Unfortunately I think you’re half right. Samsung are used to producing their current top end OLED screens only in their top end S* and Note screens. The kind of volumes that Apple will need will dwarf that.

Good point. Apple depending on Samsung is a bit hilarious considering how just a short while back everyone was raving about burn in and how LCD was the best. I like LCD and OLED personally. Both have their pluses and minuses.

Haha, it's under the iPhone section on a Appe website. And I am in the alternative section? Talk about laughable. Anyway, I have no issue with Android based hardware as it is pretty impressive, but I just don't see anyone that prefers iOS/interested in the X would make the switch to the S9 when all it is is a knockoff X running an OS that users that want the X don't prefer. Lastly, I don't assert my opinion as fact, it is simply my opinion.
That's pretty awesome that you've seen the final design of the Galaxy S9 and can give your honest opinion on that and not a rumor some random person on the internet stated.

They certainly do. The problem is that Samsung, LG and others know how to make a great LCD. Only Samsung know how to make the top end OLEDs and they are not used to shifting the high end volume that Apple is. I doubt they can step up.

“Wait on an imaginary thing. It might be better, despite a track record of being slower, jankier and not updated regularly, for the last decade. It’s a sure thing”

You mean a track record of influencing the entire market, including Apple.

Is it really worth talking about the S9 this early? It's normal release window is like March/April. Many months to go tbh. I would rather buy the S8 at a huge steep discount than the S9 at full retail price at launch, just saying.

Well lots of rumors swirling that Samsung is adjusting their launch cycles and releasing the S9 in late January.

No, but chances are most people will be able to get their hands on an S9 by the time they would be able to get an iPhone 10.

And yet the S8 and Plus have been getting regular updates and even the S6 has the August security.

Yeah. No.

Ah, so everyone saying that it's in short supply is a lie and it won't get pushed back 2-5 months?

When will they get the Oreo, which is already released? Every iPhone within 4-5 years old would have the last version available. When will the S6, the S7, the S8 and the Note get it? Please be precise for all owners of these devices. Thanks.

Who is “everyone”. That’s important before we determine of they’re lying.

F. Must do better.

Who knows? But then again, Android is designed in a way where larger and larger portions of it are being updates outside of OS updates anyway. The S5 will continue to get the GPS updates for years.

Ming Chi Kuo is reporting that they're only able to produce 10k a day. That's 1/54 of the 6 (which faced shortages) for a comparison.

Unfortunately for those that bought them. No-one.

So there’s no value to Android updates any more? What are Google doing then? What was in in Nougat and Oreo?

Samsung has been the biggest display and TV manufacturer for awhile now. I'm sure they can handle high end display volumes.

What Samsung influenced on Apple ......
large displays
OLED displays
smaller bezels
Face biometrics
Split screen/Multi-window
Stylus
S-Health
Wireless charging
Switching Keyboard from left to right for one handed use
Game Center features
Water resistance
Wireless Earbuds
LTE Smartwatch

And I could go on and on.

I not saying Samsung nor Apple invented or was first at anything ..... but everything listed above and more is what Apple was influenced by Samsung to implement.

Even a die hard Apple Sheep recognizes that.

That's a sad but very realistic outlook.

As for the poster who said the S9 might come out in January, do you think this will help move people to Samsung? I mean it would eat into the sales of the Note 8 unless the S9 is priced way lower. Then it might appeal to the group who looks at the current flagship prices and cringe.

I do wonder how they'll price it. That would definitely dictate what market they are trying to get and if it will cannibalize the Note 8 or help Samsung sales.

Ah ha ha! Do you seriously think TV displays are even close to what Samsung are putting in the S8 or Note 8, or subsequently the iPhone 8/10? You best read up.

As for larger displays, smaller bezels, stylus, Wireless charging and so on. All done by others LONG before Samsung. Samsung, the ultimate copyist.

For Samsung owers? Not a lot, really.

They've released other phones early and they didn't explode. Amazing.

Samsung will meet Apple's quota, that's not even a question. What makes you think otherwise?

Apple didn't do it first either. Oh wait, by your logic, that's perfectly okay. It's just bad when Samsung didn't do it first.:eek::eek::eek::eek:

We can agree there. Not much value in updates for Samsung owners because in 6 months they'll have forgotten about the S8 and Note 8 and all be stuck with whatever Google can trickle out on their 4 competing but incomplete messaging apps on Google Play :)

Nope. It's just bad when you claim that Samsung did it first and Apple copied them. It's a blatant lie.

IMO, if the rumor is true. Samsung could just be adjusting their release dates between the two flagship lines. If the S9 is released late Jan/ early Feb, then maybe the Note 9 will be pushed up as well.

Or it could be a one off early release, if they are super confident about the S9 for specific reasons.

No. The S6 is on Nougat. They don't drop their flagship in 6 months. But features like PiP for phones is something Samsung has had for years. Same with split screen multitasking on phones.

I never said Samsung invented anything. You have any idea what influence means? And you purposely cut out what I stated right after that.

Okay I'm done, I had my little fun. Good luck defending Apple's honor to the death.

No, you were more subtle. You said, in massive text for some reason, “What Samsung influenced on Apple” which, disastrous grammar aside, was a massive reach. Literally not one of those things was done by Samsung first. Where’s the giant “What LG/Kodak/iOS Jailbreak Influenced Samsung(sic)”? Hmm?

“Good luck defending Apple’s honor to the death”

Yeah, thanks, Samsung Defence Force guy
