Dragon Age:Origins announced for Mac!

I'm playing it on a MBP using the 9600M GT, its very laggy, but someone said this was an issue with the mac version in general.

Does anyone know if its possible for a patch to be released that would improve performance, say up to the same level as the windows version?

the performance seems ridiculous right now, on Game Tree it said that the game was optimised for the MBP, yet there is still some lag on lowest settings in lowest resolution, and thats with no other applications open.

is this just affecting the MBP? Or is it a problem with the game in general.

i've only got a MBP so i don't really know how its going on other macs, but someone did say that there is a noticeable stutter on their machine

Once I hit Ostagar (iMac) it got pretty choppy and I had to drop video settings down to Medium. I haven't tried dropping the resolution much, mainly cause it looked "blurry" when I tried.
 
I am considering just getting a student copy of W7 and getting the Windows version, it seems to make the DLC alot easier plus I will get to fiddle with the toolkit.
 
I'm running it on a unibody MBP and it runs great for me.

I'm just wondering if anyones learned of a way to enable the cheat console yet?

I can move my saved games to bootcamp and modify them there but it'd be much easier if i could just find a way to enable the consle in the mac verison.

is your DAO MAc version?how was the graphic preformance?

yeah its the Transgaming mac version, it runs fine on high but with AA turned off.

And thats using the 9600 card in the unibody MBP with 4 gigs of ram. It's high quality enough for me since i'm not super picky about graphics, I just love the convience of not having to boot into windows to play

thats so strange, what CPU do you have?
Im running it on an early 2009 unibody MBP, 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, using the 9600 card at native resolution (1440 x 900) and its unplayable on high quality.
ive got over 150GB of free space as well so its not like the computers clamped up. im running snow leopard also.

i wonder what would be the problem with mine if it runs perfectly for you?

Why would you want to cheat at this game? o_O You're only cheating yourself. :eek:
 
When i saw that post by the person that said they could run the game perfectly on their MBP, i started wondering what could be wrong with mine. i hadn't restarted it since downloading and installing Dragon age. so i did, after, i started the game and put the settings on high and it ran smoothly... for a little while. after running around ostagar for 10 minutes it began to get laggy again and i was back where i started.

it seems as if the MBP is getting clogged up, i dont know why this would happen but it seems to be bringing the fps right down.

i thought it could be just ostagar so i exited the game restarted the computer and started a new game, same thing happened ran well for a few minutes then slowed right down.

Do you mind to upload some of the print screen? it would be helpful for those deciding to buy mac version DAO

Turn the graphics and textures to low?

I will when I get back from work. I'm using a MBP (9400m) so I'll doubt I'll be able to set the video settings to high with AA on unless some people can get it running smoothly with a 9400m.

What video settings are you using?

it doesnt' matter, i can run the game on highest settings with hardly any noticeable lag for five minutes or so and it starts to slow down, or i can put it on lowest graphics and resolution and it will take a little longer to slow down and start lagging (although slightly less choppy than with the high settings). no matter what it seems to be slowing down after time.

It might be the MBP heating up that's causing the slow down?
