Our furnace is out, and the temperature in the house is now 56 degrees (3 degrees outside).

I've got my Intel MacBook sitting on my lap, trying to run something to get it toasty... a Windows VM should do the trick!

Sounds like you're in New England.

Hope you get your furnace fixed soon. It's brutal today.

We have a NG Stove and can use that. I'm in an unheated basement with two Intel chips and an M1 chip running. I'm tempted to turn on my little space heater today. I am considering bringing up my 2014 iMac to use in the living room if my fingers get numb.

Actually i miss my heater (Dell xps 15z on a toasty Intel). We had incredible moments together through college. I would fly 10 hours to the university, and at the 10KM altitude it got really cold in the tail side of the plane. I turned on my GrandTheftAuto and closed the lid(turned off auto sleep when lid is closed). Put that working heater in my backpack and then put my toes in it and immediately fell a sleep. Backpack was warming me up to knee and I was having fun.

After the flight i have arrived to my home. Unluckily, the heater in the house was all municipal and central. Our central authority was going to give us a heat to our houses only in 10 days to the mid Fall.
I was freezing 2 nights and said screw it - got my laptop, opened GrandTheftAuto and closed the lid. Put it against my chest - when i was warm enough, i kicked it to the toes and slept better than ever in a warm bed. Battery died in 4 hours, but it was enough to get me until morning. Bed could be dusty(lints) and clog the air vents, but I had this laptop for 2-3 years, so couldn't care less about this as i was already cleaning it up every 2 years.

Overall I could definitely say that i miss toasty Intels.

This post gave me a good laugh. I can't say that I miss my 2019 i9 Intel at all, even if it did a decent job of heating whatever it sat on.
