Now that the Airpods are out in the wild (mine come in tomorrow) has anyone gotten any earskinz type bud attachment to fit on their Airpods and more importantly inside the case?

This would solve a LOT of people's issue with Airpods falling out of ears as it's a tacky silicone rubber and is also great for creating a better seal inside your ear for better bass.

I previously used them with my Earpods and I love having them on... but the Airpod case looks tight without much room for a skin attachment on the Airpod.

They look interesting, but my concern is that 1) It might not fit in the case to charge anymore, and 2) It might block sensors that detect "in ear" for auto-pause, or double tap for Siri, etc.

I'd be interested in reading opinions of anyone that's tried the earskins on AirPods. I think the problem is AirPods are so scarce right now, but hopefully we get some feedback from more users soon.

Well if they make specific ones for Airpods it would have the sensor cut outs. Could probably cut them out on your own too. But From how my skinz look on my Earpods and looking at pics of the case I don't think it will fit. :(

Some folks have commented that the Airpods stay in their ears better than the EarPods did.

I hope that is the case, I had to buy the Earskinz for the EarPods, I will try them on the Airpods definitely if I feel the need to do so.

The review on Verge today showed them falling out of one person's ears constantly. He could do with some Earskinz for sure.

Some folks here were saying they were able to workout with them, what was that guy on Verge doing? Maybe upside down jumping jacks head first?? :)

I was about to order some of the skin type things that give it more grip but I have not even had a close encounter with the falling out of my ear and I have been trying on purpose. Yesterday after I got home from buying them I wore them on the couch shifting from one side to the other while I got my news fix. I can actually wear these on the couch, head leaning on arm, and they don't fall out. I took them out because I have a nice sound system for anything needed in the house, or nice enough, but I did try them today. I had errands to run so I put them in my ears and didn't take them out (most) the whole time. When I got in my car it would transfer sound to the car speakers, when I got out the AirPods would take over. I went shopping at several different spots taking my beanie and hoodie on and off without a care in the world. Not once did they fall out or my music stop. Hell, when I was cleaning I tried purposefully rocking my head side to side like I was rocking out hard and they wouldn't budge. The only time this was a bad thing was in the store, two time someone asked me if I needed something more than once until I noticed someone was talking to me. I said "oh excuse me I was listening to music" as I pulled out one AirPod and my music stops. I did feel a little rude but soon enough we will be back 50's style when people would come brush your shoulder when acknowledging you. One younger girl at petsmart legitimately acted shocked when I took out the AirPod and she noticed I was listening to music.

I did buy the spigen cord that connects the two buds. That way if I crash and burn on the slopes this winter and lose them they are easier to find. It cost 8 bucks and wraps around to attach to itself to the charger.

He was just shaking his head. You can see it in his video. He said the shape of his ears make them slide out to begin with. Maybe he's a freak though.

Saw this on 9to5 from a reviewer:

"I’ve been fulfilling my role as reviewer in my office to verify how secure they are; headbanging, running on the spot, jumping up and down. I can’t get them to fall out of my ears. The AirPods barely move even when I’m vigorously shaking my head from side-to-side. Gravity pulls them around my outer ear as I tilt my head, still they do not actually come out even at 90 degree angles. I have no desire to buy AirPods clips or cable attachments, as the fit is fine for me."

Its just different shaped ears. The only way the EarPods stay in for me is with those earhoox things. If I don't use them, there ain't no way they're staying in, no matter how still I keep my head. And in getting caught up in the good reviews, I didn't twig that I'd have to take them on and off to use the charging case. I guess I'll be keeping the Powerbeats3 for running and the EarPods for voice calls.

The same can be said for all headphones though which is why most, even the really cheap in-ear ones ship with multiple sizes of tips.

I read that. Thanks.

I'm not disagreeing with you but they clearly aren't one size fits all as it is one size fits most. I'd still want Skinz because they actually create a better seal and sound better too. But like I said I don't think it will fit in the case and it would be a PITA to have to put them on every time I want to use the buds.

I'm a big advocate of EarSkinz and have contacted them about AirPods on their Facebook page. They say they are working on AirPod versions, which is great in my opinion.

As for EarPod EarSkinz, the company thought the AirPods were slightly larger than EarPods and thus don't work. However, I slipped my EarPod EarSkinz on my AirPods and they fit almost perfectly. There are two issues: 1) the AirPods work, but they think they are in-ear as soon as EarSkinz are applied. This means no auto-pause when you remove them. 2) They definitely don't fit in the case with the EarSkinz on.

I couldn't use EarPods without EarSkinz because they fell out too often. I'm on the fence about my AirPods, though. They fit better for me (not perfectly, but much closer) and I feel like the bass is stifled with my current EarSkinz (whereas bass was improved with my EarPods). I figure if they make an AirPod version I'll buy it, but removal and storage might be an issue.

I'm returning my EarHoox (along with my AirPods). Even if I was keeping my AirPods I'd return them. PITA to put on each time and of course you can't put the AirPods back in the case with them still on the Pods.

I'm glad I came across this post. I got my Airpods yesterday, and have discovered that they do not fit me like the EarPods do. The Airpods are actually too painful for me to wear and I've been researching for hours for ways to stop them from giving me headaches and ear pain.

So far the only recommendation I've seen, outside of not using them, is some sort of cover like these EarSkinz. My concern was obviously that they wouldn't fit in the case, and you have confirmed this. Hopefully the Airpod version they are working on will some how fit in the case, but not sure how they can manage to do that.

Did you have issues with the EarPods hurting your ears, or was your problem exclusively with them falling out of your ears?

They fell out for me. I've got fairly big ears I guess. They were a little... scratchy, pointy? Not painful, but a little uncomfortable and the EarSkinz made the EarPods feel snug and smooth.

Yea, I guess I have small ears. I never realized this in the past because the EarPods always fit me perfectly, but like you mentioned in your previous post, I think these are slightly bigger than the wired EarPods. This slight size increase seams to be just enough to cause me issues. It sucks, because I love the Airpods.

This is my situation. I think my earhole is small but the part that holds the bud and stem is large so they don't get cradled well. I really don't want to return them since I love them otherwise. Been looking for any way around it, even tried cutting up some old earbud silicon tips and sliding them over the AirPods, but it doesn't help. I don't think I have felt covers like one guy suggested. Uggghh

Just got Sugru from Amazon in white and took the tiniest piece (~4-5mm ball) and mashed it onto the top. The AirPods fit fine and don't really slip out but the pseudo-seal that gives me good bass and volume was easily lost with a small in-ear shift that was enough to just make the listening experience a little annoying. I mashed this along the top ridge and a bit towards the upper inside component. It fits in the case.

Totally reversible/removeable but after 30 minutes, it starts to stay as you mold it and basically assumes a rubber-like feeling, and it's doing the job beautifully. This picture is before I smoothed the edges out so they look like they blend into the plastic a bit.

Just attached my Earskinz... the difference is night and day for fit and sound... if you like how they sounded before it gets even better cause the seal is better. Definitely "louder" due to the isolation but they do NOT fit in the case. :( Gonna need a case to carry the charge case and my Skinz.

I thought the small oblong slit on the Earskinz is suppose to go over the slit on the EarPods, though not covering it cause that would ruin the sound. In you pic, you do not show that. The way it is pictured, is that how you are putting the Airpods in your ears with the slit totally uncovered?

You mean the slit on the inside? It's not covered. The sensors are all covered though and it seems the double tap doesn't work.

hopefully they'll release an airpods version with the cutouts for the sensors.

I think they would have to redesign it to be sort of a half sticker... not a lot of room inside the case to fit the buds in with the skinz.

I could see them just adding a piece to the top that sticks on. The sound is so much better with the Skinz on.

These definitely aren't for working out in my opinion, the jaybirds are much better. But for casual listening I don't think there's any better

With the Skinz they are great for working out IMO. They are secure and the bass is great, just not possible to put in the case to charge.

I personally don't like the Jaybirds... the in ear portion (not the silicone bud) is the larger one that hurts my ears. Motorola and Beats use that size. I'm not a fan... prefer the smaller Sony size which luckily a lot of cheaper buds use.
