Received my dose of David Lynch coffee (3 packs), had two cups this morning.

Hope you enjoyed it.

Because I placed my order with the Ethiopian Coffee Company yesterday afternoon, they informed me that it will be despatched only this evening.

On account of the week-end, that means I cannot expect to receive it until early next week.

Ah, that really sucks. Hopefully you have enough coffee reserves to assure your survival...

Glad to learn that you enjoyed your coffee.

Probably just about enough to see me over the week-end, if I ration myself to one - at most two - mugs of coffee a day; this is one of the reasons I phoned The Ethiopian Coffee Company yesterday to place an order.

In truth, once they explained that the order wouldn't go out until today (my fault entirely, I phoned too late to catch the Thursday delivery), that means - with the week-end - I doubt I shall receive it before Tuesday.

Thanks, but no thanks.

The real stuff for me, and nothing else.

Actually, in any area of life, once you acquire, or develop, a taste for the good stuff, a refined palate with a marked preference for quality, it becomes rather difficult - or awfully hard (nay, almost impossible) to revert to what you used to consume in blissful ignorance.

Having some tea after lunch. Pick the kids up in a while and maybe go for a Cuban coffee after dinner. Provided I can whip up the sugar well enough.

We're working our way through a genuinely fantastic bag of Peruvian coffee. It's an awesome tasting medium roast from Dave's Coffee and worth every penny we paid for it! I'd put this bean up against any other on the globe!

There is nothing quite like a well made Cubano! So strong and sweet. Just my kind of coffee! Reminds me of good Middle Eastern coffee.

Thanks for the link to the video; fascinating.

My Italian friend made her espresso with whipped sugar in almost the exact way, except that she beat the sugar mix in the espresso cups, rather than in the jug, and poured the espresso from the moka pot into the espresso cups.

The only think I would add to that - hailing, as I do, from northern Europe, where winters (and ofttimes summers, too) are cold and damp, is to heat the espresso cups in advance. Otherwise, one finds that one is sipping lukewarm espresso, rather than piping hot espresso.

Well, Cuban coffees hail from Cuba and the Miami area, predominately. Cold cups really aren't an issue down there. Cooling it off a bit from the pot is usually a bit of a good idea. They're usually ripping hot.

Here, in the British Isles, we have the opposite problem; I have learned that if I do not heat espresso cups, or coffee mugs, in advance, - even in summer - the coffee all be lukewarm at best when one starts to drink it, which is not an agreeable or pleasant sensation.

Obviously, Cuba and Miami are different.

Friend of mine visited Colombia; he sent me coffee beans from a roaster in Bogota'. I made some coffee today using the beans he sent me, pour over brew. One of the best coffees I ever had. As my current avatar would say, "This is - excuse me - a Damn Good Coffee."

Yes, I noticed that your current avatar (who is this - I don't recognise the individual?) is no longer the venerable Dr Kissinger.

But, back on topic, you recommend Colombian coffee?

Dr. Kissinger will be back :) My current avatar is Dale Cooper, the main character from Twin Peaks. I think you'd really enjoy Season 1 and Season 2 (made in 1990) :) If you ever reach Season 3 (2017) Episode 8 you'll see what is probably the best work of art that ever appeared on a screen.

I'd say that Colombian is hit or miss. I had some Colombian coffee that tasted like charcoal, and other Colombian coffee that tasted amazing (Such as the one sent by my friend).

Glad to hear it.

Actually, I was in the Baltic states for several months on an EU travelling scholarship in the early 90s when Twin Peaks was broadcast, and thus, missed much of it as I was unwilling to start viewing a show in the middle of the series.

Thus, I never saw it.

But, I do recall the haunting theme music, and thought it wonderful.

That was why I asked (with no small surprise); I have had some superb coffee from El Salvador, but, in my experience, Colombian coffee was nothing spectacular, and some of it, as you correctly point out, was downright awful.

Enjoyed a coffee that I blended myself this morning; a blend of two different Ethiopian coffees (both from Yirgacheffe) with the "bright", clear, clean notes of Ethiopian coffee coming through strongly.
