All rain instead of a good summer here, at least make me indulge in more hot espresso's.
I don't mind a bit of the ice-espressos once in a while, but I much prefer hot strong and big espresso's.

I'm enjoying a mug of Colombian coffee while waiting for the arrival of what was originally a hurricane but is now reduced to a tropical storm

so far it's only produced a light drizzle of rain
Spitting rain here, too, at the moment (mind you, gales were busy blowing yesterday and the previous night, accompanied by a veritable deluge), and I must say that my preference is the same as that expressed by @Lioness~ when she wrote that she far preferred "hot strong and big espressos". So do I. So do I.

My setup: Breville Barista Express, green Brazilian dry process coffee beans from Sweet Maria’s, “coffee popper” (from Sweet Maria’s), and distilled water.

Nothing better than 0-day roasted coffee beans, just past 2nd crack, ground to espresso fineness, using distilled water, so you taste nothing BUT the espresso. I get the taste of espresso with no bitterness. So smooth. Sheer bliss. That’s when I really started enjoying my Singolo espresso shots.

the rain arrived not long afterwards.......first some light rain, then a moderate rain and that turned into heavy rain that's lasted the rest of the day and may continue all night.

Oh, and also there was an earthquake in the middle of the afternoon

I have slept through earthquakes (in Georgia, Caucasus Georgia, that is, and came to the conc,usion that I would fail the Princess and the Pea test each and every time, I'm afraid) and was sufficiently awake to remember that we experienced a few in Kabul.

The rain did indeed continue all night....very unusual for August which is typically the driest month of the year where I live.

I've not heard reports of damage from the earthquake. I was driving my car at the time and didn't notice it, but It was strong enough that I would have expected to feel it if I'd been home. My place has tall sliding closet doors that will rattle with the slightest quake and that's how I usually become aware that there's an earthquake happening

Really enjoyed a large Espresso made of 100% Arabica, and really enjoyed the cleanliness of that again - few more cups of these beans, before next bag. No need for shopping more beans here yet, I'm all good.

an order of coffee is on the way and the Post Office says it will arrive today.....but if it doesn't, fortunately I've enough coffee for another week

I'll have to have a bit of Ethiopian, as I have heard so much about it here.
Looks like I am going shopping
The thing about Ethiopian is that it is a very specific preference and taste profile: The coffee is not, in general, a dark roast, and the taste profile is something best described as clean, clear, and "bright".

Personally, I arrived at the realisation that I love it, but, it is not to everyone's taste.

From recent purchases, I'll add a couple of descriptions of Ethiopian coffees that I found to be fairly accurate;

"Elegantly fruit-toned, juicy and bright....Sweetly tart structure with high-toned acidity; plush, syrupy mouthfeel. Resonant, long, flavor-saturated finish."

"Floral and richly fruit-toned.... Sweet-tart structure with winy acidity; full, syrupy mouthfeel.....rich finish"


I've left out the detailed mention of specific flavor notes because, well, those can be a bit elusive sometimes. I've found that the flavor notes for Ethiopian coffees do vary quite a bit, and for me, that's part of the fun of trying them.
 
Having finished the last of the Colombian Geisha yesterday, this morning I'm having the first mug of some newly arrived coffee. It's an Ethiopian coffee from a farm growing local heirloom varieties of Arabica.

The roaster's description; "A classic natural-processed Sidama cup: balanced, fruit-focused, cocoa-toned and richly sweet."

I'd swap the position of "cocoa-toned" and "fruit-focused" in their description though. It does have that classic Ethiopian mouthfeel.
