yeah my sisters still says not yet shipped I think I might have seen prepared to ship before but I'm not altogether certain. Only thing that has me not believing it is the fact that if it really is such a dramatic change there's usually a presentation.

Also I searched google for "prepared for shipment" and apple and I saw it a bunch of times so I don't think that means anything. China is a day ahead of us and I'm not sure if they count sunday as a holiday there so we'll see. Maybe they will ship out tomorrow(our sunday their monday) with delivery tuesday :D

What if new ones are coming and they come with 256 megs of ram standard and 512 as an upgrade what have they done in years past?
I still expect 128/256 MB GDDR3 break this time around again.

The reference models from ATi and nVidia still show 256 MB. It's possible to go beyond that though but that's up to the OEM.

Well, that's it. I'm gonna have a hard time sleeping for a couple of nights. ;)

hehe same for me too :D

I've been waiting since April for a new iMac.

I have to say though I've been extremely happy with my MacBook! Its a great little laptop...but I 'need' a desktop computer having had a 20" iMac.

Just waiting for it to show, then the hard part is ordering the top spec and then waiting for another 1-2 weeks

Oh well....

Man, I really hope they release a new iMac Tuesday. It's been what, like, 10 or 11 months? Wow.

I've been waiting since like April or so. My Mac mini is great, but I really, really want a new iMac!!

Wirelessly posted (LGE-VX9900/1.0 UP.Browser/6.2.3.2 (GUI) MMP/2.0)

usually delays mean nothing, but hopefully it is pointing to a new imac coming on the 7th as rumored.

welp my sisters iMac is in the air so we'll see what she gets tuesday or wednesday morning. I have a feeling its the old model or they would have waited to ship it. As it could arrive tuesday morning before they would update the store.

The shipping weight according to fedex matches up pretty much exactly with what amazon says a 20" c2d imac weighs when shipped

It says I should have it by Thursday the 2nd. Coming from China, I guess that's why the delay. Dang, I guess I won't be getting the new model. :(

Mine's coming from the same place CTO orders always come from there as thats where the plants are. I wouldn't worry about that thursday part. My sisters doesn't give an estimated delivery date yet but you'll probably have it tuesday or wednesday morning. Me and my sister live here on the east coast in pennsylvania and her ipod came really quick. It even made two stops one in alaska and one in indianapolis and even had to clear customs and still got here quick look at the tracking stats for her ipod. They don't have these with the pokey ground people they have them with the speedy guys. Oh and she chose the basic free shipping for all of it.

The second picture is the tracking info for her iMac.

4god if you check your invoice it lists the serial number and then you can type it into http://www.apple.com/support at the bottom. Hers says

iMac (20-inch Late 2006) :( If they come out next week then thats really messed up of apple. I know she is getting what she paid for and all but still.

Mine didn't show that. Next to the little picture of the iMac it just said 24" iMac and listed the serial below. FWIW, the serial starts with a W.

Yep I know the first 5 digits of your serial number  W8730

It's a standard apple uses your serial number starts with W8 because it came from the shanghai factory the same factory as mine. The next 3 numbers are probably 730 as that is the year (7) and week(30) that your imac was made. The rest will be different as the next three letters designate(in base 34) what sequential number yours was that week and then the rest is model number and such.

Oh and it may not say late 2006 because the 24" ones haven't been updated so there is no late, early, or anything.

Nope never really been through a situation like this I wouldn't personally order a mac when its fairly evident that they are going to be updated any time now but my sister is finnicky and I caught her at a weak moment and convinced her to order. She has been using a pc I built her 7 years ago. Running windows xp service pack 2 on 128 megs of ram, its pretty bad. She was going to get an iMac no matter what I had already talked her into that. But she talked of waiting another year at some points recently.

Oh well at least she has a proven model that shouldn't have any trouble instead of getting a first revision that could have all sorts of issues souring her on macs. The new model might not even be eligible for the iPod rebate either. One year they intro'd an iMac before the end of the promotion and the new iMac wasn't eligible(I believe anyway)
