Bad weather generates lots of positive ions.
Pouring, lashing rain, it is bucketing down, chucking it down......

And I am currently enjoying, sipping, savouring, a mug of my rapidly diminishing coffee from El Salvador.

Time to prepare another coffee.
These can create an invisible vortex to other dimensions,
Diminishing coffee beans, yes,.......
such as the unused coffee bean dimension and the single, other sock dimension.
Ah, yes, the other sock dimension.

Another thing that the late, great, Douglas Adams got absolutely right.
Not to mention the lost key dimension.
Shudders with horror just reading this sentence......

I'm warming up Silvia and myself for a second cup.

I'm very pleased with my wand repair - no dribbles at all since I did it.

The picture I posted above is from a pretty good series, Cardinal, on Hulu. What prompted me to post the picture, other than a chance at a funny Dear Abby post, was the surprise of seeing a V1/V2 Silvia in use. You can tell its version from the steam knob, which is the same one mine has. An earlier point in the video seemed to show a V2 portafilter.

My Silvia seems to have a mix of V1/V2 characteristics, from what I've seen online. Espresso Parts identified it as a V1 from its manufacturing date. It has a V2 wand and brand label. It has V1 portafilter and drip tray. Maybe it was manufactured when they were transitioning models.

Ordered 4 kilos of various Lavazza beans.
Longed for lighter and cleaner only Arabica espresso now.
So that what I went for.

I love the Mexican beans, and have a few kilos left, plus some intense Lavazza beans also.

Shifting between beans are good, to keep the tastebuds healthy.

Like you and others here I bounce around the “bean merry-go-round”, for variety and keeping tastes fresh.
I really like the Lavazza Crema E Aroma Whole Bean recently, seems to hit that taste spot .

I found the bag to the right in my cupboard, so once the machine is screaming to be fed it goes in 1st.
The other 3 I bought now. Another package comes soon too. I’m also hunting for some more 😉

Inexplicably, I seem to be running low on both coffee, and coffee filter papers.

Must remedy this deficiency.

that's a very serious situation....especially concerning the filters.

As a result of the COVID era when all sorts of paper goods were difficult to find, I started buying Hario filters sold as a 3-pack; 3 packages of 100 filters each. As I near the end of the second package I'll buy another 3 pack....if nothing else, the COVID era made it clear that one didn't want to find oneself without the various necessary paper goods

Very serious, indeed, agreed.

Yes, I find that I am down to my last few, and am almost entirely out of coffee from El Salvador.

These deficiencies shall be remedied presently.

Having realised that I am almost out of coffee - and down to my last few filters - I have placed an order for both coffee and coffee filters.

However, - given that we are rapidly approaching the May Day Bank Holiday week-end, (which means that I am not entirely certain that my coffee will arrive over the week-end) a more immediate emergency purchase may be called for, tomorrow, when I head in to the city in order to replenish my supplies of organic milk and artisan bread.

definitely get the emergency purchase....it's always good to have a backup supply on hand for emergencies like this

Yes, agreed, that seems to me to be a prudent course of action.

With luck, my order might be delivered as early as Saturday; or, it could be delayed to Monday (a Bank Holiday) or, worse still, it could arrive as late as Tuesday or Wednesday, by which time my existing supplies (of both coffee and filter papers) will have been long exhausted.

As I plan to head into town tomorrow - artisan bread, organic milk, and cheese are all on my list - while coffee and filter papers (for, one can never have too much coffee or too many filter papers) - have also made their way there.

My coffee woes have been addressed, and, I suspect that by next week, I shall be smothered by a veritable embarrassment of riches, as far as coffee is concerned.

This afternoon, I received an email from the roaster with whom I had placed my order for both coffee and filter papers, letting me know that my order had been packaged, and had yet to be collected by the courier, who will inform me when the coffee order has been collected, and when they expect to be able to deliver it.

Given that we are heading into a Bank Holiday week-end, I would be surprised to see it make an appearance before Monday, or even, Tuesday.

Never mind: I spent a few hours in the city this afternoon, where - among other necessities - coffee (Rwandan, and Ethiopian, plus paper filters) was purchased - and a coffee enjoyed - at one of my favourite coffee shops, where I encountered a fellow coffee enthusiast, and where we chatted long and enthusiastically about coffee.

I gave Miss Silvia a nice warm bath yesterday. I used some Urnex-branded bath bombs. They didn't seem scented; must have been my allergies.

She's happy. The coffee tastes the same.
The Queen of Sweden's name is Silvia.
Not sure she woul'd appreciate any bombs in our country, bathing or otherwise. The King might be allowed to use the bathing things though 😉

I did run a cleaning cicle on my Sage Express the other day as well - espresso was good before it, but it changes a bit after cleaning I think - a bit clearer taste.
Bought some Urnex Cafiza E31 tablets, that is way cheaper, that I heard was used to my machine from other users with great result. Will test them later, as I already bought the Sage Tablets as well. Will take me years to use them all up 😂

Also got a few more Lavazza bags into my cupboard. I'm good with beans for awhile now ♥️

Just as well I took steps (emergency steps) to replenish my coffee supplies (and my filter paper supplies) yesterday, as, 1): I would otherwise be out of both coffee and filter papers, because 2): I have absolutely no idea when the coffee I ordered on Thursday night will be delivered, not least as we are now in the middle of a Bank Holiday week-end.

Greatly enjoying (not least, because I know I will not need to ration it), an afternoon mug of coffee, (the last of the Guatemalan Gesha), served with organic hot milk.

Now, to prepare another, as I find myself craving a fresh coffee.

I am currently sipping, savouring, and greatly enjoying, a fresh mug (Le Creuset) of coffee, one of the coffees I purchased yesterday.

This is a well-regarded coffee from Rwanda, a honey-process Bourbon, (produced by the predominantly female workforce of the Mbilima Dukundekakawa co-op) and is quite lovely.

Wow.

This is totally unexpected.

The coffee I had ordered on Thursday has just been delivered to the door.

Very impressive, and wholly unexpected.

Well, I am amply stocked with both coffee (actually, I am positively spoiled with an embarrassment of riches, comprising four types of coffee from four different countries - from Ethiopia, Rwanda, El Salvador and Costa Rica, respectively) and with filter paper.

Earlier, I enjoyed a coffee from Rwanda, a honey process Bourbon, served with some organic hot milk, and a dash of organic double cream.

Now, to prepare a mug of coffee for this Bank Holiday Sunday afternoon.

Got me a hankerin' for another cup of joe. The Missus is warming up.

My earlier cup was terrible. After I made it I then used the wand for the milk. It came out almost as steam. So, I'm guessing I caught Miss Silvia at the high point in her temperature cycling and it really affected the taste. I'm going to be more careful in the future, testing for that condition before the pull, and getting the temp down if I encounter it.

I did watch a video on temperature surfing and the poster did blast off some steam before the pull.
