It's more like "if" than "when".

I'M so looking forward too. There's 67DF in macOS so it's likely Apple will release a Mac with Polaris 10 GPU.

Maybe.
There were (and is) a bunch of DIDs in OS X (now macOS) of GPUs that Apple never put in any Mac.
Like Cypress and Barts Pro, Cayman or Cape Verde for example.
Ok so a quick update.
I got my cMP 2009 with a GT120
- hack to 5.1 - success
- boot on the LG 31MU97 - surprisingly a success (3840x2160@24hz, but still cool)
Then I started by disabling SIP and after a reboot installed the RX 480 (the non reference version they sent me by mistake instead of the reference)
To power it, I decided to go (for now) with an unbeliavably ugly solution (see pics) just to try the graphic card before getting cables for properly power it internally.
But after I put the card in the computer, I simply can't display anything.
Black, zero, nada.
If i put ALSO the old gt120 together with the new, the mac boots, and from System Report I can see the mac simply does not see the RX 480
What can I do?
(beside returning the card)
Am I doing something wrong?
Are you sure the external PSU is supplying power to the card. From memory, you may need a paper clip trick to make it work.
Everything smooth after the paper clip trick!
could people post a picture of their dual gpu setup thouh?
in mine it just seems pcie slot 2 is not an option?
There are slots 3 and 4, but they are x4 lanes, so I think the full potenzial of the GPU would not be used?
Does anyone experiencing graphic driver disabled even you followed all the process? I've been using it without any issues with RX 480 but it suddenly not working properly today.
Reference cooler would fit fine. The design of your RX 480 may push the fan blades too close to the back of the GPU in Slot 2. If you want to use Slot 4, the hard drive bays #2-4 need to be empty and use a needle nose plier to straighten up the PCIe slot holder bracket.

Did you install macOS update recently?
It worked properly for a while but today, it just not working.

My Macbook was about to update to Sierra beta4 today, maybe your mac pro has done it automatically?
Run Kext Utility to repair permissions then restart.ummm Im using 10.12.1 version tho...
and how about the x4 lanes thingy of slot 3 and 4 vs the x16 lanes of slot 2? :/

I did but it's not working at all.

Repairing permission won't gonna work. My rx 480 worked till today. I have no idea why...
Did you try to put it in slot 2? Just in case slot 1 is damaged.
Unless the RX480 still works fine in Windows. It's still unable to identify as software issue.
Yeah any 480 setup I have will be black screen if I have SIP enabled, so I either have to use a 5770 or 390x to disable sip.Anybody had issues with SIP being enabled?
I enabled by accident and my RX480 would not show anything, unless I was in recovery mode

Oh?Isn't the 480 can work in recovery partition regardless if SIP is enabled or not?
