If scratches start to bother me, I'll simply smash my phone into the concrete a couple of times to the point that it is damaged beyond repair, and they'll replace it
..................and subsequently jack up the prices of future iPhone purchases for yourself and everyone else!

Hopefully not lol. They would probably amend their AppleCare rules before they did that.

That’s how insurance works. More people claim = more expensive premiums. That’s why I don’t bother with AppleCare+ as I would end up paying for some idiot’s phone who smashed it on purpose.

That idiot is still getting a new/refurb $1500 phone for a $99 deductible as many times as he wants.

If everyone carried out insurance fraud and made false claims, AppleCare+ would be more expensive than it already is. AppleCare+ is already a lot more expensive than my car insurance premium.

Yes, because decent cases are inexpensive and why scratch up a thousand dollar device? 😊
I have a 6s+ that has never seen a case. You will find scratches by now, I do not deny that. But nothing visible. You'll have to use strong light to find any.

I was at the Tower of London on Monday and was stood outside the toilets waiting for my wife and kids on a cobbled road area when a young lad who was sitting on a curb, dropped his purple iPhone 14 Pro from about 300mm. The shortest of drops and on the back of the phone by the lightning port he had shattered the back glass all the way up the length of the phone. He was then wiping it frantically with his fingers in disbelief hoping to wipe away the cracks and looking at his Dad who looked like he wanted to kill him lol. I was secretly smug with the reaffirmation that this is the reason I put a case on my phone and don’t risk stuff like that. I haven’t got the time to be getting a phone replaced every week and it would be a pointless waste of money topping up the excess premiums.
I dropped my 11 Pro Max in May 2022. Used my 6s+ for a week while waiting for the replacement. Both phones have never been in a case.

When I dropped the 11PM I shattered the back and the impact cracked the screen from inside.

I am still not using a case. This drop was only the second time I've needed to replace a phone from a drop. The last one was the iPhone 6+ in late 2015.

So, neither you nor I have the time to be getting a phone replaced every week - but I don't drop my phone and need a replacement every week either.

I definitely use a case (Apple leather) for my 13PM. It's a great looking phone without a case, but it's like trying to hold on to a wet bar of soap.

No, I don't use a case. I absolutely love the color and the look of my iPhone and don't want to ruin it by putting it inside a case... also I take good enough care to not scratch/destroy it and even IF it would happen there'd always bei AppleCare+.

No case, but modern tempered glass screen protector. Must admit though, I will use the Apple silicon now and again when doing some more risky activities, but taking it off as soon as I can.

If it’s not me dropping my phone it’s my kids so not taking that risk. I prefer the feel of the phone in a case anyway so it’s not like I’m putting myself out.

Yeah, our kids learned not to touch our stuff when they were young. We also provided older devices and other things so it didn't entice them so much. My son had an iBook G4 when he was five and both my kids used to play with an iPhone 3GS.

Turnabout is fair play though. One is a sophomore in college now and the other a freshman in highschool. We don't touch their stuff unless we have their permission. That said, my daughter who hates cases, had a case forced upon her when I got her an SE 2020. She had taken a perfectly good 6s and destroyed it. I'm still paying for the SE 2020 so she has to deal with the case.

My son, OTOH, had always been good with his phones. His SE 2020 and his older SE 2016 are still in very good condition.

I’m not strict with my devices and there are times when I have to give my iPhone to one of my daughters to quite them quiet. Ours also have older iPhones (iPhone 8) but we bought them new iPads as that’s what they use the most. My job is mostly office based but I am often at testing houses with new product tests where my phone is used to take pictures and being put down on concrete floor’s frequently. These iPhones are so slippery and horrible to handle, I would be dropping it even more than I do now.

When my daughter was first learning to walk we used to play a 'game' on the weekends. I had my phone in one spot in the living room and she would work her way towards my phone. When she got close, I'd tell her 'That's mine, don't be touching it.'

Of course, she wouldn't listen - so when she started to make a grab for it, I picked her up and walked her over to the far side of the room and set her down. At that point I knew I had about five to six minutes before she was after my phone again.

But both my kids had computers long before they ever had phones. My son was in seventh grade when he got his first phone. I believe that was 2015. We got him an iPhone 4s 8GB with a 2GB data line. And that was only because at that time we needed a way to get a hold of him (and his sister who attended the same school).

I have handed my kids my phone once or twice, but most of the time they had their own stuff.

I work from home, and before that it's been office jobs for the last 20+ years. So I can afford to say "I don't use cases" because my job isn't physical and the environment isn't potentially hazardous to the phone. Same with my lifestyle.

But if I had a physical job, or one such as yours, I would be using a case - at least during work.

Today started putting Midnight Leather, then switched to Product Red Silicon after lunch. Before dinner went back caseless, as in the last weeks: after some days without case, it’s difficult to go back.

I use a case because I prefer the feel of leather to the glass/steel. It’s just warmer.

I also have been dropping my phone more as of late so I’m grateful it’s still in pristine condition. Wouldn’t be the case without the case. 😁

I don't use a case. The screen gets scratched even when I have a case on, and the back of the iPhone is really tough. Enjoy the design apple worked on.
That’s because you have to apply a screen protector also.

Screen protectors bother me a lot
Your post doesn't make sense.

How can a case alone prevent scratches on the screen without the use of a screen protector? It's similar to wearing body armour and no helmet while cycling, then getting a head injury after a crash and wondering why.

I use an "eyepatch" privacy case (slider covers the cameras) for my iPhone6s running 14.8.
Still rocking!

my new red iPhone SE 2022 dos not leave the house unless it has a case on it in fact i this got me a outer box case for it today

The flat sided iPhones are horrible in hand so ever since the 12 I’ve used Apple leather cases.

Before then I used to use Apple leather cases for the first month then go without, back when the 4-5S were current they were so small I didn’t need to worry about how it felt in hand so never used a case at all.
