So remove the dust and lint?Every case scratches a phone eventually if you don't remove dust or other things between the bezels.
My 6s+. which I got in September 2015, has never been in a case. I took it to the genius bar once - in November 2021 for a brand new battery.I'll take the risk of minor scratches over a visit to the Genius Bar.
I wonder how many of you rock the iPhone, or other devices without a case. I myself am someone who does not use a case. This has to do with the fact that those things often leave small scratches on the housing.
The case might not, but any dust or grit between the case and the phone will.A good quality case won’t scratch the phone, personally I go through phases of using a case and not… but I have AppleCare+ so I’m covered no matter what.
Nonsense, do you really think that a piece of dirt takes into account how often you clean your phone? I'm already willing to bet that I clean my phone more than yours. The point is that as soon as dirt gets between the case and the housing, and it has no freedom of movement, it immediately starts to scratch. So remove the dust and lint?
I clean my phones every 2 weeks and never had a scratch on any of them since my first iPhone in 2016. It’s not exactly challenging to keep a phone pristine.
Probably untrue. Like I said, I have never had a scratched phone before and I have had iPhones for 7 years. I used an SE 2016 for 9 months in 2022 which had a cheap gel clear case and it was very rare to see trapped dirt or lint stuck on the sides. The phone is still in pristine “as new” condition. You would have to be very unlucky to have lint or dirt scratch your phone within 2 weeks of cleaning it.Nonsense, do you really think that a piece of dirt takes into account how often you clean your phone? No, what you are describing is probably untrue. Nobody is talking about a time frame of within two weeks that scratches can occur. However, it is categorically untrue that a phone cases cannot cause scratches by itself. That has nothing to do with a wrong user case. It is well known that a case can cause damage. Sounds like user error to me.
I disagree. The probability of such an event occurring within a 2 week timeframe is extremely low. iPhones have a durable paint coat designed to protect against such damage so it is unlikely that a user will accrue as much lint & dirt to cause abrasive damage within such a limited timeframe. No, what you are describing is probably untrue. The only one who makes absolutely no sense is you. You are ignorant and you are also completely wrong with your assumptions. I can already tell you that my pockets are much cleaner than yours. I'm obsessive about that and you have absolutely no idea what you're saying. Your way of thinking that the coating Apple uses would be so "special" from others, only shows that you live in a very small fantasy world. You only have to look on Google search to see how wrong you are.I disagree. Your pockets must be filthy, mine aren’t.
What is your argument anyway?
Nothing you are saying makes any sense. Either you use a case and clean it out to prevent the damage you’ve described, or you can go case-free which means your phone has no protection vs abrasive or drop damage.
Cases cannot cause damage without dirt or lint rubbing against the inside frame & the phone. If you are going to stoop to such a pathetic argument, we are done conversing. Like I said, I have owned a 6S, 2x SE16s, 8, 12 Mini and a 13. Not a single scratch on any unit and I have been using cases religiously.
Do you do that for maximum trade in or sale value?…but the phones are always in perfect physical condition after 4-5 years of use.
It certainly helps us get the highest possible trade in but I know without tough cases we’d have shattered screens. We drop phones multiple times a week in this house.Do you do that for maximum trade in or sale value?
Yes, because decent cases are inexpensive and why scratch up a thousand dollar device? 😊Do you use a case on your iPhone?
That's great, but it won't cover minor scratches or cosmetic damage.AppleCare is my case
If scratches start to bother me, I'll simply smash my phone into the concrete a couple of times to the point that it is damaged beyond repair, and they'll replace itThat's great, but it won't cover minor scratches or cosmetic damage.
If that's OK with you, then I'm good with it.
