An identical listing in two different countries on opposite sides of the Atlantic? HMmmmm.

I won't be handing over almost £10,000 GBP for that cable. Besides, I'd still need a UK adapter in order to connect it to a mains socket...

I’m with @AphoticD on some of these… I think I smell a whole lotta fresh linens flapping in the breeze here.

Then there’s this one — definitely not laundering so much as very wishful thinking. It’s been listed (and at least at this price, if not even higher) for over 18 months:

I mean, collectible, sure, but maybe for an eighth of that ask.

For decades, I've felt that the Mac Colour Classic is a cute machine and I wish I'd picked one up in the 2000s when they were considered obsolete and worthless but such is life. Despite my admiration for its design and size, there's no way that I'd pay the going rate on eBay of £1,000 GBP etc - let alone sixteen times that for alleged NOS.

I'm not surprised that its been listed for 18 months - at that price it will likely be listed for another 18.

Well, it's now 18 months older so the value proposition increases by the day 😁

Also, since we’re on the topic of eBay and chuckle listings, why not spare a moment to pop open this link and report this chucklehuck for declaring all of these vandalized products as “prototypes” (spoiler: none are).

Or, find another reason to report all of them for violations relating to deceptive descriptions, misleading info, or bundling unlicensed warez.

BOXED? PROTOTYPE? Can someone tell me how this seller has 100% positive feedback? Anyone?

Aw darn it. But they’re still charging for shipping? Does this person know that there’s an auction function on eBay?

The risk with running an auction for something on which the seller hopes to reap seven figures is that it won’t get the press buzz and social media virality it would need to drive up the bid price to what they want for it — risking either selling it too low, or repeatedly auctioning it with a minimum limit that is never reached.

I’m getting the vibe that this is the seller that would bid on their own items just to raise the price on the auction…

Don’t get me going. He’s been at this for years, and I’ve been harping on it on here for years. I’ve reported him in the past for other violations, and I’ve watched him tweak his descriptions, but still he persists on eBay like an itchy STI which never goes away.

I sincerely don’t think the seller of the museum-quality Byte Shop-prepared Apple 1 is in any rush to sell to anyone other than a sincere buyer who knows to showcase and/or conserve it for a gallery or museum collection (and has the patronage to help make that happen).

Well, maybe someone on GitHub is working on an eBay bot that sends unlimited reports 🤣

I’m surprised nobody has mentioned this one. Or maybe I didn’t see it. Either way, it’s been on eBay for over a year…

Definitely an interesting listing - going beyond its absurd pricing.

The devil is definitely in the details...

A couple things of note... Being that the system has been in secure storage for almost 10 years the battery needs replacement.

An iMac with a battery? This is certainly an unusual model that might be worth acquiring if you're a collector or a computer historian! :D

The cd/dvd drive works mechanically however the drive does not read or write cd/dvd

It works but doesn't actually work? Ok.

...and as I understand is an easy and inexpensive fix for those so technically inclined (an external cd/dvd drive was used for the 2 dvd screen grabs).

Considering the asking price, why wouldn't you enlist someone who is technically inclined to perform this easy and inexpensive fix? It would cement the basis of the price.

This unique offering may be of interest to the Gallery Owner, Museum Curator and/or Collector of fine, historical vintage Computers.

A unique offering in the sheer gall of the price, perhaps.

Continuing with that theme...

Unsure whether to chuckle or gasp, but have a look at how long it’s been up:

554 offers and all of them declined? Can't say I'm surprised.

It’s a bit beyond my budget.

Mine too.

Perhaps a bored billionaire might indulge the seller but even if there are only six of these machines remaining on planet Earth it would probably be cheaper to enlist Wozniak to build one from scratch.

All in all, I think the listing is so bizarre. Under the description, “Used” refers to an item that is ‘fully operational and functions as intended.’ Ah, so apparently a DVD drive is operational even if it can’t read or write discs. Can someone bring me up to date? Maybe, under close scrutiny, this seller can change the listing condition to “for parts”?
