I've got wifi calls enabled and add wifi calling. Just tested and I'm getting calls through to my iPad. Too early to tell about battery life but not seeing any ridiculous heat.
That's normal to have calls through to iPad (it was on iOS 8) as it routes through the iPhone, this new iOS 9 option lets you make actual wifi calls from the iPad (or Mac) without the need to route through the phone - it can be off or left at home and you can still make wifi call from another iCloud device.

That's what this new option/button is supposed to do, but it only appears to work on t-mobile in the USA so far. I was wondering if it worked on EE, however it appears not.

Try turning your phone off and make a call from the iPad, that's how you'll know if it is actually working.

Oh ok. Thanks for the clarification. I did have it working in os8 but when I installed os9 the calls didn't come through to my iPad when I had wifi calling enabled until I put calling for other devices on. Might have just been a glitch the first time though.

Ee have sent carrier update out with iOS 9 should be fixed. Won't be fixed in 9.1 beta though I don't think

No. But I already had 3 devices listed below so I assumed those were connected. It appears I was wrong though.
Yeah they're probably connected as 'nearby' devices (it'll say on the the previous screen under this option). Doesn't look like EE have enabled iCloud wifi calling, which is disappointing.

It's not, there was no carrier update for 9.1 and there's no way to know whether there'll be one in the next beta release, or whether we're waiting until November.

There is not one for 9.1 beta 1 it's come out with iOS 9 release today. They won't update it on a beta. Go to 9.0 battery is much better no more hand warming phone (even though it's nice in cold). Seems a lot better.

But have you got 'add wifi calling to other devices' working? Button does nothing for me, which is odd as I thought it didn't appear if it wasn't enabled on the carrier side?

So, no... I had disabled WiFi calling as part of the testing to see what was causing the problem.

Phone has been running cool since updates.... So re-enabled WiFi calling to see what happens.

BUT .... You are right selecting "'add wifi calling to other devices" still does nothing.

I switched to Vodafone, not because of this but my contract was up and I got a better priced SIM only deal... Anyway it fixed the issue.

Perhaps the live iOS9 is shipping with a different carrier version to the one that came with the betas? Not sure if that is technically possible or not.

The calls on other devices setting used to be under FaceTime settings and would get disabled when you enabled Wifi calling, now it works even with Wifi calling.

T-Mobile have a more advanced version that allows you to make calls on your other devices even if your mobile phone isn't on the same Wifi network, or even if your phone is switched off.

Dang, Tried to roll back from 9.1 and found that my backup had already synced itself up to 9.1 beta.

Oh well warm phone until 9.1 officially releases and then I off beta.

I downloaded my updated carrier file at work, firewall should have picked up the connection so i'll see if my colleague can pull the location of the .ipcc file

Does anyone know if EE plan to support this feature soon? Would be extremely useful

If you get an iOS 9 release ipsw and put your phone in recovery mode, you can "update" from 9.1 to 9.0 and keep all apps/files/etc but still get the 21.1 carrier settings. Worked for me.

"Updated" last night to the official 9.0 release (took ages to download) Carrier update kicked in. Currently at 98% for 4hrs 34mins of standby and 29 minutes of use. The real test will of course be when I play music on the way home, which last night (before update on 9.1 PB) resulted in a ~1% drop in battery per song.
