Have someone here tested beans aged in whiskey for a while?
I assume before roasting 😉
When I need to buy beans again - not this year - I've earmarked some that I have to test.

A great midday large Espresso is enjoyed at the moment 😋

I had some bourbon aged beans last winter, I don't remember the details of the process, and there was definitely some flavor note of bourbon in the brewed coffee.

also, winter is a good time for adding a small dash of scotch/whiskey/bourbon

While out walking yesterday I stopped at a local coffee place to have a flat white. They have their usual coffee selections, locally roasted for the shop, but recently they've had a changing selection of interesting coffees as single shot options.

And they don't charge extra for something from the special coffee list... o_O

Spotting Ethiopian Wush Wush on among the current specials, I picked it for my flat white.

Ah, excellent.

I hope that you enjoyed it.

I love those small (independent) coffee shops, where, almost invariably, you can find unusual and interesting coffees, and where the produce is often especially sourced and roasted.

My morning coffee was somewhat rushed (as I had an early morning ENT hospital appointment), hence, I am now enjoying a lunch time relaxed coffee from El Salvador with organic hot milk.

My Siemens Espresso machine got sick, and probably are dying 🥲

A shi-tty plastic smal thing that makes water go from the water-container and into the machine is broken and collapsed. So no water go into the machine, and I am told to fill up the water container when it's full.
Will check tomorrow if it's worth to get it into repair.
Probably not. I bought the machine 2017, and the machine before it at 2011. Seems like 6 yrs of excellent Espresso are what I get out of these machine's.

Neither have I found my old manual Espresso machine. I haven't seen it in ages. But I know it should be somewhere. At least I have an old excellent French Press, for occasions like this - I found it too 👍☺️

Several years ago we bought an Aldi coffee pod machine on the basis of one PNG coffee pod that somebody made for me.
It worked well for a few years, then one morning, I was making coffee and there was a loud SPAAT!! noise from inside. I knew that noise as an electrical failure. In a machine full of water. Not good. I carefully reached around it and turned it off from the machine.
We bought a new one, the smaller, squarer model, which has been providing sterling service since.
Also every year Aldi sell the simple, noddy-level DeLonghi espresso machine at half price. We also have one of those.

However, if all else fails, we have an Aeropress. I would seriously encourage you to get one of those. The coffee it makes is somewhere in between espresso and French press. And a bit smoother than either.

The trusty old filter paper and dripper method is also fairly foolproof, in my experience.

Actually, I am debating the purchase of a Chemex (and also recognise, as I already use the Hario dripper and filter paper method, the moka pot method, and the French Press method, that I am not sure that I really need it; however, it does make wonderfully smooth coffee).

@Lioness~ commiserations on the demise of your machine.

condolences!

I've suffered thru the demise of several espresso machines over the years.....and then finally a rather expensive grinder failed as well. This lead to a period of grumpiness that only receded after I turned to different methods of making coffee.

Coffee is different than espresso of course.

Anythig interesting?

I'm hoping so......some coffee from Ethiopia from the Sidama region is one of the orders. This particular selection is something new to me. I've had good luck with the roaster's previous Ethiopian coffees, so I'm looking forward to this one. The other is the monthly selection for a subscription from a coffee roaster in Hawaii. It's the "roaster's choice", and I find I like discovering what it is when I open the package, so all I know is it'll be from somewhere in the Hawaiian Islands.

An Ethiopian coffee from Sidama?

Wonderful.

Washed or natural process?

I look forward to reading about it when you take delivery of the order.

And coffee from Hawaii, which is a treat I have yet to sample.

Do enjoy.

It works to get coffee from my french press this morning.
It's great even if it isn't the real expresso kick.

I am hunting a new espresso machine, and I might I've found one, with some options to consider.
It won't be a Siemens this time, I've had a lot of them and they're great. An automatic machine in general is a morning savor at times, for sure.
But I will think it over a while - this week probably.
Checking for other machines too so I don't just grab the first one, I'm gonna live with it for some time - it's a long term relationship ♥️

For sure!

But as Siemens are not the cheapest of the automatic machines, I actually think I can get a really good half-automatic as a number 1️⃣ Espresso machine, and a decent automatic no. 2️⃣ for the same price as what a Siemens cost, for 'those mornings/days' that asks for it.
But I recalled, and checked my invoices, I had a real luck when I bought the last Siemens at a great discount last time.
But I am going for a half automatic as no 1️⃣ now.

The very best of luck, and do let us know how you get on with it.

Mr. Coffee has made good coffee for me. There is no reason to break the bank to get a good machine.
