I'm still using Dyrri on a daily basis and this never happened when I used DayOne. The reason for the sustained diary keeping is down to Apple Pencil on iPad Pro 10.5. So all is good, however, writing in longhand entails using 'Sketch' mode and so after saving an entry the app acknowledges one post but '0' words. OK, no big issue but I do look forward to being able to write, edit, append, erase and correct. Subscription equals development, so I live in hope. Meanwhile diarying is sustained and that's what matters.

macOS provides framework. Apps need to support it I think. Because while other apps have the said goodness, no auto text capitalisation and auto correct working in Dyrii. This means that this needs to be enabled developer side. :)

So I'm happily using the iOS as entry point and then if I need to make some edits, the macOS app. Hopefully this gets introduced soon.

It is more complicated than that. We had to do some additional work on top to support this functionality. We will fix it in the coming release. We will also enable users to right click on the editor and enable or disable this autocorrection feature.

I like live photos but also have a slight dislike for them as well. Putting them in my journal would be cool but not terribly high on my "must have list" - nice to have, but it wouldn't be something I use very often.

Still would be cool if it isn't too hard to implement.

I can not recall any developer being this responsive, and solution-focused.

You're right, most just offer offhand remarks. I think Omni is one developer that's responsive enough and solution-focused, who respond very reasonably and satisfyingly. @Ibalek is very responsive and this interaction with the developer builds a connect with the app in a positive way. That he acknowledges the user and tries to inform the user is a huge bonus and a personal character trait that incites respect for the developer and his efforts.

Survey: Do you find Apple’s Live Photos useful and would you like Dyrii to support it?

Not terribly important at all! I too find it more a nuisance than anything useful. Most of the times it's switched off for me. :)

Just started Journaling electronically. My wife and I have been keeping hand written daybooks for years, but I wanted something easier to update during the day. I did a lot of research over the last couple of weeks and came upon Dyrii in a recent search. After trying the free version, both my wife and I bought the premium access for a year.
We have been using Dyrii for about a week on our iPhone 7 plus', iPad Pro 9.7" and MacBook Pro's, all running the newest software release. We have had a few minor glitches. My wife's photos she adds during the day from her iPhone, using the app camera access, occasionally disappear and cannot be found. We can't seem to add location to our entries from the iPads and whenever I attempt to add weather to an entry from my MacBook, it says I need a premium membership, which I have. Any suggestions to correct these errors would be greatly appreciated.

One thing about @Ibalek - he’ll take all the above very seriously. Curious to see how this gets resolved.

- Does the photo disappear from iPhone as well or is this happening only on Mac? If the photo is not occasionally showing up on Mac, then it could be a sync related bug. A workaround would be to edit the post or tag it on iPhone to make it sync again with Mac. Let me know if the workaround solves this issue. We will meanwhile chase that sync bug.

- The weather issue is a bug that we are fixing in our upcoming release. This bug currently affects users located in GTM+Hours time zones. Please let me know your geographical location so that we can research this further.

The photos are added to and disappear on my wife's iPhone. She has not used the app on her MacBook Pro yet.

We are located in GMT-5 (Central Time Zone - USA)

Something is surely up with weather. I am in GMT +5:30 India and when I use the macOS app to add weather, it stays on fetching...

And I just checked in detail the entries from iOS, the temperature is all wrong, ranging between 0 degrees and minus 18 degrees! That is not at all India! :) Maybe you need to use another weather service? Or is this some bug?

This is a bug in the code. We will fix it in the next update.

OK. Yesterday my wife tried adding photos to her journal two ways. First she used her iPhone 7s to take the pictures and then added them to the journal entry. She also used the app to directly add pictures to her journal. Both sets of photos vanished from the journal entry. She also tried making a separate, text only entry, which the text after the very first sentence disappeared. She added text back two more times and when she checked the entry later that day, all the text following the first sentence had vanished again. Please let me know if you need a further description of this issue.

Today she has added entries with text and text with a photo, and everything is still there.

Could this be a phone issue where we need to uninstall then reinstall the app?

Journal app users, what's the benefit of using an app like this over using blogging platforms with the journal (blog) set to private? I'm interested in possibly making the switch but I'm not trying to better understand the benefits of one over the other.

I too have seen these blogging platforms online that have the privacy setting to make it so that I can only see it. What is the difference between those and something like Day One or Dyrii? Control over my data. With Dyrii I know my data is on my iPhone or my Mac or the iCloud. With a blogging platform, is my data encrypted? Is my data on whatever server and is it safe? What happens if my account is hacked? I think with a platform like Dyrii, my data is much more secure.

Last weekend my internet went out for 9 hours, for the first time in my life. I couldn’t access anything web. Since I have 1-2 bars of cellular reception at home, I was ... really in the dark. Dyrii had all my entries and let me type in more entries. If I had those entries on a web platform, they’d be inaccessible. Sure, I could just wait but ... it was nice having all my entries.

Dyrii also makes it a lot easier to access all of my data - I can swipe months by and easily find stuff in the past. It reminds me of entries on this day in the past years.

I think the biggest thing is - I can use iCloud or local storage for my data - and know it is safe, accessible offline, and easily exported out to another application. With an online app my data isn’t easily exported, backed up, or moved.

It may cost more than the free blogging service online but, my thoughts are very private and personal to me and matter a lot to me.

Hope this helps. :)

Thank you! That was so helpful. When syncing is it only done via iCloud? Are entries saved locally on the Mac platform too? I had never thought of that, offline access.

To add to my other post, if you sync are entries still stored locally? If I want to write on both my Mac and phone for example? TIA!
[doublepost=1509510290][/doublepost]The fact that there is Siri compatibility makes this extra appealing for me!

Yes, they're stored locally so you can back them up locally, deal with them offline, etc... And yes, it's really good, so if you do an entry on Mac and on your iPhone, it syncs them near instantly.

Amazing, thank you! I'm downloading it now, will download the Mac app later. I think I'll probably end up subscribing, it's more than a reasonable price IMO.

You will find the price exceptionally compelling and the apps delightful to use on both iOS and macOS. Here is a developer who is learning from mistakes others are making. The apps are lean on both platforms, and are visually spacious with a lot of functionality. The spaciousness is inviting. I do not like the DayOne approach on iOS where half of the screen is covered with a blue box containing a plus sign and a camera icon. In Dyrii, it seems a balanced use of text and white space.

Templates
Another feature that is not often talked about, looks pretty optional till you get down to using it, at which point it has the potential to become a highly used feature. Dyrii has some really great templates to get you started in some situations where you do not want a blank slate to type on.

Check out the app on iOS and download it on macOS as well. Take a trial for a week, you will appreciate it and will end up subscribing for sure.

Before we built Dyrii, we tried to maintain our personal journal on blog platforms and we even tried it on path.com, which has a cool iOS app. But at the end of day, we found those to be not a good fit specially because they lacked: a) offline access b) good filters to resurface old memories c) advanced journal centric feature such as handwritten entires, audio, video recordings, day trails etc. These platforms also did not address the privacy concerns arising due to storage of data on 3rd party servers.

I downloaded both and really like them. I think I'm going to be moving to Dyrii. :)

Thanks! I had trouble understanding the advantages of journal apps over online platforms that also had apps and am glad I asked. I felt a little silly asking, but it's much clearer to me now. By the way, I love that you guys added Siri integration! I think you are the only journaling app I've seen to do that and that alone was a HUGE plus to me.

Consider me a future subscriber. :)
