I'm more interested in what's behind the notch. After the initial rush is over and I read what, if any, problems the X has I might get one.
The comment you quoted me on was me stating facts, nothing more. The notch draws your attention, that’s an objective truth. It’s an unfortunate reality, like the embarrassment that is Apple software design now. You're funny. I remember all your pre-keynote posts where you mocked, in that uber-opinionated fashion of yours, folks who believed Apple would embrace the notch. You just need to let it go, man. The notch is distinctive, iconic and honest. Sir Jony was right and you were wrong. It happens. Just embrace the notch and you'll feel much better.

Agreed. I think most people will opt to watch video with bars that will black out the notch. However, that makes the viewable area considerably smaller which is still a bit of a downside. Personally, I wouldn't mind the notch much on a short youtube video but it's a no-go on a TV show. I do watch TV while waiting for the subway at times or on a break.
When browsing the web or in apps, I think the notch is a non-issue and people are making a big deal out of nothing. Also, over time content providers will get creative with it and figure out ways to tastefully integrate it or black out the top portion of the screen.

I'm interested once Ifixit does a tear down of the iPhone X and shows how much technology is incorporated into that notch. I know many don't like it, but it's fairly incredible to see the sensors and technology that is involved in that notch.
Hey all,
I have been following the forum the past few days and a lot of threads came up about the notch. Not a single thread had clear photos/mock-ups showing how the notch will look. So this got me thinking and I realised there was an option in Xcode where you could simulate iDevices. I immediately downloaded the newest Xcode version and started the 'simulation' mode (btw this is a real recommendation if you're not sure about the notch).
Seeing it 'live' for the first time made me feel at ease. It looked so much better than I had imagined of off Apple's site and video/photos from bloggers with bad angles, cus you know, no one can make decent videos nowadays, it all has to be quick and flashy, anyway I digress.
Time for pictures!
I am still using my iPhone 5s I bought when it came out and comparing it to the X is mind-blowing. The X is so much larger! (There is a setting in the simulation called 'actual size' which I tested with my iPhone 5s and it was exactly the same size on my screen as it was in my hand - note this will vary because I made screenshots, you'll have to fire up Xcode yourself for a real comparison).
// EDIT made some mistakes with regards to scaling (apparently 'actual size' doesn't work yet for iPhone X in Xcode simulation) + added landscape photos

One image I would like to see is the affect on games the notch will have. I fully hope developers take advantage and put things like stats there but out of the box its probably not going to be pretty.
I noticed my epic fail and edited the original post accordingly, please check again and share your thoughts

That's what I'm going to do. These pics made me optimistic tho, but will still definitely check the X out at an Apple store before throwing my money at it
I noticed in all of the pictures the OP presents, each one was the notch against a white background. I feel this was done intentionally to highlight and emphasize an opinion towards one side. i.e. lead you to a specific outcome.
Hopefully people are smart and educated enough to see through this facade and judge on an equal basis of all backgrounds provided by each application individually, and not be lead by the nose.
