Hey, the vmmhidtool from ms store likely has sandboxing enabled. Did you try to run it as admin? I did the whole process from a windows laptop. And I downloaded the firmware packages from the 1st post directly from the Steps section. It has the flash tool already, you don't need the MS Store one.
I think this is the first Dock/Hub with LAN and native USB-A Adapters where can be flashed do work with 4k@120hz 4:4:4. This is an VMM7100 or VMM6100 ?

I got the Cablecreation USB-C hub working but it keeps annoying when I close the lid and suddenly no signal on my 42C2 LG oled tv
Is there any way to fix this?? Or should I get device with VMM7100
It happens on both USB-C hub and cable matters USB-C to HDMI adapter
Also, I need to unplug multiple times to even 4k 120hz work on my tv with MacBook Pro lid open
I use config protection and EDID auto upload on my better display 2.0.8 version with pro license+MacOS Sonoma latest beta available

I have a similar problem as well where I don't get the signal output when I turn off the TV (after the macbook is locked) and come back sometime later and turn on the TV. It does not matter if the mac is sleeping or not. When i press some keys to get the lock screen, I simply get no output on the TV.

It's fixed by replugging the usb hub cable into the mac. It's annoying but it doesn't happen often.

Have got this working with the Cable Matters VMM7100 adapter attached to a M1 Air, linked to LG C1. Flashed through Parallels very easily, thanks for the instructions! Pleasantly surprised that it continues to work at 4k120hz when connected to the WD D50 TB3 dock too. Massive thanks to everyone that worked on this!

I flashed my 7100 module firmware, but still can't get 5120x1440 to show up. Anybody have a clue what I am doing wrong?

Unfortunately, I can't test your configuration. Maybe there is someone else here who can do that. But as far as I know, that should be possible.

Unfortunately they shipped me the old 201388(GRY)/VMM6100 model, and it doesn't flash using Windows 11 through Parallels on Mac.

Is there any way to flash the VMM6100 without having a Windows PC with USB C Display Port alt? Maybe using VirtualBox/VMWare?

Is there anything else I need to do? I’m running the cable matter hdmi 2.1 to usb c cable and flashed it correctly.

The VMM7100 is Plug&Play, after Firmware flash there is no Software needed.
It seems firmware flash is not the core issue but EDID is
i've tried multiple EDID files up on this thread and none of them work stable with my LG 42C2
Hope there's a way to use the function stably, i need to plug/unplug multiple times and even restart betterdisplay :(

Both works well with LG 42C2, I have 2 of them. But I finally use the VMM7100 because it always works without external Software. U can try wo ask @stevemr123 (BetterDisplay) for Help. U have to use latest MacOS.

I can’t get the flashed VMM1700 module to work on my G9 OLED. I’ve tried everything but nope.
U can try contact CM Support. U have to work with them and give them detailed logs etc to get a solution. If u finally get a firmware that works, plz post this here. Thanks!

Thank you so much for this thread, finally there is hope getting 120hz from my Macbook Air M2 to the LG C1 :D Just a question regarding the how-to before I start. under 3.1: does "(only VMM7100)" mean that VMM6100 cannot be flashed using Parallels?

thanks in advance.

Yes it looks like the VMM6100 can not be flashed on Parallels. But u can test and report.

Thanks for your reply, I see! But is it possible to use Parallels to check which version (VMM6100 or VMM7100) I have? Or would that also be possible with another tool?

Please read the OP (first post) there are all information u need.

The VMMHIDTool always show u which version u use.

Oh sorry, I have read over it, you are referring to the picture with the two adapters in the OP. Thank you very much!

I would love to get a hub with VMM7100 too but I really can't justify spending another 6k INR for a hub.
Yeah, but using an VMM7100 on an TB4 Dock is the best solution. Dont forget, 4k@120hz 4:4:4 use a lot of Bandwidth.
