EDIT: Finally shipped serial number says old imac.. New iMac taking forever to ship

Hi I finally talked my sister into ordering an iMac(me nor her husband could could convince her to get the 24" though(I know she should have waited but if she didn't order right then there's a good chance she wouldn't order for a long time)) its a 20" with just the vram upgraded to 256. It was ordered on the 23rd and listed as shipping july 24th through 26. Now its the 27th and its listing as shipping july 30th through august 1st. Anybody else have this happen to them? Is this a semi normal occurance with CTO iMacs? Anybody else place an order around the same time experiencing delays?

(Maybe its a sign of new iMacs :D)

Yes, I did the same thing on the 25th only the one I ordered was the 24" iMac with the only upgrade bing the vram. It originally said it would ship the 26th - 28th and yesterday it went to the 30th - August 1st.

BTW, I went to a couple of Apple stores on Wednesday and the sales persons at each said they were having a hard time getting them in this week. At another Apple retailer, (non Apple store) the guy tried to sell me the floor demo (I said no way! - thinking that something new might be around the corner and I might end up with the new model).

Thanks for replying I didn't read through that thread.

hmmm both you and my sister having delays for different vid cards in different imacs to the same date. Makes you wonder. The 31st is a tuesday. There's also that email that got sent to some people by accident. And I see your edit now man it seems close. I really hope she doesn't get it and new ones are out immediately afterward.

Yeah, I have a feeling that they will ship out a new model on Monday the 30th (assuming they are in stock) and since we won't know exactly what they shipped yet, they'll make an announcement on Tuesday the 31st regarding new iMacs and we'll have a new model at our front door shortly after. :D

it would be nice --- I've been sitting pretty waiting for the upgrades myself ... i'm not gagging for a new one ... just hoping/wishing

off topic but look at the way they describe your mouse, keyboard, and osx compared to my sisters. Not a big deal or anything but its kind of wierd they would have the same components described differently.

Yeah, I know everyone's been saying the 7th, but like a true Apple-nerd fanboy I marked my prediction on google calendar (no, not iCal, sorry) as soon as I realized that the iPhone indeed would be released at the end of June (which allowed me to figure out an upcoming timeline).

That date? The 31st. (I predicted this for myself in early June-ish).

Ugh. I'm such a nerd.

common next monday or tuesday. I would be so happy. I am 14 and have been saving up and looking forward to getting a new imac. Now i am using this ibook G3 700, which is horribly slow. I am spending all my money and treating myself to a nice 24 with upgraded specs.

4God you should call and ask what the hold up is :eek: :D I'm certainly not gonna tell my sister to call and risk them rushing the old when when a new one is a possibility. I hope if it is a new one it is still rebate eligible or my sister will be a bit pissed.

What if new ones are coming and they come with 256 megs of ram standard and 512 as an upgrade what have they done in years past?

Are you speaking of VRAM? If you are, I doubt that they'll offer 512MB of VRAM - at least not yet.

i'd be fairly sure new ones are imminent. either the 31st or at the latest the 7th. i don't work for apple, but i do sell their computers for a living, and the only stock of imacs we have at the moment are floor stock. it's been that way for a bit over a week.

If I were a betting man, I'd bet on the 31st. ;)

BTW, I wonder if anybody has ordered a base model in recent days and had it ship within the 24 hour time frame as the online store indicates?

its back to normal now though. You would think though if it is a redesign that they would have a presentation for it.

Well, this morning mine went from "Not yet shipped" to "Prepared for Shipment":

I've never seen this before with Apple. For all of my previous orders it went from "Not yet to shipped" to "Shipped".
I wonder if there has been the same status change for user "joebells"?

every day there are more and more hints of new imacs. i just hope that apple gets them out next tuesday!! There is a reason for all these shipment things happening and stores being out of stock. Apple is probably allready recieving shipments of the new imacs in cupertino and then they will ship them out prob. the day before they are announced.
