And the funny thing is, I had several girls asking me questions about the Ultra 2 I was wearing. Seems a $700 Apple Watch impresses people already.

Besides, $500 replica’s almost look identical as the real $20.000 watch. Only experts with magnification glasses can tell the difference, so you are buying expensive watches for only a very small group of people who can tell you are wearing a $20.000 watch.

I'm not like you; I don't wear things to impress people. But yeah, you should stick to knockoffs for most everything. I think you could have saved by getting a fake Ultra.

Unfortunately, most nefarious people know exactly what this so it has not seen daylight in years!

There’s a quote that say that “only fake people wear fake watches”. Despite that, buying fake watches is a crime.

I *was* a mechanical watch obsessive - couldn't imagine wearing a smartwatch.

Then one month ago I had a blood pressure test and my numbers were 170/115.

Time to get my s*** together. Time to get fit if I want to avoid a lifetime of blood pressure meds.

Immediately bought an AWU - the only Apple Watch which looks like a properly opinionated piece of design.

Since then I haven't worn a mechanical watch once - and I've lost around half a stone in weight.

Probably sell my Explorer. Only keeping my Nomos Orion cos it's a wedding anniversary gift and my Speedmaster cos my son lusts after it. 18th birthday gift maybe.

As for double-wristing? Nah, it looks silly. You need to be Jack Forster to pull that off. I am not Jack Forster.

I am in the same boat as you. I have been into watches since 2012ish and have gone through the standard Rolex, Omega, Panera, IWC, etc... watches. Right now the only mechanical I have is the Rolex Explorer 124270. I got an apple watch a little over a week ago, and I have only worn the that since. I put on my Explorer just for fun, and then swapped it back to the Apple watch. I am sure eventually I will go back, but for now, the Apple watch is just so handy.

Plus its kind of nice to not have $$$$ on your wrist all the time. I got Apple Care for my watch, so I wear it with zero worries about banging it up, its an appliance for me like my phone is.

Don’t sell it, you may regret.

I think it looks silly and it is silly. But each to their own. People can do that they want. If someone wants to wear two watches go nuts, but personally I think it's absurd. Only expressing my opinion because you asked :)
I agree. Mechanical watches in this day and age are truly anachronistic. A cheap £10 Casio will actually be more accurate as a timepiece. Mechanical watches are little more than jewellery, and are popular with some men because they are an acceptable form of male jewellery. If you really need a status symbol, then your choice, but don't expect others to care much.
A real watch is something special, something personal, a small object of desire a person can become attached to. Sentimental value of an Apple Watch? Zero.
But that's purely subjective. I love old mechanical things, but a watch isn't something I'm bothered about in that regard. With old things, I appreciate them if they work well. Say, an old woodworking plane, or an old Singer sewing machine. Things that haven't been bettered in terms of their quality of function. Mechanical watches are almost always inferior in function to modern electronic versions. They just aren't as accurate as modern watches. As for 'value'; myApple watch helps me keep track of my health and fitness. And that, to me, is far, far more important than some expensive bauble.

I don't want to look like a Douche. I did it when traveling to Iceland because I wore my Daytona and Ultra and we left our luggage in the car while checking out attractions so I wore them both. I had long sleeve and jacket on so no one noticed. Still felt awkward and should have left the Daytona at home as the Ultra was far more useful. I only brought the Daytona because we went to Zurich after.

There was a time I liked a nice, but basic mechanical watch as an accessory. I had worn a watch since I was a child, but when I started developing wrist pain, I stopped wearing watches entirely. I found I preferred to not have anything on my wrist. I generally don't like wearing jewelry or any complicated clothing. I just find it uncomfortable.

I beat my wrist pain and eventually started wearing a watch again. It's a Fitbit Sense right now. I find smartwatches to be generally more comfortable than mechanical watches, but if I didn't need it for the sleep tracking, I probably wouldn't be wearing it either.

I completely stopped wearing my old watch when I got an AW. It surprised me, but sporting the nice old watch meant giving up AW functionality. And as for the alternative of strapping on BOTH in my bleary-eyed morning? Well, I'm just too lazy for that.

Watches are like hats: One hat and you're covered!
Same, I ditched that old knockoff Casio I wore back in the day when I got my first Apple Watch Series 1. Now I am happy with my SS S6.

I’ve been missing my mechanical watches. I’ve got some nice chunky divers. I even bought an ankle strap for the AW, but haven’t tried it yet. I’ve just received a Tudor Black Bay Harrods edition, and there’s no way I’m not wearing it, so it’s either double up, ankle, or the AW only at the gym.

Beautiful watch. My grail is a Black Bay 58 at some point.

I bought a biceps band and wear my AW on my upper biceps when I want to wear my mechanical watches.

I love my AW, to me it’s a marvel. When I was a kid the best we could do was an AM transistor radio you could wear in your wrist, or the original red led digital watches. I know it’s an anachronism, but the simplicity of a nice mechanical watch still draws me in; whether anyone can tell what it is or not.

I always have my mechanical watch on my left wrist and the AW on my right wrist. I only use AW for alerts and health data. I don't use it as a time piece.
