The Sunday morning news reported that the Duke of Montecito had returned from a flying visit to London during which he seems to have spent more time in airplanes than he'd spent on the ground. I suspect this produced a mega case of jet lag for him.....something that some strong coffee might help.....so to mark the occasion, I made a blend of left over spare beans that were rattling around in the bottom of their packages.

Fortunately there was only enough "Spare Blend" for one mug.

I really do not understand how the Duke of Montecito is deemed to be worth so many column inches and their online and TV equivalents.

While claiming to seek privacy (a perfectly understandable desire), in reality, their very conduct suggests the polar opposite. Nor do I understand a desire to retain royal titles when residing elsewhere, especially when residing in a place where the Head of State is elected.

Anyway, enjoy your coffee, and I shall take that as a timely hint to prepare my own.

I purchased some Colombian coffee, which I must try out, but, I suspect what remains of my Ethiopian coffee may claim my allegiance (and palate) first.

Enjoy your coffee all, had a very nice espresso this past Friday in Yvoire France during the farewell lunch with our spring cohort.

I had to look up the "Duke of Montecito" and got confused for a split second seeing it is in California until I saw a couple of names that cleared that up.

Anyway I have had my 3 coffees today.

Three coffees!

Wonderful.

Were they all the same?

Yes, just work coffees (pod) though fairly decent quality if not comparable to barista or my trusty Bialetti.

Ah, yes, the trusty Bialetti; a wonderful device, and one that also looks absolutely gorgeous, - that superb design fusion of form and function - perched on top of a stove or oven.

Do enjoy, nevertheless.

I am sipping an Ethiopain coffee (the last of it, alas), with (organic) hot milk served in my Le Creuset (the glorious volcanic burnt orange) mug.

My Bialetti needs to be pressed into service soon.

In fact, I realised that I was staring - with renewed interest - at my moka pots today.

Has anyone any thoughts on what coffee would work best with a moka system?

@decafjava has reminded me that I have two perfectly good moka pots (one a Bialetti pot, brought back from Italy by my godmother - who had been my mother's best friend at their boarding school - and given as a gift to me) that I haven't used in ages.

It is high time - more than high time - since I used these.

ah yes! The Bialetti...I haven't used mine in a long time but it still sits among my inadvertent collection of coffee making devices.

When it was in use, there was usually a can of Lavazza's coffee around. I suspect it was an Italian roast, although that was also the time when a French roast was the main type of coffee in the apartment.

sounds great!

Chocolatey notes are very high o my list of things I like in coffee

Well, this coffee has impressed me, impressed me sufficiently to want to read more about Colombian coffees.

And, in turn, my reading materal informed me that Colombian coffee frequently comes complete with that chocolatey note, a hint of mocha chocolate. Lovely.

A prime example being Shakira ;)
Didn't she divorce recently? :p

My pathetic comment of the week. Anyway, I had a very nice coffee from a local food/drink stand called "La roulotte".

If anyone passes by the Nyon railway station in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland this is highly recommended and not just for coffee especially in good weather.

We've been having our house renovated recently after flood damage and my espresso machine has been stored away for months.
Making instant "sachet latte" coffees has been pretty awful, but having to buy coffees when out has helped get me through.
Yesterday I brought my machine out of storage and it has been a revelation. I forgot how much I enjoy my own coffee.
A well-made (for me) latte with my favourite beans really does make my day. Especially when working from home.

Excellent, do enjoy.

I wasn't aware that LavAzza produced five different types of coffee, and have been curious about them.

Which LavAzza coffee do you like best?
Lavazza have way more than 5 different types of beans - can't speak for their grind coffee though.

I don't recall what sort I liked best from earlier. That's why I bought 5 different sorts now, to get back into it.
But I am fond of their beans in general.
I have been on origin beans a few years - such as South America, especially Guatemala, Mexico and some Brazil.

Now back to Lavazza 😋

Here you go. https://thedarkestroast.com/white-coffee/

I’ll order some from a special brewery next time I need some coffee. I will report my feedback.

Many thanks for this.

A fascinating read (I love reading about coffee, and I passionately love to learn something new, so this is very much a win/win situation).

I must say that I very much look forward to reading your feedback on 'white coffee'.
