All Pics have the following settings in common :

- Max Brightness
- TT OFF ( where applicable )
- Night Shift OFF
- Auto Brightness OFF
- Pics taken with Galaxy S8+

First off, Air 2 : Perfect (to me, and a few others I have shown it to) milky whites, blues, etc. A bit on the cooler side, but with Night Shift on, just right!

So, I'm curious to see which screen ( between the DMPT and DLX ) would be your pick ? I threw in the Air 2 pics for comparison too!

Why no TT?

It just makes everything more warm than it already is..

Maybe I’ll do another group with it on..

I agree. Using it is when I notice the yellow tint. I noticed you're in CO. Where are you doing all you swapping etc?

Yeah, I live near Parker. I got the iPad from Aspen Gove store but might return for the 512 model and hope to get a better screen from Park Meadows mall Apple Store.

Awesome!!.. I remember being at Aspen Grove picking up the 7+ at launch.

I was considering the 512 too, but couldn't justify it (esp with LTE) and either way I'd have to pick n choose with anything less than 2 TB onboard storage, so might as well settle for 256!

I camped out in front of the store for the iPhone 4. Never did that again.

I have LTE with my work iPad and it has come in handy at times. I figured I didn't need it for my personal iPad since I have the 10GB hotspot on my phone. Which are you finding is the best screen with an in person review?

I used to be sick like op and similars looking for a defect instantly after taking off the plastic. It's nice on the other side just enjoying the device

I agree bit I think its worth it up to a point when tou can easily spot screen issues like some. Really really annoys the crap out when you are not minimally satisfied with the screen. I mean, it is basically 99% of how we interact with the device.

Oh, I’d never camp out.. Just lucked out with a reservation online!

As for the screen, I’m can’t pick one without thinking about the other!

I’m looking for some suggestions here that might help with the decision perhaps :)

Looking at the side by side, the iPad on the left, was the home button on the left? And the iPad on the right, was the button on the right?

The Home button, in all the pics, is on the right for both!

Great point, I should’ve mentioned that.

On both iPads, it looks like opposite sides have the yellow or dark area. My iPad is a DPM and looks like the one on the right. This might be something we can't avoid. Saying that, I only really notice it with the keyboard up. I'm curious if this is just uneven TT with the display, not really a screen defect.

iPad Pro number 2 just arrived. Serial number also DM. Not as obvious as the first one but the band is still there :(

Get rid, keep, or give up?

This is your money you're spending. Are you satisfied? If not, then you have options. Side note, this is why I wait to make purchases with new tech that's just released. I allow for manufacturing to slow down and purchase when later on to avoid hardware issues. Just my preference.

iPad number 3 incoming next Monday...

ok so is this really a problem ? all i see is just a warm hue (off white ) only when true tone is on otherwise the screen is as bright as expected

These pictures are silly. All IPS LCDs lose brightness as the viewing angle changes from a straight-on view. Most camera lenses have vignetting. If you want to accurately caputure backlight unevenness, take the picture from several feet away, and have the iPad screen cover only about a quarter of the image length.

Lol. Being not happy to cough up a good amount of $$$ out of pocket (what I estimate to be the same amount even a little more than that I paid for my Pro 9.7 last year) for a screen not as bright or uniform or good at portraying colors when comparing with the previous gen side by side still in my possession, when there are in fact documented good screens that aren't this way For this new product, makes me 'sick'

Got it

The fact that there's 8 pages of this, and not unanimous polling, means its a problem to some people not just me.

And I too wonder if 12.9 suffers from this or is more uniform in general as a crap shoot.

On extremely close examination, the bottom left area (home button at bottom) is slightly more yellow/warm than the rest of the screen. It's most noticeable if I lay my arm diagonally across the screen and rapidly compare the bottom left with top right. It's pretty minor and the rest of the device is perfect so I'll probably keep it. I also plan on getting Apple care so if it ever bothers me I'll just swap it out. I'll try get a pic up.

I am definitely finding the screens to be over-hyped. I've never had this issue (though it's quite minor) on any other device and I've owned a wide variety of Android products before this. $1000 tablet I expect it to at least get QC'd before leaving the factory but I guess not.

I suspect that this is strictly a 10.5 problem. I believe it’s possible there’s a problem at the source of the screen manufacturer with it being a new device. The 12.9 required a few tweaks to get it to the 120Hz, but ultimately still the same screen as last generation. Obviously this is a theory, so it’s as solid as Swiss cheese.
