Have tried a few days with WiFi Calling off but there's been no appreciable difference to the poor battery life. I'll report it on the feedback app as suggested.

Glad I found this thread as well.

iPad Air + iOS9 with EE Mobile SIM. 100% -> 25% sitting in the house all day off charge. For past month, with no real clues from the Battery Usage section. Might be something different but gives me another variable to try...

When you double click on home and cycle through the application, is Music there?

If it is, swipe it up to quit it and then see how your battery fairs.

I had the same issue. I don't have EE sim but I'm using EE network as a roaming operator.

I fixed that by reset network settings (Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings)

Tried a network reset when I realised I had an issue not long after Beta 5 was released.

Closing music does not make it any better.... My wife on 8.4 it makes a big difference to close music

Hopefully GM will have it resolved

Ok, interesting. Left my iPad in Airplane mode (but Wi-Fi On and connected to home network) when I left for work. Came home to 96% battery left which is the first time in weeks I've not seen a massive drain.

Not conclusive but first time I've managed to stop the drain!

Thanks all for the info!

I've upgraded to 9.1 public beta. I'll report back on battery performance after a couple of days.

On the 9.0 betas this problem was being caused by CommCenter running at 110% CPU all the time. The only way I could stop it from doing so would be to remove the EE SIM card (restart required as device is unable to notice that a SIM has been removed).

Can anyone running 9.0GM or 9.1 beta plug into Xcode and run Instruments to see if CommCenter is still going crazy?

Me also. Seems okay so far. I have Music running in the background (though not currently playing) and haven't Force quit it and have 93% of battery with 33mins use and 3hrs 52mins standby.

The real test will be listening to music which I'll do on my way home tonight.

9.1 seems to have fixed the heat issue. I'm still seeing fairly rapid battery loss but not as fast as iOS 9.

Edit: Actually, scrap that too. I'm seeing very slight heat spikes when using Apple's own apps. Such as News.

It was my understanding that playing music barely took any battery in general. Unless of course you're streaming from Apple Music, I guess.

In my case that was where I saw the most battery impact, even when switching off Apple Music and only using music on the device. Listening to music stored on my phone would result in a circa 27% hit in battery for an hours worth of playing.

It looks like it may need a few days to bed in. I did a clean upgrade to the 9.1 beta yesterday and there was apparently pretty swift battery drain whilst reinstalling apps and downloading iCloud data. It had gone down to 39% after about 3 hours' use and stuck at that mark for about an hour of use before dropping to 38%. Then it drained at a normal rate down to 1% over the course of the evening. I left it at that overnight to drain to zero but it was still at 1% this morning and I got half an hour or so of use out of it before it died. This suggests the battery badly needs to recalibrate after 9.0 beta.

Just wanted to flag this up to the rest of you upgrading to 9.1 looking for better battery life.

Is this affecting all EE sim only or just some? I got my new sim today and waiting for the number to port before I use it but should I expect the dreaded drain?

Only affecting me with EE.... I used a three SIM whilst in the states and on Beta 5... Had zero issues whilst there, came back to the UK, pu the EE SIM back in .... heat and drain came back..

GM is not as bad ... But still has an issue

I'm having all the same issues reported, just updating Xcode and will see what's running that could be causing the drain, not sure how much 9.1 would help at this stage. Very frustrating

Looks to be exactly what we thought in that the connection to EE is causing the issues... With the CommCenter process going crazy

Do you mind flagging this up to Apple on the feedback app? You seem to have a good grasp of the issue.
