and... WOW. I'll snap some pics tonight!

hey, im interested in gettin a macbook to hook up to my Cinema display.. my question is, for those of you using an external display-especially the 20"ACD, does the macbook fan come on alot? and is it loud? also, what is the graphics performance like when using both displays together?
Ideally i'd just buy the macbook pro instead but funds arent amazing and i cant push myself to pay that much just to have the built in graphics..

PS. for anyone ever expecting apple to put a 'real' graphics card in a consumer laptop ever again, your sadly and foolishly mistaken.. they are turning evil! (i hope i eat my own words)

Negatory. The fans are incredibly quiet in the new MBPs. At 2000rpm I don't hear them and I don't notice things getting any more noticeably hotter or louder when I'm driving an external panel with a 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 signal. Remember it's not the size of the screen but the resolution, so even a 65" LCD at 1080p would be no harder on it. Same signal, only the res counts.

Here;s mine, though my external monitor is not as impressive as other peeps above

ok sweet-thanks for the reply, think im gonna go the macbook route as i can get the base model for 600 pounds with my HE discount and then whack 4GB ram in it.. it'll do me fine.. more than fine

I'm not using an external display, but I do keep my MBP on an mStand and use an Apple Wireless Keyboard/Mighty Mouse combo. I'm very happy with this configuration.
