imagine Samsung came up with a phone with this notch... People here at the forums would take the complete piss out of it (yeah come on, you iPhone X ''fan'' know this ;) ), but hey..its Apple, so then all of the sudden the notch is okay :D

You are so right. If Samsung had a notch, or the upcoming Pixel 2 had this notch.... this design would probably be so widely accepted.

Whoops misinterpreted in the other direction.. I guess this means I might not be a Samsung pisser.

I am not doubting the notch. Its still there everytime I look and its still just as ugly now as when I first saw it. For multiple reasons its a poor design choice imo. Good news is I have no desire to buy the iphone x so that leaves more for those of you that want to purchase. At any rate I sincerely hope you all enjoy your new phones.

It really doesn't bother me.

Yeah it doesn’t bother me either. At first I was like notch? What is this notch ppl are making a big deal of? And when I figured out what they meant. I literally LOL. I couldn’t believe ppl were making a big deal of this. Doesn’t bother me regardless of how the device is oriented.

Wait, what?? The iPhone X is smaller than the 8 plus.
Yes otherwise why would it be attractive. Considering the screen is 5.8 inches in actual dimensions, it makes sense for apple to make a bigger screen with a smaller body to make some people happy.

Because for me even my 7 Plus is relatively big... I'm starting to feel it already :( this will be a welcomed addition.

As for the notch, not bothered to be honest. I mean look at the huge bezels. Those are more painful compared to this. At least they worked around it which I'm happy. Not the cleanest but I adjust and adapt very quickly.

I noticed in all of the pictures the OP presents, each one was the notch against a white background. I feel this was done intentionally to highlight and emphasize an opinion towards one side. i.e. lead you to a specific outcome.

Hopefully people are smart and educated enough to see through this facade and judge on an equal basis of all backgrounds provided by each application individually, and not be lead by the nose.

I'm trying to provide objective images, but in the simulator mode in Xcode there is no way to install apps so I'm limited to the Apple apps. I'm wondering how other Apps will interact with the notch, I'll try if there really is no other way to get non-Apple apps on the simulator.

Awesome! I think I do like it on the right way better. We all read from left to right, this actually feels like edge to edge at first glance. Thanks for this, helps with the decision to yay or nay the X.

Edited Original Post once more with coloured background. Let me know what you think.
This may open up an interesting discussion. One of the apps literally has text behind the notch, will this be an unusable phone for a while?

I know. I was saying the OP’s pics are off, because the X should be smaller than the 8 plus.
