No it is not. It's a flagship price

Honestly, that's BS. Midrange price is still in the $200-$500 range. anything over that is essentially flagship price.

Samsung and Apple are in the primo place where they can essentially exploit their customers to the tune of $1000 flagships.

No, that's still today.

The flagship Pixel is $799

a $750 XR is a flagship price. Period.

You're wrong, though. Outside of Samsung and Apple, the flagship price is still pretty much set right in the middle of where iPhone XR is. It's part of the reason iPhone XR is selling so well; people still only think $750 is flagship price.

I could not agree anymore with these comments!
Apples marketing sucked people right in.. and it’s only your own opinion that concludes the XR price is ‘mid range’, when the FACT is it is a premium price.
Plus the argument of a Samsung phone price is flawed because they always drop in price. The only reason the iPhone price drops is when Apple does it because it’s sales are so poor, because of the inflated price.

The majority of people outside this site would consider £750 to be ‘premium’.

I think he just confirmed your point! The 3A has a better camera, better screen, the latest Android OS at a lower price than the older iPhones he mentioned.

True, but the XR will have updates for longer, better support, and is better quality with better speakers and is better with video capture.
Thing with the iPhones is they are the king of video more or less, the Pixel is the king of low light stills. I think on normal stills it’s personal taste.
I prefer iOS but Apples pricing is ludicrous, I consider my XR a premium device.

The challenge for an iPhone 6 owner such as myself, is that there’s no compelling iPhone model to upgrade to.

Apple’s mid-range offerings are the iPhone 7 and 8. While capable, they still retain the same somewhat tired design of the 6. Newer home button-free and ‘edge-to-edge’ designs are relegated to premium X-models.

Why not create a truly mid-priced ‘XE’ (e for economical) model. It could have the same 4.7” display as the 6,7,8, but with an edge-to-edge screen?

It depends on what you want. I went from a 6s to the max. To me that was a great upgrade. My wife went with an xr (well she was forced as the 7 died), and in retrospect loves the phone. As in everything YMMV.

There is rumor of an "iphone xe"

https://pc-tablet.com/an-apple-iphone-xe-is-in-the-making-for-q3-2019/

but I havent seen any discussion of this on the forums.

They just need to get rid of their advertising business and quit their anti-competitive business practices and I might begin to trust them.
I am sure earning your trust is number 1 on Pichai's priorities list.

I'm not going to put too much stock into that article. While I'd love to see a new, smaller iPhone released this article states that: "It is supposed that Apple will discontinue the iPhone XR this year because of the poor performance in the market."

The XR is Apple's best selling iPhone. It's not getting dropped.
