Considering my last post, above, I don't know if this is a good idea or a great idea.

I have a mind to bring the Gaggia in to my office so I can make espresso while I'm at work.... I would just need to get a better grinder and another scale.... Hmmmm decisions, decisions.

Espresso (or, even the purchase or acquisition of a decent French Press, plus proper coffee - a conversation I have had this very evening with a colleague) are necessities, (and not luxuries) in the modern office.

I say go for it.

Well, I certainly have a grinder and FP at work. If you have the room and your colleagues don't mind the noise, I say espresso at work is totally worth it!

Those aren't issues for me as I have my own office and a door! The only thing holding me back is my wallet. Since I just dropped a lot of dough on the Expobar, I need some time to recover!

Enjoy the Expobar for now, it is a terrific machine; a Gaggia - or a French Press - will not cost anything like as much when the time comes to invest in either of them.

When purchasing for an office (another part of tonight's conversation), be prepared to buy stuff that you will not mind bidding a fond farewell to.

That consideration - in turn - will determine what price you are prepared to pay for it. Buy the best you can afford while simultaneously being willing to recognise that circumstances might compel you to walk away from it.

Ahhh, yes for some reason I thought you had a second grinder too! Hmmmmm.

I do have a second one, but its not good enough for espresso, and I just use it for FP.

Then, get a FP for the office.....as a temporary expedient, it will suffice wonderfully...

There comes a point in a day of meetings when a second espresso is called for. That point is now rapidly approaching.
Indeed. Meetings should always have espresso handy just to keep you going to end of them!

Yesterday I did not have my 3rd espresso, which is usually in the afternoon. I arrived home around 5:30 pm from work and the gym and felt it was too late in the day for a dump of 160mg of caffeine given I would have to let the Expobar warm up for at least 30 minutes. Plus I was just exhausted having been awake since 3 am that day and had a very hard, but good, workout. I didn't want to ruin any potential quality sleep. I had to struggle to stay awake until at least 8:30 or 9 pm before heading to bed. I made it to 8:45 and slept until almost 6 am. I feel pretty good so far and well rested.

I've already had my 2 morning espresso's, so I am loaded up with about 320mg of caffeine now and ready to go to work.

Today the Atomic Coffee Roaster's Diesel beans are supposed to arrive via the USPS and I'm looking forward to tasting them.

It sounds like you had a good night sleep. I'm guessing that you awoke at about 6:00 AM as a result of Puma's urging and his need for his morning treats.

I've had my first cup of coffee this morning and my body is slowly waking up. Soon to have my second cup to further wake up this nasty old body. If you need about 320 mg of caffeine to get going, I figure a full gram or two might move me out of my chair.

I bid good morning to all...

FOLGERS!?

No...no...take some No Dōz for the caffeine! Anything but submitting to Folgers!

Spare yourself that agony!:(

ahahhaha. I actually thought about it, but the concept of "free coffee" wins over the idea of no coffee at all even if it's ... Folgers . I tried to setup a small coffee club here where we could buy some better coffee, but it failed miserably; it seems that I am the only coffee lover among many coffee drinkers here.

Sure, free coffee is always nice and subject to some wiggle room in terms of quality. But I'm pretty sure Folgers is just freeze dried caffeinated boot scrapings, so it can't figure into such a calculus. ;)

I actually love Folgers. I buy several pounds each spring and summer. I use it straight out of the plastic canisters and onto my lawn and anything that loves nitrogen. Not only does it smell nice for a few days, but it keeps bugs and gnats away for weeks, sometimes months. After about 7 weeks, I see a huge flush of new growth attributed solely to the "coffee." I much prefer using coffee grounds, used or "new" as a means of fertilization and not mess with synthetics.

Folgers isn't without merit. Though, one can't quite get over the fact that they made a commercial 7 years ago about a brother and sister that is so horribly wrong. I'm off to work now, but enjoy the creepy ad they made!

Now that seems like a reasonable use for the "i" stuff!

Instant? I mean their grounds. Honestly, I'm sure their instant coffee is 70% chemicals left over from the process. I've had their 'i' twice. Once when I was in university eons ago and once many years back. Either I remember the past too fondly or my taste buds were not as adept as they were the last time I tried it.
