I've been looking at both these - probably have decided which I will buy.
But wan't to hear your reflections, if you have any? - before I hit the buy button.

Longing for good Espresso too 😉

the choice seems to be....do you want the ease of the "assisted" machine? or do you enjoy the process and ritual of making the espresso?

Although maybe the price might also make a difference in deciding between the two.

I know, still I haven't found any substational answer whether I can use the Impress Express unassisted totally also. If I would buy that one I don't want to be stuck in an assisted use. I think I read it somewhere, but not sure where now. Too much reading and surfing about this lately 🤯
I've had several different types of Espresso machines, so I'm hardly any beginner, but I am lazy as crap at times, but not always 😁
I will continue to explore until I feel satisfied with all answers.

Thank you for sharing this wonderfully interesting video; I enjoyed it.

Okay: For me, the Impress Express would appeal more: I like the fact that you can tweak it to a greater extent when preparing espresso, - that is, you can prepare coffee either assisted or manual as your mood takes you, or, as is determined by your mood, and I love the aesthetics of that machine.

Had this lovely machine 6 years now, it sees daily + use , truly zero issues.
My only gripe.. a few tall mugs can’t fit .. just 1/2” more ..

Just ordered this - it arrives on Tuesday 🥰
One of the convincing factors was also that it will most likely will fit in where I had my earlier espresso-machine. If it doesn't I can always take off the lid and make something lower plastic as a lid.
The more recent, and most, modells have grown in size - this is big enough for me.

@mtbdudex - this might be the same modell as you have. They just seem to have different names in US and Europe.

Is that the Breville Barista Express Impress that was shown in the video that you linked, or, a later version?

In any case, the very best of luck with it; seems a terrific purchase, - well wear - and I hope you enjoy many espressos (and Americanos, and other drinks) with it.

The Express Impress is a newer modell, it's also larger. The Pro is also too big for my liking.
So I went with the Express, a bit smaller, and it's good enough and will last me some years. I might have moved when I need to buy a new Espresso Machine next time as well.

Sounds brilliant: Well wear, and do enjoy and post some pictures when it arrives and you have made a delicious espresso with it.

Outside of Europe, Breville and Sage are the same company. Within Europe they're different companies and make different machines.

In the UK, Sage and Heston Blumenthal machines are the same.

It's confusing: if the machine looks the same it's probably the same :)

Enjoy your new machine, Lioness! Looks much fancier than my DeLonghi. Mine has a few minor faults so I'm always on the lookout for a replacement just in case any of those minor issues become major ones I can no longer fix.

Ahhh, the pouring of whole beans into their hopper .. experimenting with the grind coarseness setting to find the correct pressure as the espresso is flowing .. the smell of freshly ground beans .. the tactile feel of manual tamper .. adjusting the grind cycle time to minimize waste .. then finally pressing the double button .. twice .. and seeing /smelling the lovely frothy delight .
Enjoy, it’s 6am in Michigan I’m just getting my first going now.

Btw we do capture and recycle coffee grinds into the garden, capture them here with other organics

Gorgeous image, and a wonderful post, that I thoroughly enjoyed reading.

Currently sipping an evening coffee, Ethiopian, naturally processed, with organic hot milk.

Thx, had my 3rd espresso stressing out as Detroit lions squeaked by New Orlean saints in American football .
Our best start since 1962 at 9-3 now.
Every word after "my third espresso" - well, okay, I understand "stressing out" - but nothing else after that made any sense whatsoever, but, I think you are celebrating some sporting achievement.

Enjoy the espresso and the sports.

Ha, well for the record I do love both of them .. grew up with USA football, all 3 my kids played soccer ages 4-adult (and made $$’s as referee for spending money)

Grind coarseness is absolutely a critical and underappreciated aspect of brewing a fine cup of coffee and differs greatly depending on brewing method.

Coarseness of grind matters enormously when preparing coffee; French Press and moka pots take rather different grinds, for example.

Enjoyed Ethiopian coffee today with organic hot milk.

Not sure if I’ve shared these here or not. 2 of my favorite espresso related images.

First .. yes espresso does make the world spin around

Second .. my kiddos 6 1/2 years ago experiencing their first single shots

^^^^ that was my first machine used it many years

Horrible football by our women's team yesterday, but wonderful Espresso today 😉

Honestly I have to change my settings at times to make it less intense, at times at least.
Or just add some water….
Need to play with this machine 😜
