A much better fit with the foam on.
I bought these foam covers and I don't like them. They slip about and come off. They're tricky to install. I don't find the sounds that much better, mor do they stay in my ears any better. It seems too much hassle for minimal gain.
I do use the EarSkinz for the gym and when exercising outside. These are much better at gripping and they really secure the AirPods. A quick tip: lick the EarSkinz before putting fitting it on the AirPod. That way, they slip on and off extremely easily. That way they don't feel like a pain in the a$$ to use - quick and easy. I still use the AirPds without indoors as I don't need that security and grip. Now, if only they made them with holes for the sensors, they'd be perfect! (I'm sure this is 'coming soon')

How long do these foam things take to get delivered? I ordered yesterday but it looks like they fine from China.

Do they fit in the case ok too?

Mine took about 10 days. They do fit in the case with pressure. I'd save your money. They're awfeful and don't stay in place. EarSkinz are the way forward for now until there's a bespoke solution.

I have both the above pictured ones with the opening as well as the full ones and they both stay in place when in the case and while in my ears. The foam on this particular brand is fairly thick and stretchy and doesn't tear...and mine arrived via Prime in 2 days.

That's different to my experience. I have the ones with the holes and find the slip off easily.
You say you have the ones with full ones? How do these work with the sensors? Do they stop them from working as they should?

I cut out small 2mm holes at each sensor site and that works perfectly with the full ones.

Just got Sugru from Amazon in white and took the tiniest piece (~4-5mm ball) and mashed it onto the top. The AirPods fit fine and don't really slip out but the pseudo-seal that gives me good bass and volume was easily lost with a small in-ear shift that was enough to just make the listening experience a little annoying. I mashed this along the top ridge and a bit towards the upper inside component. It fits in the case.

Totally reversible/removeable but after 30 minutes, it starts to stay as you mold it and basically assumes a rubber-like feeling, and it's doing the job beautifully. This picture is before I smoothed the edges out so they look like they blend into the plastic a bit.

Were you able to fit them in the case and close the case? The AirPods charge fine without having to close the case, but if we leave the case open, it seems that the case battery is draining. Did you face the similar problem?

So, is the general consensus here that if the Apple EarPods fall out of your ears (mine do), then the AirPods will do too?

Yaa pretty much. They might stay little better than the EarPods as there is no cable weighing them down, but don't expect a tight fit. For me the ear hooks like the Bose ear wings work best. I have tried using them with AirPods via DIY, but problem is we cannot close the case. In my case, I am able to charge the airpods fine but because I can't close the case lid completely, it looks like the case battery is constantly draining.

Do other users have the same problem (especially relating to case battery draining if the case lid is open?)

No, for me the EarPods would always jiggle out (the wire being the biggest culprit here). With the AirPods, I can wear them for hours without adjustment. Same goes for the wifey.

Of course, YMMV, but for me the AirPods fit just great with no adjustments.

How are you supposed to get the foam to stay in place? Mine came and they slip around a bit and it doesn't stay in place. Think it does fit better though.
This is exactly what I found and I was shot down as others said they say with no problems. It's just not the best solution. The EarSkins are the best solution so far. They stick like **** to a blanket!

What about taking the EarSkins off everytime you want to put them in the case? Is it easy enough?

It's not that big of a deal for me. I keep my skinz in a case in with a little pocket and the Airpod case goes in another pocket. and I just pop them on and I can use them and pop them off to charge.

To take them on/off is it literally 10-20 second thing?
probably a 1-2 second thing after they've been broken in. Mine were attached to my Earpods for a few months already. They take no time to pop on and off of my Airpods.
