I love the feel of glass and metal. So for me Glass protector front and back. Aluminum bumper. Aluminum lens glass protector. Phone feels like the way it’s meant to be with protection.

For those that don’t use a case, do you have any concern with placing the bare phone on a table or other hard surfaces? Does it cause any scratches or other “wear and tear”?

Apple silicone case. I literally never take it off. This is my first pro phone. I know the case collects a lot of lint. Hope leaving the case on always doesn’t cause the stainless steel to scratch.

I‘d rather use it caseless, but it’ll probably slip out of my hand like my iPhone 6 did, cracking the screen 😢

I just don’t wanna take the case off. I feel like I’ll have to thoroughly clean the phone and case before I put it back on.

Yes because I don’t want dents and scratches on it. I also use a glass screen protector. I usually alternate between a clear case and a silicone case in my colours of choice.

By the way, using caseless my previous iPhones (6, 7, 8 plus, XS and 12 mini) I had got problems only because they felt off my pockets especially getting into my car, never holding it in hand.

Yep, using a Speck case that keeps both the screen and cameras on my 13 Pro Max recessed, it has come in handy a few times when I’ve dropped it on concrete and tile flooring.
I also put a Tempered Glass screen protector.

I had my 11 PM replaced in May 2022 because of a drop. My only issue was photos. Everything else came across just fine, mainly because most of my accounts are not Apple.

I knew photos would be a hassle before turning the phone in, so I sprung for Apple's 2TB iCloud to make sure all the photos would be restored. They weren't.

So, I had to dig around in all my backups and drop every last dang photo in to the Photos app so they all got back on the phone. Then I had to set the phone to eliminate duplicates. SMH.
This is exactly why I offload my photos onto my pc. I have no need or room for 20,000 photos just to lose them on a device change.

I do but I really wish someone would offer a case thick enough that the entire back would be even with the camera bump.

That's most cases. My Otter Symmetry that I'm currently running on my 11PM does this. The DBrand Grip I'm thinking on getting does it as well.

Yeah, if I had as many as you I'd probably just leave it alone. I have a 512GB device, but searching through 20k photos for the one pic you need when many of them aren't relevant is not my idea of a fun time.

I currently have an Otter Symmetry on my 14 Pro and the camera bump is definitely higher than the rest of the case back. Maybe Otter had a redesign at some point? I will check out the DBrand.

Looking at the website the Symmetry for 14s should look about the same as mine. The camera module is protected and the case is flush with that dimension. Is yours a Fre? That's the only case I can find on their site that has a bump out for the camera module.

No. It's just a phone at the end of the day. It's like getting a brand new car. You're paranoid waiting for that first scratch, that first dink. Once you've got one, all of of a sudden the stress and anxiety is gone. It's no longer in A1, printine condition, so you relax, and all of a sudden, it doesn't really matter anymore. Why? becuae it's just phone. No one is going to die.

I use a minimal pitaka case and a screen protector. Recently have taken the case off a few times to try out different SIM cards (I’m in the uk so physical sim is still a thing) and the space black 14 pro max feels soooo good without a case. The sides are actually really grippy and I am really tempted to leave the case off. Haven’t plucked up the courage yet though!

If you keep the case off just be mentally prepared for dinks and scratches along with paint chips or worse. iPhones are slippery devices as they are made of glass so there will be a high likelihood of an accident within the next couple of years.

I have always opted for a clear case, going back to when I had the 6, then XR, 12 and now the 14. I don't recall if I put a case on my first phone, the 5. I do like to see the color of the phone while still having good protection for it. I also always have a screen protector on. Spigen has typically been my "go-to" case; same for the glass.

Yes, I always use a case, but do not use a screen protector. The case has saved my phone several times from drops. I have never had an issue with the screen getting scratched, but I am careful about not putting it in a pocket with other metal objects.

These screens are so soft I don’t take the risk. I use a good tempered glass protector as it feels no different to the screen underneath and prevents that deep scratch that comes out of nowhere.

No, that wouldn't concern me. The phone already had a few small-ish scrapes and marks on the screen when I bought it, but I can still read what's on the screen so I don't really care.

When I went case less with my 12 pro, it wasn’t so much the placing my phone on a hard surface that garnered scratches as much as it was if for any reason, my phone was slid or moved around the surface in anyway shape or form over time I got all kinds of scratches that showed visible bare metal on the camera rings.

I've always used the LifeProof FRĒ (now OtterBox) on my iPhones.

They keep the device immaculate and protected, without adding too much bulk. I just like keeping my iPhones in perfect condition...always have done.

For me, the camera is one of the least used features, so I've never cared about it getting scratched. I don't intentionally scratch it, but I'm rarely using it to record/take a picture of anything important.
