I always like the mars Flavian coffee system while most of the machines are not espresso the coffee/tea is good, they have added Pete’s coffee, Starbucks (with the hummingbird) and alterra plus the now dove mint hot chocolate.

There is a bestro model which does espresso.

A cup of Brazilian made in my cafetière. Nice and strong with a dash of full fat milk.

Today is a day for myself. All alone (good!). Have been out for papers (Telegraph and Guardian), had a hot shower and now sat down with coffee. Outside it’s a lovely spring like day, sunny and around 11 degrees Celsius. Just perfect!

Plan; Papers, TV, Books, TV, Booze. All with some sort of food throw into the mix. Happy Saturday everyone!

Sounds a pleasant way to spend a morning, or afternoon.
Some people watch old video they've taken, others go through a collection of microfiche, I like going through old handwritten entries and photos that have aged.

Sounds silly, but some of the photos caused a sensory memory in the form of scent. I'm not sure what the word to explain the phenomena is, apart from it existing, wherein one can reference a special period in their life and recall it well, and somehow also recall and almost smell that experience or experiences as if they just relived it again.

Make sense? Hopefully I do. On the other hand, I had a dream a few weeks back where I was able to smell a bunch of flowers. Had to be my first time where I smelled something in my dreams. Though this could be because I've been using medication that uses a spirit which belongs to a group of flowers, and there might have been residue in my sinuses and caused my brain to think I was smelling it in the dream. Who knows.

I'll let you know when I'm able to make crates upon crates of Riesling appear without me physically moving. I'll share the secret with you and send you crates of KBS.

I'm partial to crates of Riesling (and Chablis) myself, fear not.

And today's purchases included Ethiopian coffee.

Sitting on a deck looking at a garden or dxing with a shortwave radio for international transmissions or just listing to hams on single side band while having coffee or tea.

Decided to enter, fully, the arena of manual espresso making. As some of you already know, I have the wonderful HG-One manual grinder. Today I've ordered a La Pavoni EPC-8 lever espresso machine. It should arrive on Tuesday. Also getting a tamp to fit it which will be a 51mm stainless steel BlueSnail tamp.

Oh, wow.

I have drooled over and happily (and horribly) admired those La Pavoni machines. They are just gorgeous and absolutely beautiful; form and function flawlessly fused in an exquisite design.

Our mutual friend, @Shrink, talked me out of purchasing one around six years ago, arguing, correctly, that as it is entirely manual, I mightn't much care for it.

As a middle aged female who is allergic to all known forms of exercise, I must say that even using my (perfectly splendid) OE Lido grinder can be a bit of a strain at times.

Here, I am sipping an Ethiopian coffee with a pain au raisin.

For months I have been trying to buy @Shrink 's Londonium I manual machine and we agreed on a price too. However, with his post "great swan dive" condition, he is unable to figure out how to disassemble it for shipping. So I decided to go in another direction, for now, and looked at multiple reviews and videos of this La Pavoni machine and went with it.

I'm excited to learn how to extract shots with the manual lever. It also has the added benefit of no noise too. While I love my Expobar semi-automatic, it does have a vibratory pump and makes a good deal of noise which I am not a fan of. Perhaps I should have gone with a Rocket that @Kurwenal had recommended which had the rotary pump. Ah well. No big deal.

Is it not possible for him to have someone else dismantle it for him in order to then send it on to you?

I remember photos of that stunning machine when he posted them; if memory serves, it was a special order, and I recall him writing about it on this very forum - if not thread.

However, good luck with the La Pavoni. I think you'll enjoy it, and the sheer design sensibility alone is something to drool over.

Apparently not. But we've not ruled out that I may obtain it at some point in the future.

Here is the post when he received the Londinium I. It was just a couple of pages back - 5 years ago.

Ah: There was an amazing coffee machine and a stunning grinder? Which was which? And which of the pair (if not both) have you your eye on?

Actually, I had forgotten that, although I recalled the air of enthusiasm of the actual post.

Good grief: Five years ago.

The HG-One grinder in the photos of Shrink's post is on the right. It has been in my possession for about 2 years I think. The Londinium I is on the left with the big lever sticking up. That's what I have been wanting to get from him, but he's having difficulty with disassembly for shipping.

Yeah. 5 years ago! Time sure flies!

Ah, yes.

So, you did buy the grinder - I recall when you were discussing it; if memory serves, that was the particular machine (the HG-One) that he had ordered (commissioned) especially from London - I do remember those posts. In fact, I recall having to google the manufacturer's site - I think @Shrink may have provided a link - in order to read more about this and obtain details of the actual machine.

Without doubt, it is absolutely beautiful.

Excellent: How do you find the grinder?

And now, you are interested in purchasing that stunning coffee machine - the Londinium (which I also recall investigating online)? It would be wonderful if some way could be found to ensure that this machine goes to a good home if @Shrink is no longer able to enjoy the use of it.

Close on your recollection. He sourced and commissioned from London the Londinium I espresso machine. The HG-One grinder I believe he ordered without much back and forth as he did on the Londinium.

Now, I find the HG-One grinder to be fabulous. I never want to use another grinder for espresso again. It's the perfect machine for espresso with it's huge 83mm burrs, the same ones used on the Mazzer grinders. It also is an infinite adjustment grind setting so it can be dialed into perfection and not limited by step settings pre-determined by the manufacturer. Lastly, and just as important, it is elegant and stunning to behold.

Delighted that you have managed to get such use from (and such enjoyment from your use of) the HG-One grinder; agreed, it is a handsome and magnificent piece of equipment.

Made a great pot of Dave's Coffee's new single origin Honduras Javier Fernandez. This is a small crop, light roasted coffee and is very flavourful. I am enjoying this one immensely.

Cappuccino and looking at gift idea for my SiL's birthday in a few months.
[doublepost=1550548042][/doublepost]Espresso. That cappuccino didn't fulfill the craving I had. I also just read an email from that Big Publisher that sends me a shipment of proofs to read every quarter to six months. I should be getting a discreet tracked and signature required box sometime this week. The run up is for books from a May to October release schedule. Read, note and send back. Used to be easier when they simply asked for proof of destruction.

And a funny anecdote, I spent about 20 minutes searching for the carafe of the drip machine this morning only to realize it was sitting where it usually is. On the platform of the machine. Had a similar problem a few days ago when making a nice Turkish with the ibrik in my left hand as I was navigating the cabinets and walking in and out of the butler's pantry annoyed because I couldn't find it.

To be fair to myself, I was distracted by an emergency news alert on my phone both times.

Personally, I have long thought that even the very concept of multi-tasking is very much over-rated.
